Jamaica anyone?

Mrs_T2B, 27 May, 2010 at 21:06 Posted on Planning 0 11

Evening Ladies Smiley smile

Have any of you been to or plan to go to Jamaica? We are hoping to book our Honeymoon on saturday but wanted to see if we could get come reviews first?

All the ones on TripAdvisor are very good but I thought you girls could possibly shed a bit more light.

Thanks in advance x

My Brother are SIL went to a Sandles resort in Jamaica and loved it. They were going to go Mexico again, but SIL is a manager at First Choice and was given the honeymoon as a gift (Jammy cow!!!)

They went on a great excursion, where they had to walk up some cliffs and went swimming under waterfalls etc. Sounds an amazing place. I think they are planning to go back soon!

I can't recommend it highly enough! I went there with family in December a few years ago. We stayed at the Bahia Principe in Runaway bay. Would definitely suggest all inclusive because it's better only the leave the hotel complex on an organised excursion. And Dunn's River Falls is an absolute must see!

    Hi Mrs T2B

I have never been to Jamaca but did hear on the news the other day that there were some problems there, tbh wasn't really paying much attention so don't know how bad or exactly where but might be worth having a quick look into before you book x

    Yeh I heard that too-

Think it was due to drug gangs in the capital Kingston, But you get that everywhere!

London is just as bad lol!

All i can say is everyone i met there- both in the resort and out- is amazingly happy all the time and singing! ( so would i if i had that sunshine!

(Also i think Steelgoddess has just booked there- maybe ask her whats she's booked?)

Thanks ladies Smiley smile We are hoping to be going to the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean which is based in Runaway Bay.

Hopefully all the fighting will be over next year but I'm not too fussed. Kingston is a long way away from the holiday resorts especially Negril, Montego Bay, Runaway Bay, Ochos Rios which are on the west of the island.

Hi I'm getting married in Jamaica in April 2012 and have just about short listed our hotels. All my nieces and nephews are coming and I was under the impression Sandals and Couples in adults only so they would be no good for us unfortunately - coz they look fab! But we also like to Riu hotels, particularly Riu Ocho Rios. Would love to hear from anyone else who's got marrie din Jamaica. x

    Hiya

I have been twice once to Sandals Ochos Rios and another to Beaches Boscobel and absolutely loved it. Weather is lovely, people are lovely and food is amazing.

Just be careful that you check the hurricane season, my MOH got married in Jamaica and spent her honeymoon in the complexes basement

I've checked and rainy/hurricane season is May to November however it did sayus that heavy storms and hurricanes are only prodominantly in September/October. It also said that they never get bads ones as they just miss Jamaica.

I'm not worried though, it will still be amazing! Going to speak to Thomson tomorrow and see what they advise.

We are going to The Caves in Negril and I cant wait - it is small boutique resort and the reviews on tripadvisor are amazing.

Will write a report when we get back ?

I went to Negril in June 2008 and absolutely loved it, one of my best holidays. Agree that Dunns River is amazing, deffo get them to do you a video as you go up...we still watch our and laugh at how 'graceful' I was walking up it!!!!

As for the trouble over there at the moment, I know someone who is there as we speak and they have not been affected at all! I do think the news hypes everything up!
