July brides, how you getting on?

Vikster79, 9 May, 2011 at 10:04 Posted on Planning 0 25

Ive had a few weeks off with one thing or another but am now back and full steam ahead and wondered how much you have left to do?

We are still waiting for our rings to arrive in the shop.

Cant really do Order of Day/Menus/Place/Table names till nearer the time.

The only thing i can do i suppose is sort a wedding breakfast music cd out - anyone else doing this (dont know where to start ?)

My OH is sorting the music out, he only has a couple of weddingjobs and I'm happy to delegate this one! He loves music so he's in his element.

Otherwise, I've got the ceremony choices booklet to fill out, hair comb to buy, rings, having make up trial on 18th, underwear needs buying before my final fitting on 28th may. But otherwise I'm stuck until the RSVPs come back in. Which is annoying as I'm off work with a gammy knee so have oodles of time to do things!

It's starting to get really exciting though, don't you think? x

I wish my OH wanted to take responsiblity of the music, but it looks like muggins here will have to bodge something together ?

Yes its starting to feel a little too close now, but if i keep writing lists of things to do and cross them off them it will be done in no time. I wish i had put the RSVP date a little earlier so we could actually see numbers IYSWIM as i want to invite more people but cant until i hear back from the others. Its a toughy.

Nearly everything is done my end now. The main thing I'm waiting for is my bloomin' dress...so until it arrives can't have a dress fitting or order a veil *grrr*. Have BM fittings this and next week, table plan to make and need to meet with venue/photographer just to finalise things but everything is just about done I think...I'm sure I'll think of things nearer the time lol! 8 weeks eeek!

Hi im putting a CD together too for wedding breakfast, i found something on itunes by 'vitamin string quartet' which is alot of instrumental music to modern and all the common love songs. Not to everyones taste i suppose.

Im most excited about my dress fitting on saturday and then my hen weekend end of may! Cant wait!

I set my RSVP date quite early too so luckily i have final numbers for day guests now! x

Still got a fair bit to do, favours, OH needs his ring, final dress fitting, hair trial, menu tasting, bridesmaids shoes, print off menus, evening invites to send out, wedding party gifts order wish tree I actually hadnt thought of music to play during the wedding breakfast, I cant remember ever noticing this at previous weddings that I've been to I guess theres never a quiet moment apart form the speeches which is probably why.

Our big day is now 10 weeks away - sounds so much shorter than 2 months!

Anyhoo....I think we're getting on ok. We've had almost all the replies (day and evening) back which is a miracle, only a few people to chase! I ordered favour boxes and sugared almonds at the weekend, so next saturday we'll be starting to put all of the favours together. Next job after that is to get on with place names, I'm just going to do them all and then bin the ones that don't get used! If I wait any longer it will be a rush and I really don't want that! I also have to make up the menus, and do the table plan proper, but I can't do that until we have all the replies obv!

Fiance and I still have to decide on some of the ceremony music - what we're playing to our guests while they arrive, what is played while we sign the register, and our exit music. I've got entrance music planned! I'm trying to book a harpist but I think I've left it a bit late ☹️ Then there's a CD to put together for while photos are being taken - a mixture of Jamiroquai and Jack Johnson I think!! We've got some soft jazz for the wedding breakfast which is rather nice.

We've got dates set for the menfolk to be measured up for suits, and also a date for the next round of dress alterations! Fiance and I are off to zap gifts for the gift list in a couple of weeks.

Still have to get thank you gifts but I know what we're getting for various people.

I also have to figure out how to make a wishing tree!! ?

Other than all that, we have to pay for stuff. Boo - not liking that bit at all!!

We had our final meeting at our venue sunday, our wedding co-ordinator is so good she really put me at ease with all the stuff left to do which thankfully is not too much now!

I have lots of 'little' bits to do, sort readings, download music for ceremony and wedding breakfast, childrens gift bags, jewellery etc.. the list does actually go on but i'm confident Il get it all done!?

My dress came into the shop last week and I just fell in love with it again! ?

By the way if anyone does work out how to make a wish tree or get one reasonably priced please could you share the info with me-Thanks girlies x

On my end of things, the only thing slowing me down is not having any money (OH has it all) and OH being away with work so much!

I'm still as behind! Its all good though, major things are all in place, lots of arty bits arrived for placecards etc, so will just wait until off for half term next week and I will get cracking. Still waiting for ebay dresses to arrive for bridesmaid, so that's the only major worry I have at the moment!

I like these threads.. always helps me put things into perspective. I write so many lists and they get scrapped because there's more to add and it gets complicated, I have so many lists in my planner, on my laptop.. etc

Money is holding me back big time, I've made most of the things I'm DIYing myself it's buying a lot of things I've left to do. Oh, and then there's all the balances that will be due soon!!!!!!

I think I am pretty organised actually! What I have left to do:

    - Finish favours (almost done)
    - Chase up RSVP's after next weeks deadline
    - Table plan (made a start on this though wont be finishing til nearer the time)
    - Place settings
    - Make a mock-up of my centerpiece to make sure it looks ok
    - Arrange pre-wedding appointment with photographer
    - Decide on the walking-out (can't remember the posh word for it) song for harpist to play
    - Fill in DJ form and burn a copy of first dance song onto CD
    - Book appiointment to get nails done the day before
    - Print out pics of hairstyles I like for hair trial
    - Make up a goody bag for pageboy nephew
    - Buy best man gift (H2B sorting this)
    - Meeting with registrar, they said they would send us a letter so we're waiting on them.
    - Buy or rent a hoop for dress

2nd dress fitting, hair and makeup trial and final details appointment are all booked and coming up in the next 3 weeks.

That's all I can think of, there may be a few other things I have forgotten.

Well I have about 9 separate orders coming through the post in the next week or so.. so you'll find me mainly kneeling beside the front door, peering out the letter box occasionally, waiting for my parcels.
