Jewellery - what lasts, how to clean, what would match this?

Hi there, So I've realised I need to start thinking about what jewellery to wear... I would like to wear the necklace my Mum wore on her wedding day, 54 years ago. It's silver but quite dark at the moment - I'm hoping it can be redipped or cleaned to brighten it up? It has a sort of heart-shaped section (mother of pearl?). Here it is with the dress, although the dress hadn't been altered at that point so the bodice is a bit big.

My tiara is brighter and more sparkly...

So some questions...

1. Any advice on cleaning or redipping the necklace?

2. Anyone happen to have seen any items which might match this (and the tiara), esp ear-rings?

3. I'd like to buy some 'proper' ear-rings which I could keep for many years to come (hopefully), and enjoy wearing them again knowing that they are from my wedding day. But I've got no idea about 'proper' jewellery - I normally just buy cheap stuff... What should I be looking out for? I'm not keen on gold and obviously that wouldn't match, so I suppose I'm looking at silver - but does that tarnish over time? Should I be looking for solid silver instead of silver plate? Or some other material? And if they are sparkly, does it matter if it's just cheap crystals, or diamante, or some proper gemstone...

As you can probably tell, I'm a bit clueless about this tbh. I look at some of the sparkly jewellery on offer, and I can't really tell the difference between a £20 piece and a £200 piece, and I don't know what difference it would make in terms of how well it keeps its looks over the years? Ditto with pearls - I suppose there are different qualities and some last better??

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated! Thanks in advance :-)

Take the necklace to a high quality independent jewellers. They will be able to tell you the best way to clean it, the can also identify the heart in the center & may be able to help you find some lovely earrings to match. I know everyone loves bargain hunting on the internet but sometimes face to face is just better.

The heart looks like mother of pearl from the picture and pearl shouldn't be dipped in silver cleaner. try a silver cloth on the surrounding areas, but that may not get into the pattern. It will show you f it will come up that way though. then if that makes it cleaner use silver dip cleaner on a paint brush avoiding the mother of pearl.
