Hi all

My OH and I are getting married on 20th June 2015. We are having a church ceremony at 1.30pm followed by our reception at a golf club with a sit down 3 course meal and evening buffet later! we have 50 daytime and 100 evening guests roughly and will be having a DJ for evening entertainment! Our colour scheme is shades of coral and peach! For centre pieces we are having square vases with pebbles and floating candles!

I think I will probably have an A line gown with veil, tiara and my hair down and wavy! I am hoping to have coral roses for my bouquet and other flowers. I have 5 bridesmaids and hopefully they will be wearing knee length summer dresses in coral or peach!

Not sure about cars yet, might just borrow a friend's or hire a posh taxi lol

Sorry for the information overload but I love hearing about peoples wedding details!

Any other 2015 brides want to share their plans?? ?

xxx

I'm not as planned as you guys but thought I would do a flash - ours is a very DIY wedding so here goes nothing.......

    Dress inspiration so far:

Bridesmaid dress colour - they can chose the style -

    Church

    Reception barn, courtyard and inside

Hehe! This made me giggle ladies - I also wondered which room you were talking about - I thought I'd missed a flash...!

I feel very lucky to be able to have that room in the morning. Before we booked the venue we were (play) fighting over who would stay at home to get ready and who would go to a hotel. I'm glad it's worked out this way because as much as I love our two cats, I want my wedding day to be the one day that I can go somewhere and NOT be covered in cat hairs!! I'm going to leave sticky rollers all over the house for the best man to roll over OH before he leaves the house and put another one in the car for a last minute rollover!!

I love these dresses! Both of them are adorable. Really hope one of them works for you. The second one is my favourite - where is it from?

Scottish Sarah - I love your dress, it's absolutely stunning! And the colour of your bridesmaids dresses is beautiful.

Are you decorating the barn yourselves or do you have a company coming in to do it? It looks like an amazing barn - really rustic! It's the kind of thing we were looking for but the thought of having to decorate and hire everything ourselves was a little too daunting for us! But I still hanker after those lovely pom-poms and lights from the ceiling - they look amazing!

Sorry for the multiple posts, ladies. I'm not very savvy when it comes to quoting different people at once but I had too many things to compliment tonight having been too busy to get on here today.

And lastly, I'm in Kent! I will also be partaking in a little fizz in the morning, toasting the beautiful sunshine that Kimiu has ordered! ☀️

We are decorating it ourselves along with family and friends but to say the guys that run it are really relaxed and let us get on with it is an understatement - we have access from Thursday morning so plenty of time to get it all done hence not minding the challenge :-) Plan is for fairy lights on all the low down beams then long rectangular tables between the sections.

Thanks the dress is inspiration at the moment as getting it tailor made in Vietnam when I go in April want it slightly more A-line then that but still with the capped lace sleees and cut neckline.

Wow, you all seem so organised! We're getting married 6th June and so far have decided on a venue. That's it lol, we are on a minuscule budget, we are planning a humanist ceremony and a French theme for our reception. We're getting married in an old hotel in Cardiff. Reading your posts is freaking me out, we only decided to set a date last week!

Scottish_Sarah, your pictures look amazing - that barn is HUMUNGOUS!!! I look forward to seeing it all come together on the day! The thought of a barn was lovely, but daunting for me, so we've opted for the easy "all in one place" option of a country club. I do love the barn look though - so romantic!

Welcome aboard cjarman! We're date twins! Well technically 'triplets' as Kimiu is also June 6th!

You have plenty of time - don't panic! lots of people on here plan their weddings in 6 months - you just need to be fairly organised.

Have you thought about what kinds of things you'd like?

We're here for help and advice if you need us!

I'm really starting to have concerns about our wedding reception venue now. It all started off on the wrong foot but I was talked into it 'all being ok' by them

Firstly we were told that the carpet in the main dining area would be changed before our wedding........not true

Secondly we had 3 or 4 different wedding coordinators in as many months.....another concern

Thirdly we were told that we'd still have to pay the £495 for the room hire after we told them we weren't getting married there (that's because we're still having the small marquee for arrival drinks and drinks in between when they change the room round)

NOW today after I asked for the discount code for the hotel within walking distance next door (asked many many times before) that they don't give the discount code for that hotel any more and they use one 3 miles away!! That's no good as will need to arrange transport etc so more expense which I don't want!

    What do I do?!?! :-(

    AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!

Oh no, that is stress you can do without.

Without seeing it, it is difficult to comment. I don't know enough about what constitutes a "breach of contract" to give any advice on whether you could look elsewhere, but you could certainly threaten it and ask for some sort of a rebate?

Is there anything that can be done to minimise the carpet distress? Our venue has a garish carpet, but once it has the aisle runner on it for the ceremony, and the dance floor on part of it for the evening, it doesn't really hurt my eyes as much as it first did! And I'm sure on the day I won't even notice, neither will my guests.

The cost of the non-room and the marquee bit seems extortionate if you are not using it! Definitely argue over this one.

And as for the rooms, I would ask them to honour the discount that they said at the beginning - tell them this was an integral part of why you chose their particular venue. If they cannot provide the discount code, ask them to pay for the cost of a coach between the venue and the "new" hotel. Again, I don't know enough about contract law to give anything more constructive than this.

Main things are, though, that nothing is horrific - it is not that your venue is not available, or that your caterers have suddenly gone bust. Keep smiling Smiley smile

We haven't signed any paperwork with them at all. The only thing I've done is pay £100 deposit so far. It just annoying me, a niggle in the back of my mind.

When we booked originally it was on the condition that the carpet would be changed before the wedding, this was only verbally agreed with the wedding coordinator at the time and on the request form we filled in at their wedding fayre. It's a horrible orange colour carpet and looks tatty, they've had dividers up in the past and there's bits of carpet missing which they've tried to patch up grrr

I know it's not the end of the world that now the hotel is further away etc etc but it's one thing after another with them and looks like I'll just have to suck it and see if it's ok on the day as we can't afford anywhere else

I'm definitely arguing over the room/marquee hire cost when we go for our meeting there next month because that's just out of order

    Thanks for your help Kimiu

I do agree that it would be annoying. A niggle when you are wedding planning is not really what you are after. I hope you can get things sorted satisfactorily....you don't really want to be having to look for somewhere new at this stage if you can help it.

I know we would be stumped if we had to change our wedding venue now. Thankfully we've got no niggles, but if they did arise, I know it would make me quite sad/mad/grumpy and all emotions related!

A verbal contract is still a contract - even if it is with someone who has left the venue....don't let things drop too easily!

Make a list of what you were promised/conditions you made at the time of the original booking. Put them all down in writing and send them over saying that you expect them to be honoured.

I know exactly how your feeling FutureMrsB, we felt so let down with our venue and their attitude that we cancelled. They even refunded our £1000 deposit and I'm now over the moon because we've managed to book our dream venue who have done us a fantastic deal, so don't give up!!!
We were having a marquee but now we have opted for a manor house which is so stunning.
Trying to figure out how to flash my venue Etc once i know I'll show you all x

LRD, glad you managed to get your venue sorted - it does seem like a very big headache to be presented with!

Only news for me is that my memory charms for my bouquet are on their way...the photo that she has sent me of them is gorgeous, so I am looking forward to seeing them in real life for the first time in the next couple of days. It's only a small thing, but it is a really important part of the day to know that our parents will be with us in some way.

On another note.....SO ready for it to be December next week....one step closer to JUNE!!!!!!!!

Oh FutureMrsB that sounds awful! But I think your right to go looking around this weekend and see what else is available - these guys don't sound great!

You've got loads of time though - look at all the Hitchers who organise their weddings in 6-7 months!

Whilst looking though, I think you should still be chasing these guys for answers though - just in case. Can you go in and speak to them soon to tell them your concerns face to face and see if they can try and put things right? I'm not sure I'd want to wait until next month.

I really hope you get it sorted x

When you go to type a message, in the box above the text is a picture of a piece of film.....2 icons away from the smiley face.

Click on that, and it will ask you for the picture you want to upload from your PC or phone, and away you go!!
