Hi again guys, went to our venue yesterday for their Wedding Fayre. Made contact with our DJ company which was good. Not much else achieved by going, except my two boys got to see it for the first time. Think my oldest (23) was impressed, but my youngest (10 next week) wasn't too impressed when I showed him the soft play area they have off the main reception room, one of the reasons we picked this venue! Apparently at the grand old age of 10 he'll be too old to play in there! I'm sure it'll be totally different on the day when he has some of his friends to play with.

Still haven't heard back from our venue decorator, starting to get a bit annoyed now, I've seen a few posts they've made on Facebook where it's been "oh we're really busy at the moment" and they've obviously had a family problem to deal with. I first contacted them back in August and it's now October. I didn't clarify what I wanted till the end of August. They contacted me a couple of weeks later to say they'd had another enquiry for our date so did we want to go ahead. I confirmed yes, I just needed to confirm exact numbers. I've now confirmed the exact numbers and twice she's said the paperwork will be sent to us, but nothing yet. I think I'm going to give them till the end of next week to reply before chasing again, giving them one more chance as at the wedding fayre where I spoke to them, she said the paperwork would be with us in the next week - now nearly four weeks later, nothing.

We went to give notice this morning. All was fine so its definitely happening!

I went to take my dress to show a dressmaker last week, I loved putting on again. It needs quite a bit taking in and taking off the length, which she said will be fine. We also talked about bridesmaids skirts. They are going to have different coloured tulle skirts which she will be able to make, I just need to find the right fabric.

One of my bridesmaids has offered to design my invitations so we've been sharing some ideas on Pinterest. I know they will look amazing.

Id like to get a sparkly belt for my dress in the evening. Has anyone else bought one? I've been looking online but I'm not sure they would be the right colour and some seem a bit cheap looking.

We have also booked a ceilidh band who are going to play for a couple of hours in the evening. We need a DJ for later on but are also toying with idea of just having a playlist and speakers.

How are the rest of you doing?

Hi guys, just checking in. We got our invites in this week, got the 40% off deal here on Twitch, so pleased with them. They really fit the theme I'm going for which is vintage lace.

Also had the venue decorator contact us and we've sent off the deposit for them.

Not much else going on at the moment, it's kind of wait until after Christmas to send out the invites.

We're now at 7 months 4 weeks and 2 days until we get married! Getting so excited already.

Wow love those invites, they look lovely! Def need to get started on invites so can send them out after Xmas - don't want them getting lost in Xmas post!!! Also going to start looking into suits, as my h2b has FINALLY asked his brother and best mate to be his best men!!!

I'm definitely falling into the trap of I'll look after Xmas but then will only have 5 months and so need to keep thinking I still have 2 months before Xmas, and can get lots done!

I'm mega busy at work Jan to Mar so I'm trying to get as much done as possible before xmas. I've made the covers for our wedding invites (4 diff designs as I couldn't decide which I liked best) and created the insides, just need to print them and then put it all together. The finished article is going to be a mini booklet. I've also written, enveloped and addressed all of our evening invites and glued and sprayed my "Mr & Mrs ****" letters. I'll put up a picture once they're decorated.

Our venue was open for a wedding fair two weeks ago so we also went down there to take pictures and have drawn up a floor plan and worked out where we want everything like our sweet table, cake and balloons etc. They've been wonderful so far and basically said they're willing to set up anything as long as I tell them where to put it all hence the floor plan, I'll also be doing a mock-up of the tables and photographing them for them

Over the last few weeks I've been beginning to doubt my dress choice to the point that I had complete meltdown and was crying about having done it all wrong etc so my h2b made me go down and talk to the dress shop. I'm so glad I did because they talked me into trying the dress on again and I fell in love with it all over again, the pictures just don't do it justice.

That's it for now, I plan to start experimenting with cake recipes so that I can start cake making in the new year.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Lovely invites, we must all be thinking around the same lines because I've ordered our evening invites today, so I can start getting them ready for posting in the new year!! Am just waiting for the personalised stamp to arrive and then I can start playing/designing the family day invites which I am going to attempt to make as we only need 5 and no where does that small a print run! Wish me luck hahaha ?

Checking in! Had an email from my flower lady I'm having an artificial flowers for me, bridesmaids and buttonholes. She's also doing a top table arrangement. She's starting on my order and I'm so excited to see them all!

Can't decide on bridesmaids dresses though, it's the last thing I need to get sorted and I'm procrastinating and second guessing myself. Aaarrrgghh! I'm only having two, my cousin and her 13 year old daughter and it's so difficult to find something which will look good on them both. They don't live near me, so I won't be seeing them until February half term, so I have till then to find something. I hate to think what trouble others have with more bridesmaids to please!

I feel your pain with bridesmaid dresses Steepdene, one of my two bridesmaids is currently pregnant well due to give birth any time now and I haven't been able to sort it yet! It's one thing I want to cross off but I can't!!! Arghh!!

I am also stressing over suits, we've done nothing and I really think we need to, I don't want it to get left until after Christmas!

Taking our mums to our wedding venue for afternoon tea a week on Sunday so think that will put things into perspective xxx

Ive got a few updates too!

    1. I've finally convinced OH that it's not too early to look at suits so we are going to do that next weekend!

2.I have next Wednesday booked off for a wedding day with my mum - we're going to hobby craft to look for invites bits and anything else she needs (she's making my bouquet, bunting and a patchwork blanket 'guestbook'!

    3. We have now asked both our witnesses - they were both so happy to be asked which has reinforced we've made the right decision as we were going back and forward on who to ask for ages

    4. I've booked my hen do - house in the country with a hot tub for a weekend mid April, can't wait!

June 2016 is fast approaching, ladies! ?

    Hi ladies

feeling a bit more positive this morning, had date night last night with OH at a Tuscan restaurant and the wine helped me relax a little..!

Finally came and up with a plan and persuaded OH that he needs to at least try on some suits soon, would quite like to just have a short list this side of Christmas, we also decided it's time to start looking at wedding bands so we have booked next Saturday for a day in London for both, and I slipped in there I needed my shoes ASAP!

The save the dates have finally gone out, I had a few addresses I was waiting on but really happy with the result, had to do two different styles, one for Italy and one for Uk and made them myself which in hindsight was a much bigger job than I initially thought but it saved us some money and I like that it made them more personal. Pics below if you want to see Smiley smile

I've got my first dress fitting booked for 28th Nov!!!! Eek! Has anyone else had theirs yet? I'm worried as the first one I'm going to be going alone.. The lady in the shop said I need my underwear, shoes and petticoat. I had nothing at the start of the week so ordered a huge range of bras: corsets etc from gig leaves and miraculously one got perfectly!!! That never happens so I'm really happy, ordered a petticoat from eBay and praying that's good enough too!

    Xx

Cr*p.. Just seen on the news about Paris.. Terrorist attacks. Me and OH are off in 2 weeks for an anniversary weekend there and for me to do my first dress fitting (long story but went with sister, mum and Mum for a surprise 60th trip for mum and we went dress shopping for me for fun as I was recently engaged.. Ended up falling in love with my dress and due to the amazing exchange rate I saved a massive amount even factoring in return trips!)

    So awful.. And scary xx

Hi everyone, nothing much to report at the moment really as I've done all I can before the new year. Off out next weekend with my chief BM to have a look around at jewellery and shoes but will probably wait until the January sales to actually buy anything

How much is anyone paying for their hair? I need to get mine and 4 BMs done but have no idea of what would be a reasonable price

It's exactly seven months until we get married! Woohoo, most friends on Facebook seem to be posting that it's one month until Christmas, I wanna post it's seven months till the wedding! Nothing much to report, other than that, we're fairly organised (or should I say I am?!).

OH has always been adamant he wants to buy a normal suit so that he gets to keep it after the event but I persuaded him to at least try on a morning suit. So last Saturday off we went to the shops and he tried on the full outfit with winged shirt etc and he took one look and demanded that him, the best man(his son) and my son all wear them! I'm so pleased as it's what I've wanted them in all along!

Also started looking at recipies for carrot cake and lemon cake so will be experimenting with different things over the next few weeks much to my friends delight as they get to try all of the results.

All my invites are now printed, enveloped and waiting to go but I cant decide when to send them out. I'm thinking of posting them with my Xmas cards but is this too soon?

Other than that, all quiet here

Hey Girls, ooh exciting 7 months - it's just over 6 months to mine - so exciting! Not much to report here, finalising our invites to order this weekend, and trying on suits for the OH!! Can't wait for this actually, the kind of final piece! And my bridesmaid finally had her baby (15 days overdue) this week so I'm one step closer to ordering my bridesmaid dresses!

I am also going for a face mapping consultation at Dermalogica for some new skin care, as a recommendation from my make up artist!! So that should be interesting!

    It will all come together!

Hi all, just checking in as I'm feeling organised and not at the same time and it's giving me the dreaded wedding nightmares...

I have written out a list of things to each for each month and checked that it covers everything on the online "checklists" you get so I think I'm ok until I want to add little 'touches' and then I need to work out where to put it!

I have now sorted: Church, venue, entertainment (band), florist, cars (for me and dad to church and me and H2B from church to venue) , my dress and shoes, sent STDs, bought centrepiece cages, sent invitation and other stationery ideas to my dad (who is helping design and print), H2B is in the midst of honeymoon planning and is happy to be just left to it now (which is a HUGE relief).

We have our menu tasting in January, my dress fitting and church preparation meeting in February. I have a design for my invitations, but the venue hasn't bothered confirming any timings with me yet so we can't print. I'm not planning on sending mine until end of Feb/start of March as I've read that if you give people too much time they don't bother/forget/lose the details! So I have plenty of time and hope to be able to have a chat in Jan to work it all out as I need to confirm it all with other vendors as well.

Things I would like to get settled soon are: give hotels a call and see if they can do me any deals as it turns out that the deal my venue is doing out does the nearby Premier Inn by miles! And get back in touch with the lady making my bridesmaid dresses as I would like to finalise colours and how the process will work before I settle in for Christmas.

All I have for next month is booking the honeymoon, discussing hymns, music and readings for the church and choosing wedding rings as I didn't want to put any pressure on as I know we're away a lot to make sure we see people before Christmas. I think I have the rings sorted anyway, so maybe we'll manage to get a good deal in over the holiday season Smiley smile I also have the hymns picked out, but need to run them by H2B to see how he feels about them.

Do I sound organised? I think I'll have to start buying the things I'm just waiting around for soon or I'm going to explode... and then H2B will explode, because I have no idea where any of it is going to go - haha

We've now bought everything to make the invites, so now I'm looking at the wording. Some of it is so sickly sweet so trying to get something a little more down to earth. OH has a Saturday off in a couple of week so we're going to go and pick out suits. We're also trying to work out the evening food too - we're going to attempt to DIY a finger buffet as we're on a tight budget so I've been pricing that up!

    200 days on Tuesday!

We're just in the process of ordering stationary, it took me so long to get the wording right now I'm a little scared to send the email to go ahead!!
They will be ready at the beginning of jan, then will get them sent out, not got much else to sort at the moment just looking out for drinks deals which seem to be in abundance!
I hoping my dress will be in soon, really want to try it on as looking at pictures is giving me second thought but almost certain when I try it again I'll love it again!
Other than that all pretty quiet on the wedding front!

Hi Ladies - I've had an exciting weekend, ordered our invites - was scary pressing the order button, I'm still worried about the wording & that I've got something wrong! Like the date! Haha! No matter how many times I checked them I'm still panicking! We asked for money for our honeymoon as gifts (controversial I know) and I'm worried about the wording as I think we've been quite blunt as OH didn't like the waffle!!

It basically says, if you'd like get us a gift to send us on our way, cash towards our honeymoon would really make our day. However if you'd like to buy a gift please feel free to surprise us in your own special way! (If you don't like it please don't say as they are ordered, haha!)

We also tried suits on yesterday and I think we have found the ones! And the OH surprised me again by wanting a more weddingy waistcoat so he will have a flashy silver one, where as the others will all be in matching navy 3 piece suits, and the ties/waistcoat match the bridesmaid dress material perfectly! ??

I feel really organised now, all suppliers sorted I think and just finalising details now, which is where I wanted to be before Christmas, roll on December! 6 months on Friday ?

We're really lucky because my dad is dealing with the invitations and stuff, so I have complete control over design and wording - it is still scary though, deciding exactly how you're going to say everything! I've done a lot of researching and thought I had found the perfect wording... then gave it to dad to put together and one it came back I was unsure again. Far too much worrying over something people will barely pay attention to - they only really want to know the where and the when, right? Smiley smile

Very excited about getting mine sorted, but need to put together gift registry, accommodation plans and confirm timings before we can settle anything - which is a little frustrating, but it's nice to have something to look forward to Smiley smile

Still to sort: invites (have all bits, just need to combobulate them and need a printer to complete the inserts!!)

wedding rings - will order after chrimbo

his suit - after chrimbo and as it'll be fairly informal and not renting it can be left til quite late

flowers - will sort a month before as I only require a small-ish display

I feel quite organised, got invites ordered - should arrive next week, we need to go and order our suits - decided on them now so just to make final order!! I've got all suppliers booked (I think!!) so just need all the final meetings & to make all the final decisions! Scary! I do have little crazy moments where I get so stressed that it's all going to come together ok but then I just get excited again!!

I always forget about the actual rings! Haha! Probably one of the most important bits, we are going to pick ours in January. Going to go back to the Jewellry Quarter in Birmingham, it's where I got my engagement ring from!

I think the next 6 months is going to fly by, with Christmas almost here it'll be the New Year before we know it! Xxx

Six months today! I can't believe how quickly the days seem to be going down now. Especially as I seem to have been counting down to my wedding for as long as I can remember- I can remember when it was 800 days!

Reading all your posts, I think we still have quite a lot to do. We have booked a ceilidh band for early evening but still need a DJ for afterwards. My friend is getting on with designing our invitations so hopefully will be able to get them printed just after Christmas. I've started a wedding website so that I can keep the invitations simple (and keep printing costs down). We need to get OH's outfit sorted. He's not going to wear a full suit but I would really like him to try on some waistcoats, he thinks they don't suit him but I don't think he's ever actually worn one. I also need to get bridesmaids outfits sorted.

I'm thinking about booking a boudoir shoot. I was definitely against the idea as it is really not me but he asked me if I was going to have one the other night and when i said 'definitely not!' He said he thought it would've been nice. So I've chatted to my bridesmaid who had one done before her wedding and she said she would definitely recommend it. I won't tell him and the pics will be a surprise. My only problem is how to pay for it without him noticing. They are not cheap!

We also need to think properly about our honeymoon but we do have a bit of extra time as we're not going until the end of July.

Ahh date twins MissRachael, and maybe also name twins with a different spelling! I'm Rachel!

I looked into a boudoir shoot, I don't think my OH would ever even have thought of it but as you say it's so expensive and although I'm sure he'd love it, I'm just not sure! I've bookmarked a website on the internet that looked good but I think it's just too much money! I can't believe it's only 6 months, not been counting down as long as you - we only booked a year in advance xx

Oh yes- date and name twins!

I've booked the boudoir shoot! Still can't believe I've actually done it! My bridesmaid talked me into it. She said it was expensive but she saw it as a once in a lifetime thing and something that you can both look at when you're 90 and wrinkled. She also said her husband loved opening it on the wedding morning.

I need to get rings too. I was thinking just a plain band but then I went and tried on one with a twist and diamonds set into it and I really loved it. It was more than the budget for both our rings though.

I've been keeping up with my gym membership, have managed an average of three times each week I reckon. I had a weigh in yesterday and have lost a grand total of..... 2 lb! ? It's more about keeping myself awake and feeling ok through the dark months though, which is definitely working so it's all good.

    Venue

Registrar (and date set to give notice)

    Photographer

    Cake

    Centre Pieces and Favours sorted

    Shoes

    Suits for the grooms party

Was feeling on top of the world and fairly organised considering i only started planing in mid November - and then my photographer pulled out on me. He was the only local person i liked and now i have to start from Scratch :-/

Ooh exciting you've booked the Boudoir Shoot, you've really tempted me to do it now!! I might have a proper look into it and see if I think I can save the extra bit for it! I agree it would be special, and possibly fun!!

Well done on the weight loss that's great, don't focus so much on the weight loss but more on how you feel, and the results will catch up! Scales are evil anyway! (Sorry Personal Trainer mode - it's my job!!!)
