Jars for sweetie buffet

Macca87, 18 June, 2012 at 13:44 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hi, I'm making my own sweetie buffet for my wedding. Just wondered if anyone else is doing this and where are you getting your jars from? Trying to find some reasonably priced ones from somewhere!

Had a quick look on eBay but most say pick up and are nowhere near me!

Thanks

Do you have an IKEA near you? Mine all came from there and were £1 each.

I am doing this too and started collecting jars, dishes etc months ago. I now have sooooo many jars so just keeping them stored until September to then sell after the honeymoon.

I got 4 from Poundland, about 4 from Sainsburys which were a bit bigger and then the rest I have been collecting from charity shops and also from going to a few car boot sales (which I managed to find some great buys). I think overall I have spent about £35-£40.

I also got some tongs and scoops from a cheap sell everything shop in Twickenham.

I have ordered my sweets from Funky Monkey which were a good price and I have brought some bags from Amazon (think they were like £2.00 per 100)

    Hope that helps.

Mine are from the Range but I'm borrowing them from a friend. Oversized Martini, brandy, wine glasses. In fact, here is a flash of my friends wedding sweet buffet! I'm sure they won't mind me flashing.

Brilliant! Thanks ladies, think I'll give Ikea a go and try the supermarkets. I have been saving jam jars etc but I think they look really boring now!

Luckily my OH works at a cash and carry so can get us the sweets for a good price.

Jalapeno: your friend's buffet looks lovely!

I was thinking of Ikea and maybe using vases rather than jars. Can re-use them or sell them then.

Somebody mentioned vases to me the other day andI was thinking that might look daft! However I googled some pics of sweetie buffets and some jars look like they could be vases so I'm with you there Jo!

Another vote for IKEA £1 jars.

I decorated the lids with the sweet name to personalise them to our colourscheme a bit.

My wedding has a vintage theme so my BM who is a huge attender of car boots and charity shops has been picking me up some vintage bowls and jars, all for around 20p each. I got my scoops from an ebay shop very cheap. Thinking of going to makro for the sweets. Smiley smile

Excellent! Might have to pop down to my local car boot and have a look!

Similar sort of cash and carry to where my OH works, think thats the best option really as you get to have a good look at the sweets and decide which are my fave!
