July 2013 brides

31 July, 2012 at 23:48 Posted on Planning 0 159

I have recently joined the forum so thought I'd say hi and also look for fellow july 2013 brides for support. it would be great to speak to anyone with the same date as us July 13th.

i've been engaged for a year when my fiance popped the question in the middle of a Pulp gig in hyd park.

We had thought we had found an idyllic hotel in south west Scotland last october but when we went to pay the deposit they had booked us in for 2014 instead of 2013 and our date had gone. We felt we ciould not trust them with our wedding so left it for a while and last month found an even nicer hotel where we can get married outdoors by a fountain if the weathwr is nice .

our wedding will be medium sized with a slight festival theme and a blue and white colour scheme. We've got plenty of ideas and luckily some help from talented friends and family which should make us some savings.

Can't wait to chat with people in the same boat and i don't feel like i'm boring with my wedding plans!!

    Hi Sarmar,

I'm getting married on 20th July 2013 in Ayrshire so also a Scottish bride.

I'm almost organised for it with the exception of Kilts and Chair covers and a few other bits and pieces.

i'm doing alot myself including save the dates, invitations, centre pieces, arrangements for the cermoney, favours and other things mainly decorations. Sometimes feel like there arent enough hours in the day.

I often feel like i've bored everyone with my wedding talk. I dont have any friends who are getting married so none of them really understand why I am so excited. I think i've talked about it so much with my family that they are sick of hearing it so its good to talk to people who are in the same boat.

If you dont mind me asking where was the orignal venue you booked that messed up your date? That's not a great start for any venue to do that so i'm not surprised you went elsehwere.

where have you settled on booking?

    Hi & welcome to hitched!

We're getting married the Sat before you on 6th July in Somerset. We're also hoping for nice weather so we can have an outdoor ceremony in the garden of the venue, fingers crossed!

Have you got much else booked yet? So far we have venue, TOG, a friend doing the cake, dress & caterers. I think I'll be ordering wholesale flowers to do myself and am currently making meters and meters (and meters!) of bunting and other bits. Feeling fairly organised so far but I'm sure the panic will set in as the months tick by, what with all the DIY I've promised myself I'll do ;-D

We are 27th July! I am having a slight panic about how organised you all are! We have the church and the venue sorted but that is about it. We are talking to a TOG which is available on the date but need to meet and chat with them, and my mum is doing the cake and I have started looking for my dress but that is it!

I’m going to sound like a total child however we are having a very subtle Disney theme to our wedding and reception. My OH proposed to me in Disneyland Paris and we are planning on having our Honeymoon at Disney World in Florida plus I grew up on Disney and still love it to this day. My OH isn’t into Disney but he’s pretty much embraced that I love it and so has agreed to incorporate it into the wedding.

We are naming our tables after Disney Couple with a picture of them in their wedding dresses and are having a Cinderella and Prince Charming cake topper however I don’t think anyone will notice its Cinderella unless we tell them as again she is in her wedding dress. We have a guest book and pen holder shaped like an enchanted carriage and champagne glasses to match. We also have chocolate fountains at night time where we will be serving Mickey Mouse shaped waffles for dipping. Through the ceremony I’m also having instrumental versions of the Disney love songs played, however I’m not planning to walk down the aisle to Disney.

We are trying to keep it very subtle to avoid it being over the top and possibly becoming tacky.

I would have loved to been brave enough for an outdoor ceremony but I know with the luck I have it will rain.

I’m amazed at how much I have organised as normally I leave everything to the last minute but I haven’t been able to stop myself booking everything for the wedding. The internet is my best friend most days just having a look for ideas and then end up buying things I shouldn’t.

I love the whole festival idea, I think that’s something my OH would have gone for if I had suggested it to him, he is more the festival type than me though.

Is anyone else having a theme?

So far I have my dress, venue, registrar, Tog, florist and caterer booked. OH auntie is making cupcakes for us which is nice. We also buy bits each month to decorate the with such as tea lights and hearts etc.

We dont have a theme as such but are using sage green, pink and ivory as our colours.

Misselle, thats not childish! I love abit of Disney ? We just booked our honeymoon to Disney Land Florida last week, we cannot wait to go. Will you be going straight after your wedding?

    Missbertie,

I totally get the buying bits each month. That’s exactly what we have been doing, figure it was best to spread the cost out and do it but by bit then leave it until last minute and either not be able to afford it or be in a mad rush.

We aren’t going straight after the wedding I’m afraid. We were planning to go a few months later so that it wouldn’t cost as much. Also OH’s sister is coming over from America for the wedding so OH wanted to try spend some time with her after the wedding. So we’ve agreed that we will take a short trip just the two of us for a week or so like a mini-moon just to de-stress and relax from all the wedding hype. I have a feeling once its done with I’m going to be exhausted.

Are you going to be staying in Disney World or are you staying elsewhere?

We’ve been planning this wedding for the last two years and up until now its flown in, now that we are under a year away time seems to have stopped, Does anyone else feel like this?

Yes it is and plus I like to be super organised.

We thought about waiting until a few months after as its so much more expensive and hotter in July but we are quite lucky and have family that are paying as our wedding present so we are now going on the Monday after the wedding. We are staying at the Hilton Bonnet Creek, its in Lake Buena Vista. I havent been to Florida before but my OH has and looking online this seems to be a good location and a lovely hotel without the hefty Disney price tag. We did look at the Dolphin and Swan also which are a Disney Hotel but it was quite a bit more and we catually prefer our hotel.

A mini moon sounds like a lovely idea, any ideas where you may go?

We started planning a year ago and it felt like ages away but now its just under a year I feel its really close even though its not. Plus as we have the big stuff booked there isnt sp much to do at the moment so its a bit of a lull moment.

Sarmar, that venue looks gorgeous, so romantic too. What hotel is it that you have now chosen? Have just seen it and its lovely! We are getting married at a lovely Barn. Its called Haughley Park Barn if you are interested in having a nose! I love fairy lights ? I normally go onto some wedding blogs to get some ideas.

Relaxing in a cottage sounds bliss.

ETA your wedding sounds really cool ? thats good that your mum can do flowers, saves you alot of money there then!

Thanks Sarmar, I love it ? Aw that sounds so lovely and more personal. Sleeping out in a tent on the wedding night, i've never heard of that before! But i must admit it sounds fun!

Bless your mum, thats sweet of her. My mil is exactly the same, so excited and wanting things organised straight away. Its good when you know people who can help out as things do easily add up. I know our budget has gone up quite a bit since we first strrated planning.

Have you tried on the dress you like yet?

Hey I'm getting married July 13th too. Finding it all very intimidating. We booked venue in Hampton Court, Surrey, booked registrar and had tasting with the caterers yesterday.... we having thai food (both of us English) it's just my OH loves thai food and insists on having it, luckily the food was good so I'm happy.

Thinking of having green BM dresses but struggling to find any that aren't stupidly expensive. just seems so much to do, is bait overwhelming!

Great to find someone on same day thou! Have you started dress hunting yet? I'm not sure when to

I ended up buying my bridesmaid dresses from ebay, found the exact same dress that was on a website for £90 but bought the same dresses on ebay for £30 each so was very very pleased with that. Got a local dressmaker to take them in for me closer to the date. I couldnt afford to spend alot on the bridesmaid dresses and to be honest I didnt enjoy shopping for them at all. I'm having 3 bridesmaids and two of them were perfect and agreed on everything but the other was very awkward and didnt want anything at all and all the dresses she was suggesting were £300 or over so in the end the majority won out and although I dont think one of my BM was happy she was polite enough to say she liked them.

I ought to ban myself from the internet. Anytime i get a few minutes I go on the hunt for wedding stuff, today so far i've bought stuff to make wine glass charms for my guests and pealised purple sealing wax and a thistle stamp to seal the envelopes of the invitations that i'm planning to make myself. I can see my weekend being full of wedding stuff.

Got to paint the sticks for my centrepieces white and then spray them with glitter.

I'm struggling big time finding a cinderella and prince charming cake topper that doesnt cost the earth so far I have hardly found one under £90.

It is so good to talk to other brides getting married July 2013. I always feel like i'm boring people with wedding talk and although they are polite not to say it but they don't really want to hear about it.I always forget not everyone is as excited as me

Hi everyone. I am getting married on 20th July 2013. Have been a bit super organised and have booked the venue (rivervale barn), registrar, magician, band, photographer. And have put down a deposit on my dress. Now contemplating invitations but that scares me half to death as I am not at all arty! We are going to have a dancing theme as we met at a dance class. Not quite sure how I will achieve it but that is the theme!! Also not sure how I will dance in the dress I have chosen!

Has anyone else tackled invites yet? I thought it was best to get them out early as it is prime holiday time.

Hi everyone! I'm getting married on 20th July at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds Smiley smile I've got my dress, shoes and tiara, one of my BM's is making me an organza wrap, I'm in the process of making all my decorations, confetti cones and invites, I'm doing my own sweet buffet... So far nearly everything has come from ebay or charity shops - although we hadn't planned on having a theme as such, because of the style of venue it's all leaning towards Victorian vintage; lots of burgundy, black and old gold. I'm having so much fun!

And I love reading about everyone else's planning! Less than a year to go now ladies!

    Hi July 2013 Brides!

I'm getting married on 20th July 2013, in Hertfordshire. Having just read this thread I think it's fair to say I'm panicking! I'm no where near as sorted as the rest of you, we've only just bought the engagement ring (he proposed with a "stand in" ?). He did it a month ago on the first day in our new home (only just finished unpacking) and we have since been on a two week holiday so haven't had that much time to plan!!

We have booked the venue, it is a girls boarding school, with a chapel. My fiancee's Dad lives and works there. It sounds a bit strange but it's actually very pretty and means a lot to us.

My best friend is working in America until November and she wants me to wait until she's back before I go dress shopping which I'm trying to do!

Anyway, I better get back to freaking out about how far behind I am!!

I am starting to get a bit more organised! Have found a car and a TOG and just need to get the deposit put down. Started dress shopping and organising BM dress shopping trips. Been researching chair covers and DJs as well! Have not even thought about invites yet - how long in advance do you think they need to be ordered? Not going for a DIY approach as will not have the time but am thinking of those that you get most of it done and just have to tie the ribbon!

I'm getting married 6th July Smiley smile

I have booked photographer, videographer, venue, hotel rooms, dj, cake toppers, cake, bought older bridesmaid dresses, ordered my dress, bought table centrepieces, booked toastmaster, ordered suits, wedding rings are in process of being made-be ready mid sept, arranged venue decoration and booked church...

Nice writing it down as feels like I am getting there! We have done a lot of it but I don't get to see my partner much over the winter season so we decided to book it all early so we could do it together and both have alot of input!

Sparkle52 I got my wedding shoes from new look for only £20, I can’t wear a very high heel so they are reasonable and they are lace covered. They also had a peep toe version of the shoes. I didn’t want to spend a lot on my shoes and then when I saw them I decided they would be perfect. So maybe have a look around the high street shops, especially at the moment as its wedding season so a lot have wedding type shoes in stock.

Samar- I love your dress! its very beautiful

SuzyQ, Cola67 & Verity-Elizabeth we are all date twins!

Has anyone thought of their Hen Night yet? My BM has just booked mine for me so I’m excited about that although it’s not until June so a long time to wait.

My centre pieces aren’t really traditional. I’m having tall vases with ivory silk roses and thistles in them with large sticks also coming out of the top which are going to be painted white then sprayed with glitter and then I will have various hearts dangling from the sticks, got wire, glass and wood hearts at the moment. Going to be a lot of work I suppose but I couldn’t find anything else that I liked to hire and what I did like was very expensive and my budget is tight.

I’m about to tackle save the date cards with my mum. I’ve decided to send them out just to the family we are inviting because we have had so many problems with people inviting themselves who aren’t on the guest list and wish to stop this. Also my mum is estranged from her family other than her dad and although I’m on good terms with them I’m not 100% sure they will be coming to the wedding and I just want to know one way or another. I was very close to my mums family growing up and the massive fallout only happed 4-5 years ago but things are still very bitter with my Gran telling me at one point she wouldn’t be coming if my parents were attending. My mum says I shouldn’t care however my Gran and granddad were like second parents to me growing up and I spent every single weekend with them until I went to uni at 18 and even now they are still very good to me so I would be devastated if they wont come to the wedding especially as I sort of idolise my granddad. Unfortunately he usually follows what my Gran says.

Honestly families who would have them at times, bring more stress than is needed.

I’m in DIY mode this week with bridesmaid gifts and will hopefully get a flash by the end of the week of what I’ve done

Date twin! We are 27th too. All I have booked are the two venues... and you've all made me feel much better about early organisation! Most people seem to think I'm crazy for having so many ideas and things to think about. We're doing most things ourselves (cake, music, tog, flowers) so really most things just need planning rather than booking. My OH isn't much help though as he also think I'm nuts for thinking about it all a year in advance *sigh*

    Hi ladies,

Just one very silly question ... but what is a TOG?

I've cracked the invitations and wedding website - I went to mywedding.com and signed up for a wedding website (free) and it is great. Really looks professional. It also helps you manage RSVPs etc. Lots of the designs you can choose from have matching invites so I'm getting ours at wedding paper divas in US (only $10 for postage of them all to UK). Here's hoping that they are ok! They get good reviews. So we are just going for a square one sided invite with all the other info being on our wedding website.

I downloaded the easy wedding app for ipad the other day and I've had fun putting all our guest names in there and sorting out a very early go at a seating plan! Would highly recommend the app!

Sarmar - that is what we are doing - the tables will be named after dances we've done together!

    xxx

I think people normally send out invites about 6 months before, but given it is July and the fear people might book holidays I am getting ours out in sept. my invites will direct people to the website ... So that is how we are letting them know. I will put something on the homepage suggesting they bookmark the page. I will also put something on the gift list page to say that will be updated nearer the time of the wedding.

Most other stuff we already know like hotels and taxis etc.

The site gets people to enter their emai addresses so I guess we can email people when we update the website.

We're getting married on 20th July 2013 in Hexham, Northumberland.

I have no idea how organised we are in comparison...we've got a venue, band, church, TOG, wedding cars, a dress (once it's been narrowed down from two), videographer and chair covers. Our STD's went out in May of this year. We have family coming from abroad so we wanted to get the word out early. We're already starting to design invitations but i don't think we'll send them until Christmas time at the earliest as everyone knows when it is.
