I have recently joined the forum so thought I'd say hi and also look for fellow july 2013 brides for support. it would be great to speak to anyone with the same date as us July 13th.

i've been engaged for a year when my fiance popped the question in the middle of a Pulp gig in hyd park.

We had thought we had found an idyllic hotel in south west Scotland last october but when we went to pay the deposit they had booked us in for 2014 instead of 2013 and our date had gone. We felt we ciould not trust them with our wedding so left it for a while and last month found an even nicer hotel where we can get married outdoors by a fountain if the weathwr is nice .

our wedding will be medium sized with a slight festival theme and a blue and white colour scheme. We've got plenty of ideas and luckily some help from talented friends and family which should make us some savings.

Can't wait to chat with people in the same boat and i don't feel like i'm boring with my wedding plans!!

I live in South West London, Balham. I have sent out STD cards at last ? I have now also gotten quotes for hair/make-up, photographer and transport. But I have no time at all to go visit them as I work FT days and my OH works FT nights ?

Can anyone give me advice on how to handle this? I could be scheduled to work any day of the week but OH only works Tuesday - Friday night. I'm starting to panic now, cause we still haven't done our notices (registry office requires them to be done within 2 months of booking).

Hi Jenie....doing your notice is tricky (well it is at in our area (we live in Kingston, Surrey)) they only have set time during the day first app. 9am - 4pm. I work 8am - 5pm. The way i got round it is took a half day annual leave, drastic but no other way of doing it. My OH is self employed so less hard for him. Maybe worth you taking some time off to do it. Don't worry though we've got over 8 months, keep telling myself that's plenty of time!

In other news....After months of worry / stress....I've finally ordered my dress today. the relief is huge! Thanks to the advice guys.

Now - sort out bar staff / honeymoon / bridesmaid dresses and think about invites!

    Hi July brides.

How are we all getting on? Helzbelz, congrats on ordering your dress! Do we get a flash? I ordered mine last year! Bit premature I know...

We got my wedding ring at the weekend, I was worried it would look odd with my engagement ring as its a funny shape but they look quite nice together ?

OH is looking at suits this month, his all excited bless him. Still havent decided on bridemaids or flower girl dresses yet. Think I will look for those after Christmas.

    So far we have done/booked:

Venue, dress shoes and accessories, registrar, dj, photographer, florist, caterers, bar, my ring, place names, table numbers, decided on invites and booked the honeymoon.

Next on the list is to order invites, book cake and toastmaster.

Sometimes I feel like we are really organised then other times I just feel ?

    Hello fellow July brides,

I’ve neglected Hitched recently but have been lurking and reading the posts and keeping up to date with everyone’s planning. I’ve had a stressful time at work and its impacted on my wedding planning so I’ve avoided it and sort of fell out of love with it a bit. I am almost organised now.

Bought my bridesmaids some jewellery fro a lovely HIB 3dJewellery and I was thrilled with them.

Once Christmas is out of the way I plan to start making my invitations to send out. I’m terrified of doing it myself because I don’t want them to look cheap and nasty. Most people judge invitations and I’ve recently heard some catty comments about a friends wedding invitation which made me really worried. I wasn’t sure when to send them out really but I was thinking maybe the end of January and asking for them to be returned by then start of March? Is that too soon?

We need to give our room allocation list in 12 weeks before so I really need to know who’s coming and who I can bump from night to day if I get any no’s back. I’m probably really over thinking things but I’m hoping that if I throw myself into wedding planning again I might get myself out of the funk I’ve been in recently.

On the plus side, I put the deposit down on my dress last year and then was having wobbles recently. Tried it again on Monday to get a size ordered and fell in love with it all again and to top it off I’ve lost 2 stone since July so the sample dress although still too small looked much better on me. Need to keep the weight loss up until the wedding and shed a few more stone.

How is everyone else getting on? Is anyone else thinking of invitations yet?

    Hello everyone!

We are planning on ordering ours in the next few weeks and hope to start sending out day invites end of January then can have time to bump people up from the evening if needed.

I managed to get my BM dresses at the weekend so that is one less thing to do!

    How is everyone else progressing?

*Waves* 27th July for me ladies - I know very little about weddings but am a dab hand at conflict management ;o)

Church booked, venue advised of date (it's rather informal), dress found, wedding party informed, cake booked, invites almost made, togs found, hog roast booked, very long pinterest board - doesn't seem very much! http://pinterest.com/laublenk/joy-of-man-s-desiring

I'm anxious to send out a type of save the date as it's in holiday season - must do that before xmas!

    Hi Sarmar,

It's goo that we sound like we are on similar stages. The list of fun things to google and look at is running thin on the ground- I miss the days of googling wedding dresses.

I'm pushing on men's suits now as well- decided to buy slim fitting grey suits as opposed to hiring but not acutally tried any on yet!

Hello again my fellow July Brides ?

Sorry for not being on here for sooooo long. Work has just kept me so busy and exhausted. But I have managed to do some of the major wedding things lol.

We have booked cars, togs, honeymoon, ceremony, reception and interviewing DJ's and looking at decorations.

Also I went to try on dresses for the first time yesterday!!!!! ( I know its late but couldnt be helped) I was extremely happy that they had the dress I had fallen in love with when I saw it online......but when I tried it on it was sooo not for me. Whereas the second dress I tried on was absolutely gorgeous, high five to my sister for spotting it lol. Its Maggie Sottero, Sylvia. I tried on a few after to make sure, but Sylvia was for me ? Paid for it in full and will take it back for alterations abit later. I didnt tell OH how much as it was the max of our budget.....and that didnt include BM dress......or alterations.....?

OH is out suit shopping today with the boys....just hope he can choose something today as he can be indecisive. And tomorrow we will be meeting his sister to discuss cake ? always a good subject with me lol.

My brain has fogged over and cant think of what else we have done or needs doing......I'm gonna take a nap lol

Hope your planning is going well and you all are having a great time

    Hello July brides,

My flower girls tried on their dresses this wekeend, they looked so cute. We have given out some invites but need to post the rest this week. We had tea towel invites and everyone loves them so far.

Midlandsbride, We didnt put a gift list or anything in with our invite. Some close family and friends have called to ask what we would like so we have just said if they want to we would like some dollars for honeymoon.

What are you all doing for favours?

    Hi sarmar,

We've booked ourselves a little cottage in Devon for our honeymoon, its so cute and has amazing views. Its called The Tamar Counting House, we booked through Sheepskin.

I received my centre piece today, its a little glow lantern that we will decorate with ribbon and crystals. Its smaller than I thought it would be but that just makes it even better for my tables as they are only small square ones. I have sorted out my BM fiasco. They will be getting their dresses sorted out on March 16th. I have been discussing other decorations with my sister, balloons, garlands, etc. OH's sister is doing our cake and my aunt is doing our table cloths.

My mum is talking to me about food but I dont really know what I would like the family to bring as extra. We're having a BBQ buffet and the venue (for legal reasons) wont allow us to bring in hot food. Im starting to get abit stressed with it all to be honest. I would love to have a meeting with everyone but some work full time, some are going away and some dont live near by.

I have been on websites and ebay everyday looking at one thing then jumping to something completely different, cameras to dresses, lights to flowers. Im getting a little dizzy lol.

With regards to my own dress, can anyone advise me when to get my alterations started and if its best to go with the dry cleaners through the dress shop or look for my own? I've been told it can take upto 4 weeks for it to be dry cleaned....that has me worried as the date is getting closer and closer.

I'm going to stop my little rant now and try and get some sleep.....HA!

Hope your all getting along better than I feel I am. XXX

We've booked 4 nights in Prague - it's all we can afford at the moment, but we're both excited to get away! More excited for the honeymoon than the actual wedding - I don't know if that sounds horrible or weird, but we haven't been on a holiday abroad together for over 2 years! Everyone seems to be really organised, I'm having trouble getting in touch my contact at the venue, she always seems stressed out and busy with something else! Nightmare. Lovely venue though!

Samar, We have booked Florida for ours. Cant wait! Thats exciting not knowing the plans. Everyones plans seem to be going well.

I have now found some little seeds in a lovely vintage style bag that I am thinking of getting for our ladies favours. Men are having scratch cards I think.

Scary to think we will be paying out all the suppliers in a few months.

    Hello everyone!

    Its getting closer now!

Got to try my dress on yesterday Smiley smile Seems I have a lost some weight since I was measured ( dont know how though given I dont have time to exercise!) so it needs to be taken in a bit and also I am having a corset back put it so will be able to try it on again soon!

We have also booked our honeymoon now - going to NYC and then over to LA. Very excited!

Started sending out invites now slowly and love getting back the replies Smiley smile

    Hi Everyone,

I received my invites yesterday!!!! Cant wait to send them out, but we need to get little maps printed first, a few of our guests are from out of town.

We're meeting with our DJ this Saturday and he will be helping us with decorations and organising a timetable for the day, he's sooooo helpful ?

I've been thinking of having a wine tasting session to help decide what we would like served with our food and for the speeches.......is this a good idea or a waste of money? Or could you ladies recommend some wines/champagnes for me ?

I hope you are all doing great!!!

    Love to all xxxxx

Hi fellow July brides :0) We are getting married July 24th, cant wait!!!!! 131 days! We are getting married in Belfast city Hall then on to a hotel for our reception. Keeping it quite small & intimate for the day guests about 34 in total but havin a good knees up at the evening do. Its all about budget for us!

Found the perfect dress which I thought would be impossible for me being just 5ft! but its beautiful & very audrey hepburn! Because of this we are opting for a vintage theme & are taking swing dance lessons for our first dance!!

Im pretty organised so far, my fiance calls me MONICA! Got all the invites done - not sure when to post - on this site it says 4months before? but I was thinkin more 6-8 weeks? what do you think?

Only thing about being organised is just the WAIT til the big day cos nothin much else I can do now til near the time... but like every other bride has told me it'l be here & gone before you know it.

I know what you's mean about feelin like youre boring others about the plans - its literally all I can think about tho & its too excitin to keep it all in!!

Good luck to all the July brides tho - I'll be praying for sunshine like everyone else here Smiley smile

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! July is coming far too quickly!!

Just thought I'd do a quick "to do" list and so far I'm up to bullet point 20! Eek!

So, how's everyone getting on? I think I'm pretty much getting there.

Invites have been sent and we've had to odd reply which is quite exciting

Luckily, the "to do" list is mainly of little things like the seating plan, decoration plan for the venue, making sure everyones paid etc etc..

    xx

Hey Wickywack, I know its coming round so quick.

We are pretty much sorted I think. Have my hair trial next month which I am looking forward to. Have sent out the invites and had lots of RSVP's so thats good.

Can't believe its less than 2 months until my hen do ?

Are you making your own seating plan? I am dreading sorting this out. We had a little go the other night and it gave me a headache!

Are you having welcome drinks? If so what are you having?

Were having Pimms! (because it was the cheapest! hahahah) Just so happens that it's a nice summery drink!

I bought, from The Range, a glass deep framed box thing for my seating plan - were only having 40 guests so it should be fairly simple (fingers crossed). Our table set up is fairly non-traditional. Its in a pub so just lots of little tables, no head table as such!

Ohh exciting! My friend is doing my hair and makeup but she's just had a little buba (Elijah) so I haven't pressed this with her, and won't for a month or so I think! Too much baby stuff to do!

    Time is going very quickly!

We are either having pimms or bucks fizz- have not had to decide yet!

Today we are going for our menu tasting- very exciting and also going to order our rings from the Jewellery Quarter.

Day and most evening invites have been sent, just got to do work colleagues, and had a few replies ( but mainly from close family who we knew were coming anyway!)

    Hi all!

So with less that 8 weeks to go for me I'm starting to get nervous/anxious/excited!!

i've got a boudoir shoot on Saturday which I'm getting butterfly's about.

I did my table plan last night - its a deep framed picture box and I've put mini bunting inside saying "find your seat". We've decided to name our tables after biscuits (random, I know, but it was boy's idea and its cute and quirky). So we've got Vienesse whirl, hobnob, Jaffa cake etc etc - you can get miniature versions of these at the supermarket and were going to put a jar of the coresponding bisuit on each table all shabby chicified with labels and lace etc

I did my favours - little chocolates made to look like cup cakes (from Maple Molly's) wrapped in blue tissue paper with a brown paper tag!

Wedding transport is getting booked as I type..

Ruddy nora - the butterfly's are on overdrive now!

How's everyone else's planning? How are we all feeling?

Have not even thought about table plans yet! Not looking forward to fitting everyone into tables Smiley smile

My second bridesmaid came yesterday to try her dress on - luckily as she lives a couple of hours away and does not drive, it seems to fit ok! Having a couple of alterations done but the seamstress will do the final check for it the day before the wedding so she wont need to come up again.

Bought a tiara yesterday and ordered a veil from the good old internet as been struggling to find one I like. Also picked up our rings last week so that is all sorted.

Anyone else feel like time is going really quickly now??

So how is everyone getting on with the paying/ planning etc?

We have all the major things booked we just have all the little extras / pretty bits to do now. I feel a lot less stressed now everything is booked.

The only thing we are having major issues with is chair covers? Our company has let us down and double booked :/ so we need to find someone else. who are you all using? I'm in Kent.

Also how are people sitting people on the table plans. not sure whether to put people who know each other together or put them separately.

    xxxx?
