Hi all

My OH and I are getting married on 20th June 2015. We are having a church ceremony at 1.30pm followed by our reception at a golf club with a sit down 3 course meal and evening buffet later! we have 50 daytime and 100 evening guests roughly and will be having a DJ for evening entertainment! Our colour scheme is shades of coral and peach! For centre pieces we are having square vases with pebbles and floating candles!

I think I will probably have an A line gown with veil, tiara and my hair down and wavy! I am hoping to have coral roses for my bouquet and other flowers. I have 5 bridesmaids and hopefully they will be wearing knee length summer dresses in coral or peach!

Not sure about cars yet, might just borrow a friend's or hire a posh taxi lol

Sorry for the information overload but I love hearing about peoples wedding details!

Any other 2015 brides want to share their plans?? ?

    Even better!!

My dress was the first one that the lady in the dress pulled, just to get an idea of shape. Needless to say we weren't looking at the price, as it was only to get an initial idea of what would suit.

Needless to say, I fell in love with it, and ended up going back for it a week later. Tentatively had a look at the price tag....and it was £1 under my budget!!

    It was meant to be!!

Fingers crossed for the church though! Nowadays it seems to come down to personal preference of the clergy involved, which doesn't seem fair to me. If a couple wants to get married in church for the "right" reasons, then they should be allowed to do so!

At least we now have other choices in terms of lovely venues......it is only a few years ago that us divorcees would have been shunted off to the registry office wearing a grey suit.....?

I couldn't either, but by clicking on the username instead, you can go back and find other posts and access it that way! I've bumped it up now so it is easy to find on page one of this forum.

What time of the day are you all getting married? I went through this with h2b the other day, I proposed 2pm and he said 12:30 so I went with that lol. Haven't quite worked out if that's a good time or not

Kimiu - you're putting me to shame with how organised you are date twin!!

Im going to get on with list making today and write down everything that needs to be done. I work as a nanny so the summer has been very busy as the kids were on school holidays and I feel like I haven't really been doing anything much in the wedding world - apart from getting a daily fix of hitched of course!

Now that life is back to normal I'm going to get organised.

On a previous post I'd written down things I'd done and asked if I'd forgotten anything obvious - which it seemed I had! Rings...

I'm in a bit of a pickle about what to do though but I know I need to make a decision soon. My mum passed away when I was little and my dad gave me her engagement & wedding rings when I turned 25. Both of these are yellow gold which I don't wear but I've always loved having them.

As OH and I don't have (and won't be having) children of our own, I'd always thought I'd pass my mothers engagement ring on to my nephew so that he could propose with it, or use the stones to have a ring made, or whatever he decided to do with it. Kind of nice to have a family heirloom type of thing.

BUT, recently I've been thinking I might like to use the diamonds from it myself and have them put in my wedding ring. My mums ring is like a (very) small version of Princess Di's (and now Kate Middletons) ring - a sapphire surrounded with diamonds.

I think my problem is I think it's selfish of me to have changed my mind about what to do with the ring. I've never discussed it with my nephew or my brother, or my Dad for that matter so it's not as though there are expectations but I can't make it sit right in my head.... Maybe because for all these years they've just sat in a box being looked at occasionally and now I want to do something with it.

Ramble, ramble!! Anyone have any thoughts, or opinions about it? I know I need to decide soon.

Pipsybus - i think it would be lovely to take the diamonds and sapphire and put them into your wedding ring, and in a way you will be creating a 'new' family heirloom starting from something that your mum had.

I was given my great grandmothers engagement ring, its soo tiny and over 100 yrs old. I am tempted to have the diamonds and stones removed to make something that i would wear.

Ok...here is my take on it.

What if you give it to your nephew to propose with. And he doesn't like it, or his new fiance doesn't like it, and it simply gets put away in a drawer again. Or if he likes the idea of ring shopping for a new ring for his new life. What if he feels "obliged" to use it, because it is "family" when really he would love to be able to do something completely different! All those things would be so sad, and not what the original giver or recipient of the ring would have wanted.

Whereas a ring (or two rings) that have been given new life and are worn every day with genuine love and appreciation, well, that is something special that there can be no price on, no value to.

For me, it would be a no brainer. I lost my dad, and so know how you feel to a certain extent, although his jewelry only amounted to a wedding ring, cufflinks and a pocket watch. If I were having yellow gold, I would have used the wedding ring, I am sure, but I've got 18k white rather than his 9k yellow. But his cufflinks will be worn by my son when he gives me away and his pocketwatch will be worn by H2B on the day.

Whatever you do, you will make the right decision - for you, for your mum, for your dad, and for anyone else.

Scottish_Sarah - you are well in the throes of planning, so no need to think you are not organised! I am sure you are as organised as anyone else, judging by that list!

I'm a bit excited because I think I may have just been able to source my perfect table numbers.....I've sent an enquiry off, and have my fingers firmly crossed! Oh, and my confetti arrived today too. All these things make me smile :-)

    ? Hi!

I think because I live in Scotland but organising a wedding in Cambridgeshire I don't feel very organised - we are down for a week so been sorting quite a bit.

Just been for a meeting with our venue I still love it and they are so good got a big long list and many things now seem more sorted but also added to the list of to do stuff - mainly getting tables and chairs - originally we were having the barn tables and bales for seating but they will be too low so had to change it.

    OK so here's whats going on now;

our colour scheme is still peach & coral, I have changed my mind on the table centres but haven't bought anything yet except little heart shaped chalk boards for place settings. I have 6 bridesmaids instead of 5 now. I sent out or save the dates the other day!

I went to my best friends wedding in August and she had an A line gown with veil, tiara and her hair down and wavy! Basically she looked exactly how I imagined I would look on my day when I first got engaged! LUCKILY all my ideas changed months ago when I started trying on dresses and I've just bought a beautiful lace and organza fishtail gown. Not sure if I will have a tiara as my veil is so beautiful and I plan to have my hair in either a side ponytail or side bun! I bought my shoes too!

we decided we did want a car after all and decided to go for a vintage ivory Jaguar!

We've booked our honeymoon to Zakynthos, Greece where we got engaged!

I've got the bridesmaids outfits, invites & flowers which left to organise now! Need to think about music for the church as well. My mums doing our favours and my bms are helping to decorate the venue. Still got 9.5 months to go though so no rush! Smiley smile

    Ooh, MrsHDouglas.....its all coming together!

nammy - I bet you are counting the minutes down to home time so you can see your dresses!!

My exciting news today is that my bridal party gift bags arrived from ebay, so I can start finding bits and bobs to go in them. I "bought" some soap and glory stuff minatures from Boots using accumulated boots points today, that I can pop into some of the bags. I'm also going to go for the traditional gifts of a bit of jewelry for the girls (Pandora beads probably) and a hip flask or similar for the men, but also things like minatures of their fave tipples, and a few funny bits. I was away at the weekend and snaffled a couple of sachets of Nutella at the hotel breakfast as my daughter is addicted to the stuff, for example haha!

Little things keep me happy....... Smiley smile

I think navy is such an elegant colour, and you can match pretty much anything to it, so you have made a good choice!

I think I'll go for a summery bright colour in contrast for the flowers, think h2b wants light grey suits, his choice, I'm letting him choose the suits himself, I'm not involved in that!

exciting stuff for you too! :-)

My H2B chose his own suit too - I work on the basis that I was choosing MY dress, and I wouldn't expect him to tell me what to wear - so if he wanted to choose something himself, suitwise, then he should! Thankfully he has very good taste (he is marrying me, after all) and so I knew I could trust him at the Tailors!

He has opted for a navy 3 piece suit, with peach/coral tie and pocket square......I did have to refrain myself from jumping on him when he tried it on at his first fitting.....it looks lovely on him!!!
