Just been given my first Photography assignment of my new course......

And I am very excited,

The tutor would like us to "think outside of the box" for the subjects, there are 4 subjects, you have to chose one and present a portfolio of 12 images along with a work book, the subjects are -

A day out

Faces

A public or family event

My favorite place

Could be pretty standard boring stuff but Ive had a few ideas for out of the box, havent thought about it too long as Ive just done a 9am till 4pm about Apature sizes, shutter speeds, f stops, film speeds stc and my head is whizzing

so far I have come up with

Faces----- perhaps clocks or watches, then I thought about people with disfigured faces (dont know how easy this would be to arrange) and promote them in a positive way.

A public event--- perhaps a peace rally or a march.

A day out --- relese from prison (but this would be near impossible as I only know one person in prison and if i see him I may kill him ?.

but have hit a brick wall now perhaps a hot bath and a glass of wine will do it

the dead line is in 6 weeks so not too long to arrange

Outside the box with faces could be soemthing like faces of politics, like showing capitalism, socialism etc. dont think of ACTAUL faces.

i like your day out idea. you only need one person, and some handcuffs to make it work. you could shoot in a cemetary, a lauderette, places like that.

public event? outside the box might be shooting a big banner ticker in the city if you live in or near london - as in credit crunch public event. or finding a street with lots of for sale boards, a tramp or two, cheap cars on a dodgy car lot.

favourite place could be all kinds of things. you could even shoot yourself wearing headphones a nd similar to show that youre in a place that only you know about.

outside the box means just that though - dont do anything too close to the brief, use it as a reference, thats all.

hot bath/glass of wine = favourite place.

Can't help with ideas, I'm rubbish at creativity.? We've been told we all have to do the same, so our first two portfolios are on the theme of "Nature" and the second on the theme of "Time" with two digital manipulations per image. I'm thinking waterscapes for nature, not sure for time yet.

    I'm doing the level 2.

Dudley. They were the only place offering it in the evenings. Class is tonight, but I'm still flued up so have to miss this week. If I went tonight I wouldn't be up to work tomorrow.

This reminds me of some shots I took for my photography A Level. The teacher asked us to take photo's along the theme of "nice vehicle". as you can imagine, everyone came in with shots of fancy cars, ferreri's etc, but me I took it a bit sarcastically and when and took some shots of my grandpa's old truck....which was knackered and been sat in a field since his death 10 years previously. My teacher didn't really get it at all. I thought I was inspired ?
