Jewellery too delicate??

Ixia, 10 February, 2011 at 18:57 Posted on Planning 0 19

Hoping for some advice as I'm having a bit of a wobble about my jewellery.

My MOH has given me a set of very delicate silver & pearl drop earrings and matching necklace to wear as my 'something borrowed', but I'm worried that it's too small and delicate against my dress and whether I should wear something that shows up more. I'm also wearing a pearl hairband. The dress only has detail under the bust (picture below) and the rest is completely plain. Any ideas? Should I have a bit more bling or keep it as it is?

I actually think the detailing and ruching on the dress lend themselves to something more delicate. If you went for a big statement piece it would be too much and would drown out the detail on the dress ?

The dress is perfect either way. I think it could carry both statement and delicate jewellery. My personal feeling would be to go big. The detail is fairly subtle and if it's going to be drowned out, it may as well be by your massive blingy necklace.

Personally i think with this style of dress and how elegant it is in it's style and cut, it would look fabulous with delicate jewellery. You don't want something too fancy or it will detract away from the dress.

Do you have a pic of the jewellery? xx

Ive got the same dilema with my dress at the moment.

Lots of poeple are saying stay simple.....and a few are saying its too simple so wear bling.

Personaly Im a blingy person...and same as you ...I want the necklace and earings to show up and not look too delicate.

I think a simple drop pendant will work well with your dress. If you are looking for more of a statement could you go for more of a statement side tiara rather than the pearl band or is the band quite detailed anyway?

Gorgeous dress! What everyone else said...small and delicate will be perfect. Because your dress has straps, anything too big and showey wouldn't look right.

Sorry, I guess that would help! This is the closest I could find to what they look like:

I am a fan of the delicate look, but I think it's personal opinion really and the only way you'll know is to try it on.

I went mad for this delicate necklace to go with my very detailed dress and when I tried it on with my dress it barely shows up and just "blends in" - I will certainly need another (take 3!)

I think the jewellery will be perfect. Nice to see another bride with straps, too ?

Doesn't the model have such a tiny waist?!

Cricket bride - I knew from the start I wanted a dress with straps. Despite the lady in the shop getting me to try on strapless ones "because they're more popular", I wasn't going to change my mind!

    Starstruck - loving the bracelet!

I agree with the others the dress is crying out for simple jewellery, anything else will be too much and I think the pics you posted will look lovely, I know what you mean about strapless dresses, I really dont like strapless stuff on me and had my heart set on little floaty sleeves but at the very least straps and there was so little choice!

I think your jewellery looks beautiful and will be great with your dress - I do like the idea of a bracelet as well.

Im having straps added to my dress so not bothering with a necklace but my top has loads of detail on it.

Im having drop earlings and a sparkly bracelet - I think my right arm would feel very bare without x
