John Lewis Christmas ad

I don’t like it. I can’t stand the M&S one either. Or the Morrisons one. Poor effort all round this year.

I absolutely love it!! I'm a huge wildlife fan and think it's great, the little rabbits face and the bears face when he sees the tree gets me all teary (i'm sad and I know it) haha.

Loved last years too M&S could have done better, haven't saw any others I don't think. I can't wait for the irn bru Christmas ad haha.

I saw loads of FB statuses saying they were crying over it. I don't really get what is tearjerking about it.

Is M&S the one with Helena Bonham-Carter? I thought that was ok. A girl from my school was in an M&S Christmas ad once. Nice little claim to fame.

I like it. Its nowhere near the one with the boy's present for his parents though. and the snowman one was good. this one is cute, but it doesnt feel hugely festive to me, though it is nice and the faces when the hare sees the bear and the bear sees the tree are very sweet and do get me emotional - but it doesnt take much for me to blub!

I quite like the M&S one, its not christmassy tho - but then, i dont think its meant to be.

Definitely not keen on it this year.

Also not helped by the song, lily allen covering keane, it's like my idea of music hell

What's the one with Carol Vorderman in it? That one really gets my goat...

Well I can't say I cried, but I thought it was quite a sweet advert. I liked it. I haven't seen the M & S one yet... and I'm dying to see the coca cola advert, to me, it is Christmas when I see the trucks!

I have to hold my hands up and say yes I like it, and yes it made me sniffle and well up a bit. I don't know why and I don't quite understand myself what causes the effect.

I much much much prefer the Keane version, however I do think Lily Allen's version is quite sweet and it's the words and tune of it which get to me. I think 99% of all tearjerking moments for me are music related. Also I had my period.

I LOVED the snowman! I did enjoy the animation from this year's ad but I thought the concept was a little weird. Also- I know its not the point, but if you wake up a bear during hibernation it will likely starve to death! Not very Christmassy!

I did think it was cool how the Xmas tree was lit up by the dawn sun- rather than the animals acquiring fairy lights and a power source- hehe

I am such a crier. I cry at *everything* but this advert didn't do a thing for me. I didn't get it. It doesn't feel festive. It doesn't advertise John Lewis. It reminded me of Watership down and Animals of Farthing Wood. Last year's advert was much much better.

I love the looks of their faces, I wasn't expecting it to get me but it did. Not full on crying but a little well up. I don't like Lilly Allen but I liked the song too. I like the idea of it - spending Christmas with those you love etc. and I'm sure the bear will be fine!!

I loved it. I think the animation is great and the sentiment is lovely.

As for the bear dying - I think we allow a bit of artistic licence in advertising? Mr Snowman didn't really trek across a city for a present for Mrs Snow-woman either...
