John Lewis Gift List

FMG, 22 July, 2013 at 12:29 Posted on Planning 0 14

Our gifts list has been open now for 2 weeks! I am however slightly addicted to checking it to see whio and what has been purchased from it! I absolutely hate myself for checking it as I think that we should wait until the day after our wedding to do this and it all be a surprise. However I just can't stop myself!!! I think JL should give you the choice of whether you opt to be able to see what's brought or have this part switched off as I would definitely switch mine off as I have no self control. Anyone else with gift lists that are finding they're doing the same?

    Yep!

One of my OH's old neighbours has bought so many of the pans that I asked for that I am completely staggered and I am wondering if the really have actually bought ALL of them or whether it is just messed up on Prezola! They have been far too generous if not!

People have only really stated buying stuff in the last 2 weeks or so, and I get married on the 3rd.

I'm shocked at how organised people are as we've had quite a few gifts purchased already. I am certainly not that organised when I buy gifts for people, I usually do it the week before. I must say I am very happy as our most extravagant item is a Kitchen Aid which my darling Nan has brought for us, really chuffed!!!

Oooo Kitchen Aids are beautiful and practical! It's a feature of any kitchen and will be well used in my household as I am a big cake and bread maker. Since my nan has brought it I have been researching all of the attachments you can get for them like pasta makers, sausages stuffers, etc!!!! I can not wait to get my hands on it!!!

Sorry to thread crash but I love love love my Kitchenaid. Mine is electric blue and it sits on my worktop all the time. It was a Christmas present 2 years ago and I use it all the time. If you bake it is well worth the investment. Also my Mum has one and the little black knobw which holds the sign on the front (where your attachments fit) broke so she called them up and event though hers is a few years old they replaced it without question so the service from them is very good too. If you end up with extra vouchers or are looking for a little extra I have two bowls and I must say it's brilliant I can make up whipped cream and meringue in separate bowls so I don't have to wash up halfway through. Lazy I know but it's a godsend at times.

I have a fuchsia pink one my OH bought me a couple of years ago. It sits in pride of place in my kitchen. I can't live without it!! Wish I had two bowls though as I hate having to wash midway through something.

What about getting the best man or someone trustworthy to change the password to something you don't know?

    Then you can't look x

Hah! I love my kitchen aid stand mixer, but mines black. I did get the matching black kitchen aid blender off our gift list, though, and I'm super chuffed. Now I need the food processor, too!

i was totally obsessed with checking our list, too, and when it closed I had fun switching some things around and using the vouchers people brought Smiley laugh

We had quite a few people buy when the list opened, but it's really stalled in the past week. Only one gift in eight days. I'm a bit worried, because about a third of our guests haven't bought anything yet, and although we said gifts weren't necessary or expected, I KNOW several of them will buy us something. If they're not buying from the list that means they'll be buying something else - something else that we probably won't be able to find space for in our tiny flat and that we don't need or want, unlike all of the stuff on the list, that was very carefully thought out to be stuff we needed and stuff we have space for. I suppose I should be grateful for anything, but - sigh....

I'd never heard of a kitchen aid before but now I NEED one in my life! That looks incredible. I've got a bit of an obsession with kitchen gadgets even though I don't really cook and this is going to be my new pin up I think!!

Edit - I got a bit excited and posted without answering the original point of the thread - I'd be exactly the same and would have to get my OH to guard the password and not tell me so I didn't spoil it if we had a gift list!
