Jazzy gnocchi?

Flump, 28 May, 2009 at 14:21 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I have 2 packets of gnocchi which are just out of date so I want to use them up tonight. Mr G is a grumpy old wotsit (nooooo!) and declares gnocchi is dull, so was wondering if anyone had suggestions to make it more exciting? Glitter maybe? ?

Any recs gratefully accepted. I made gnocchi with sage butter and walnuts after a rec on here before, but I don't think that would cut it tonight

Thanks! xx

I quite like the glitter idea - how about gold leaf?

Serve it wearing a French maid's outfit ?

Or stick it in the freezer to scoff with pesto when MrG is away. I love gnocchi - pearls before swino imo.

I like it with chilli tomato sauce, fresh basil, chunks mozarella then baked in the oven.

Ah, but have you done it with glitter? ?

Another one we do is roasted pepper, tomato and garlic, whizzed up and mixed with cooked gnochhi, with goats' cheese and fresh basil glitter scattered on top. Dead quick and simple. For two I think we use one pepper(chopped into sticks), 2 decent sized tomatoes (quartered) and as much garlic as you can stomach (not peeled), drizzled with OO, roasted for 20 mins at about 180/200C. Squeeze the garlic out of the cases before blitzing.

Blue cheese & walnuts is good. Although it needs to be proper gnocchi and almost snowing for me to enjoy it properly. And then somewhere comfy I can lie down nearby in a cheese & carbs haze after

The pepper and goats cheese one was in a low-fat cook book - though I would imagine that depends on just how much cheese you add ?

Hmmm. I vote for serving it how you normally do just when you put it on the table, immediately give it some jazz hands. ?
