I have recently joined the forum so thought I'd say hi and also look for fellow july 2013 brides for support. it would be great to speak to anyone with the same date as us July 13th.

i've been engaged for a year when my fiance popped the question in the middle of a Pulp gig in hyd park.

We had thought we had found an idyllic hotel in south west Scotland last october but when we went to pay the deposit they had booked us in for 2014 instead of 2013 and our date had gone. We felt we ciould not trust them with our wedding so left it for a while and last month found an even nicer hotel where we can get married outdoors by a fountain if the weathwr is nice .

our wedding will be medium sized with a slight festival theme and a blue and white colour scheme. We've got plenty of ideas and luckily some help from talented friends and family which should make us some savings.

Can't wait to chat with people in the same boat and i don't feel like i'm boring with my wedding plans!!

Hi Everyone, we're getting married on Friday 12th July 2013, I've only just joined the site too but am already hooked! We got engaged in June this year and everything seems to be falling into place, venues booked, dress on order, photographer booked and my bridesmaids have found a dress they love too! I'm making the cake and meeting with the florist this week oh and cars are booked too! I'm spending lots of time doing the crafty bits now and making invitations and looking at honeymoons! There's just so much to look at and so many ideas we love!

A festival theme will be amazing, Disney will be amazing too (my OH would never go for that though!) we're just sticking to a colour Royal Blue! Happy planning everyone! x

Hi all, been absent a bit, distracted by buying house and picking nursery scheme for bubba who has not had a proper room while renting, hee hee!

Anyhow, thought I'd give 1st flash of my homemade bunting, is 3 different fabrics enough, do you reckon?

Ohhh love the bridesmaid dress Samar, can I ask where you got them from? I'm in process of trying to choose mine: Gonna attempt to flash them, first time I've done this.

Not sure wether to go dark blue or green. The reception room in red, so need to think what colour goes well with red - very tricky. What you think .... green or blue?

    They are nice dresses!

I have not made a final decision yet on BM dresses but going towards the bridal shop ones. Have taken some advice from some seamstresses who say that taking in the bust in on a chiffon dress with a side zip is not the easiest and probably will cost a fair bit so am steering towards the corset back one from the bridal shop.

Got appointments to go dress shopping for myself on 8th sept so will decide after that I think, hoping that I will get my dress that day!

What is everyone doing about invitations? Have been looking around and the cost seems high! I dont think I want to make my own because of finding the time to do it, but dont mind doing some assembly. Not too fussy on the design other than I dont really want anything floral. Something simple will be fine!

    Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on here for a very long time but I have been following the discussions via my email! It's been nice to read about what everyone is up to. o far I have: venue, vicar (we are getting married in a chapel so she's coming from the local church), catering, florist, hairdresser. I have a good idea who will be doing the cake but I really need to get the photographer! I'm finding it hard to decide what style I want so I think I'll go with someone very flexible and then I can decide closer to the time! Dress is the next thing on the list.

I'm in the process of making my save the dates. I ordered a personalised stamp on Etsy and have the little cards and some other bits and bobs to decorate them.

So far I'm having lots of fun! I'm interested to hear about any money saving tips! Also, does anyone have a Pinterest? Mine is http://pinterest.com/vmarriott1/p-v/

Just booking my tickets to The Wedding Show in Earl's Court ?

Ok ladies - what do you all think of this dress?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Romantica-of-devon-Ivory-wedding-dress-Patience-size-14-/260941913567?pt=UK_Wedding_Dresses&hash=item3cc1599ddf

Cant find a picture online that i can flash, so here is the dress on ebay ( although would get it from the shop!) I would need to get the train shortened as it is currently longer than 5 foot and I am short so looks too big. Also I would get a corset back put in.

Hi midlands bride. Have you tried on similar shape dresses? I was very surprised at what suited me and what didn't. The dress itself is lovely ...

I have recently purchased a headpiece made of vintage looking broaches and jewellery ... It is gorgeous but has left me wondering if I need a veil. Veils always feel a bit awkward when I try them on ... But would I look bridey enough without it...

Are you all having a veil?

Yes I ave tried on loads........A line and satin are the best for me we decided! It is just that this one has a massive train! They can make it in short size anyway and the shop owner has done similar to trains before for shorter ladies Smiley smile

Great news midlands bride. Sounds like a great plan.

Helzbelz ... Have you been dress shopping now? How did it go?

Got my wedding undies from debenhams this week. They are ted baker ones and not v expensive £22 for the bra I think and £12.50 for the shorties that go with it. Really pretty in ivory with some pink trim.

    Hey

It was bit stressful & overwhelming to be honest. My mum was being quite negative, she has a thing about corset backs so anything I came out in a dress that was corseted she moaned about it. Ideally I'd go again without her, trouble is I have to take her along cuz she is buying my dress. I have spoken to her and hopefully she'll be better next time. Just so hard so much choice and I'm so fussy. We are going again on few weeks, I'll be better prepared I hope then.

Your underwear sounds like a great deal, I'll have to investigate.

Helzbelz I know how you feel. My mum's favourite phrase yesterday was 'we want', as in 'we want some more detail on the train' etc. Now most of the time I agreed with her, but just occasionally I wanted to say that I wanted something else and I felt bad about that!

Have you thought about going to look at some dresses by yourself before hand and picking out the ones you want to try? The shop can then make a note of them and you can then go back with your mum to try your choices on? You can then take a bit of time by yourself to look at dresses without anyone else there trying to persuade you!

    Hi,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post! I love all the ideas on here so I think I'll be hanging around for a while!

We're booked for 6th July 2013 in Bromley, Kent and I'm really excited!

Our venue is booked and I have put the deposit down on my dress, we have found our photographer and our invites are being designed at the moment and I'm hoping to sort BM dresses this week!

I'm feeling like we need to make a decision on the entertainment and flowers ASAP though as our day will fly around in no time!
All very exciting and so far really enjoying the whole experience!

Hi sparkle52. Those are very different from each other. Both are beautiful though!! I guess you have to think which one is going to make you feel the part, which one reflects your personality best?

Let us know how you go with the decision!

    Welcome to the thread Lmki66!

Helzbelz and midlands ... It is so hard with interfering mums! Lots of gritting your teeth, thanking them for their opinion but reminding them that it is you getting married and you need to make decisions! But do it gently ... Their motives will be good I am sure!! Perhaps take them outfit shopping for their outfit to deflect the attention away from yours?!

I know I said this near the beginning of this thread... but jeez you're all so organised!! I have my first dress appointment at Naomi Neoh on Wednesday and I am terrified! Still have a stone and a bit to lose so in a way it seems a bit pointless to try on dresses but she's having a sample sale. SIGH.

Sarmar: I adore that cake! It's so beautiful.

''I'm almost organised for it with the exception of Kilts and Chair covers and a few other bits and pieces''

    This scares me!!

    I have:

    Bunting (DIY)

Enamel jugs to fill with flowers (from The Range)

Table plan (£5 from The Range)

Jukebox - can't wait for this!

    Cake (MIL as gift)

My dress, shoes, garter, headpiece (dress bought from a fellow hitcher!)

Bridesmaid dress and shoes (ebay and schuh)

Registrar room, venue for evening reception and wedding breakfast (The Council House and *** and Hoop/Lacemarket Hotel Nottingham)

    Still to do:

Photographer - half sorted, through a friend, getting mates rates!

    Hair and make up

    Stationary

    Groom suit

    Transport

    Rings

oooop, this is bad, better get a wriggle on!

Ohhh sounds like you doing really well. I want to do my list: Although I think 9 months is ages so feel like I've got loads of time, we have right??

done: venue, registrar, caterer, hair/make up, photographer, car and DJ

To do: my dress, accessories, bridesmaid dresses, flowers, cake, bar (we need to do booze cruise for this), bar staff hire, stationary, band, decorations, invite list finalised, invites, grooms outfits, honeymoon

Is that a lot? Dress shopping main thing, off again this sat with less people and my mum promising to be more positive so fingers crossed!

Hi Jenie, I'm also your date twin! I live just outside London in Surbiton, we are getting married in Hampton Court (not the palace though). Where abouts you getting married?

Samar, went on Saturday, think I found 'the one' but was about to put deposit down, then got really cold feet so didn't. I'm not 100% sure. Just didn't feel all excited and 'in love with it' although did love wearing it. I'm confused now.

So you tried on the same dress on 3 different occasions? It lovely, just not 100% sure about the top part i'll try and post a picture of it
