I really thought that once my dress was sorted everything would fall in to place, but I'm finding it so difficult to make decisions. I have too many ideas and not enough money/other peoples' opinions to help! OH has opinions, but they're not helpful because it's mostly saying no because he doesn't 'get' it.
We also recently had a small fall out because the idea of sorting a gift list really stresses him out because he "doesn't like asking for things". I made the point that I'd rather ask for things than get 20 "Mr and Mrs" photo frames/towels/other things. Even before we sent STDs (mis June this year) his family were asking about the gift list!
I still take comfort in the fact that we have most 'big' things sorted... just worried that things like decoration won't come together - ah!
Ooh, you're my date twin, I get married on the 25th too!
Don't panic yet, we've got over 9 months to go. I've kind of decided on bridesmaids, but my cousin, who I want to ask hasn't returned my message to her. May have to think again. I didn't want them at all, but my H2B and his mum think I should so I said yes. Might go back to my original plan and have none!

Bump
Wondered how people were getting on with their planning? We've ground to a halt again, although we're eagerly awaiting to hear back from our possible honeymoon destination - can't wait to start booking that, cos it also means holiday too - like double the excitement!! ?
Am also going to the National Wedding Show in London's Olympia on the 25th Sept with my mum and sister - am kinda worried about the whole WIC thing, but am hoping that there'll be some ideas for my hair and make-up ?
Were kind of at a bit of a halt too with what were able to book etc, bridesmaids are my next big task but dont think shops will have much in now till spring.
so trying to sort some littler bits out at the moment. Mens cufflinks, groom gifts, wedding party gifts etc
I am going to the national wedding show also but the Birmingham one 4th October, with my mom, hoping like you to see hair and make up ideas and maybe a veil as im not totally in love with the one i purchased, it was £7 from china and you can tell, if that makes sense so dont want to make my dress look cheap.
Also have ordered foam flowers all bouqets are made unique , they should get delivered before christmas so very excited to see these ?
I feel like I am getting somewhere finally. I did another thread on here with a whole essay about all the different weddings I have planned in my head and how I keep having to change things, mainly due to budget. Anyway we are now having a small legal ceremony on Friday 3rd then our real wedding in a garden on Saturday. We are going to rope in friends and family to do most of it but I'm looking for a celebrant type person to 'oversee' the whole thing and sort of bring it together.
I have ordered some samples of fabric for bridesmaids, we are having tulle skirts made.
We have also booked the first leg of our honeymoon! We're going to Australia for five weeks and we have just booked the outbound flight to Tokyo so far. Very exciting!
We're kind of at a halt too. Deposits have been paid for most things.
My bridesmaids accepted, so need to get dresses organised, but not actually seeing them until February, as they live quite a way from me - they're my cousin and her daughter. Only having the two, so that makes it slightly easier, not so many that they'll all want to be wearing different things and not agree!
Waiting to hear back from my venue, sent them an email with a list of questions, so hoping they'll get back to me soon. Disco now confirmed just need to confirm time for setup which goes back to the venue and my email.
Bought my wedding ring, but decided against it in the end. Bought from Ernest Jones, but after we bought it, I looked it up online to get a picture for my mood board and there were several bad reviews for it. It was silver with cubic zirconia. Apparently people have had trouble with the stones falling out. So I went to the shop today and returned it. We're on a very tight budget for the wedding rings, so it's making it difficult to find something especially when H2B would like a two tone band.
I'll probably be ordering my flowers this weekend. I'm having artificial as I wanted to keep them afterwards.
Well it looks like June next year is going to be busy, cant believe how many of us there are:
1st MrsBaker2016
2nd MrsRobertsToBe
3rd MrsLogan2be, snow bride and inovermyhead
4th jadeee, ustwo, MissRachael, Jessyka1990 and alibean84
10th *+zoef2205
11th soraneko, HappyOrangeCars336, FutureSamW, BriertonBride and bride in waiting
18th me and Lexi_K
25th Steepdene and pinkx
Like everyone else I'm in a bit of a quiet time atm. So far I have done:
Booked register office & done the official stuff
Booked hotel and sorted menu - king prawn (we both love them), roast chicken (h2b fav)
and cheesecake (we both love it)
Booked DJ and photographer and cars
Bought my dress (Alfred Angelo
893), veil and tiarra and bought the bridesmaids dresses, gifts and our rings
Organised chair covers, sashes and balloon arch - our colour scheme is fushia and silver
Booked a 10 day honeymoon in Spain and bought new luggage
Bought everything I need to make all the table decs and bouquets next year
Bought everything to make all the invites - we're going to ask people for money towards our honeymoon as we have everything we need for the house already
Yet to do:
January -Hit the sales with my BMs to sort shoes, jewellery and bags. Sort hairdresser
February - send out all invites
March - apply for passport in new married name. Finalise times, music etc with register office
April - Sort out mens outfits, might hire but probably just buy each of them a really good suit. Make table decorations - gonna have vases of flowers and a "Mr & Mrs Usher" set of letters as well as a postbox, picture of both sets of parents (deceased) and a ferrero rocher thing
May - make the cake and bouquets and finalise numbers. Mock up the table layouts to check we have everything and photo layout for the hotel to copy. Give list of 'definite songs to play' to DJ and list of photos we want to photographer
June - write table plan and name cards. Maybe organise a get together for the day after the wedding for those who have come a long way, maybe a bbq if the weather's good
Have I forgotten anything?
I'm just fiddling around with invite ideas for now and trying to get a few made each week as I have about 40 wedding and 100 evening invites to send out. We were limiting the wedding guests to 50 but my h2b's family have all said that they want to come to the whole thing and just coming to the evening isn't worth it so we now have to find the money and space for another 30 people -grrrrr

Ah Shelly that answers one of my conundrums!!
Our Wedding day is the 3rd of June
My current passport expires on the 9th June
Our honeymoon is looking likely to be booked for the 21st June!!!!! My puzzle is this......
Can I book the honeymoon, flights, etc in my married name now and wait to fill in passenger information (ie passport number etc) once I have my new passport in my married name?? Am planning on sending my passport application off in March also (worked out that is three months in advance!!) and then filling in air passenger info, and applying for my ESTA when I get it back with all the new details on it.....
Will take my driving licence to the States and will also have a copy of our marriage certificate to show why driving licence in maiden name but booking in married name!!! Seems very complicated, but does that sound about right to you guys?? ? ?

If it wasn't for the fact that my passport expires 6 days after we get married, I'd be inclined not to bother too. But it bugs me that to update my passport is gonna cost £90 and I'm then either going to have to keep it in my maiden name for another 10 years or pay out another £90 within the year to change it again.... it's a pain in the arse that's for sure!!! :-)
I don't have a passport yet so will be waiting till 3 months before which is the earliest you can apply, the register office fills out a form for you confirming your up and coming wedding. I haven't been abroad for years so don't know about anything else I have to do?
I'm new to hitched ,first post ! I'm getting married on the 18th June ! Getting there slowly with the planning ....dress ,venue ,photographer ,church ,cars sorted so far! So much to do still feels like a never ending extending list!
Forgot to say, our venue got back to us, but not with answers to the questions I asked - it's a smaller hotel in a larger chain, the chain has a couple of wedding co-ordinators who do the weddings at the other hotels. As of next year they are taking over the co-ordination of our venue, so we've now got to have a meeting with them at the end of the month to go over everything again! Aaaarrrgghhh! Just praying they don't change the cost, cause our venue is cheaper than the others in the chain. We've already signed a contract, so nothing should change, but I'm still a bit apprehensive.
So I've had an exciting day - first I got to take one of my BMs to my mum's house to show her my dress and shoes then I got home to find we've had a bit of surprise extra budget come in and put it into upgrading our photography package from 4 hours to all day which we've really wanted to do. Then We were in town this afternoon and OH bought his wedding ring unplanned which we both love. And now I've just sorted all our documents for giving notice on Thursday.
My feet are well and truly planted on this one and the more she pushes the deeper rooted they go, thankfully H2B has been very resilient also. It just seems like as soon as one disagreement is some way to being solved there is a new issue to deal with - we've had conversations about running off and getting married on a beach just to spite! (We never would, we're too family orientated and have paid enough out already!)
Engagement shoots are great, H2B wasn't thrilled with the idea to start with (along the lines of 'why on earth do we need one?') but he actually enjoyed it and feels a lot more comfortable about having pictures taken on the day now.
I'm browsing the internet trying to find bridesmaids dresses, I think this is just as difficult as finding my own dress!
Most things sorted, still waiting for my venue decorator to send through the paperwork. Got a meeting with our venue on Saturday. Otherwise we're nearly all planned/sorted.
Have a look at House of Fraser if you're not bothered about getting them made. My bridesmaids are all different shapes and sizes so I thought I'd have to spend a fortune but was pleasantly surprised!
Having a nightmare with H2B's family really, feel like I have no control over my own wedding and he is threatening to not tell them anything about the wedding at all if it carries on.
I've now got another bridesmaid, taking my number way above anything I ever wanted and includes people i'm not keen on having with me during what will no doubt be a very stressful morning!
On the bright side - florist is booked, engagement shoot went brilliantly and we're really pleased with the pictures, we have a tasting booked with a caterer in October and have had meetings with a few other potentials so there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I'm finding bridesmaid dresses pretty stressful, I'd love to just get them sorted but one of mine is pregnant (due beginning of Nov) so I don't wanted to wait for her. Although I'm looking at the multiway dresses so size isn't too much of an issue! Ordered a sample of some fabric from Etsy to see if they are are a possibility!
I think next on my list is going to be giving notice, and then hopefully the suits - if my h2b gets his act together and asks the best man!!!
I went into our guildhall to look at our notice again today - makes it so real! Had a stamp I ordered from eBay arrive last week to make our invites and decided which suits we want to hire, just need to go in with OH etc to try them.
My focus at the mo is to decide on music for the ceremony and first dance. We don't really have "our song" so trying to find something that is sweet but doesn't make me want to vomit haha. Don't want something really lovey lovey...
Although we do have a first dance song which my h2b actually picked, I was a bit wary of it but when I listened to the words it sums us up and I thought If that's how he feels it's soooo lovely, plus it's a little bit of him in our day. (Ps. Its the Courteeners, Take over the World)
For some reason my posts came up as a random name before, not sure what happened - but RomanticIvorybridesmaid is actually me! Weird, hopefully sorted now - logged out and back in!
Ooh will have to have a listen to that one 2, it's all the little things like the ceremony music etc that I haven't even considered yet!! It's crazy thinking how it's all going to come together!
Try not to panic, and try and enjoy the planning, it's hard but you will get it all sorted. I found dress shopping really put things into perspective for me and helped me get a real feel of the style of wedding/theme I was going for. I asked around recently married friends for recommendations of shops near me and just went for it! I wasn't expecting to but I totally fell in love with a dress, and once I got it ordered things felt a bit more settled. I'd possibly recommend having that high up on list of priorities or get done next!
Hello, How is everyone getting on? We have our appointment to give notice coming up. I have sent my passport off for renewal, really hoping it comes back in time. Apparently if it doesn't I need mine and my mum's birth certificate, asked my mum about this and she says she has 'no idea where either of the are'
I have joined a new gym this week and am determined to keep going three times a week. Trying to think of it as a long term thing rather than just for the wedding, it helps that our honeymoon is a couple of months afterwards so I will have to keep it up! I am also going to see a seamstress with my dress next week, which I'm so excited about! Can't wait to put it on again!
Ahh we have our notice appointment next week, can't wait but a little bit nervous as I don't know what to expect! I think I've sorted my bridesmaid dresses, and cake!! Think going for one of the Naked cakes, a chocolate brownie one! Yum! Just waiting on some samples! My dress is in store as well, so booked an appointment to go and try it on!! 2nd Nov, I can't wait! Oh and just confirmed a sweet cart for the day!!
Our honeymoon is booked, I'm keeping passport in my name as hoping to go away for a few days before the wedding but you have plenty of time so sure yours will be back in time so I wouldn't worry!
Love the gym membership, I'm a Personal Trainer so always love people getting into exercise, find something you love doing and you'll stick to it!! I've upped my gym game although I am a gym bunny at heart anyway - well it's my job! Haha!
I'm starting to get really excited again after a bit of a lull!!
Hope you have a fabulous day Pinkx, definitely agree about the added stress! I just went with my mum & my sister, have only shown my other bridesmaid my dress, I'm keeping it a secret!
