To be honest me and OH think there is something odd about the photos.
They are a TOGs pics and if you look at the above pic there are hardly any guests for such a big venue, nothing on the tables. OH said maybe its the evening do. But why is no-one dancing? You can't dance with an Ian Stuart copy dress cake on the dancefloor!
How do I know its an Ian Stuart? Cos the TOG had photographed the label of the dress, the 4 pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes etc. Its like some sort of bizarre showcase being passed off as a genuine wedding.
I don't want to say anything horrible about the bride and groom. They are a good looking couple. But something isn't right.
And yes, why would you replicate your dress in your cake?
And none of the comments/likes are from the bride or groom (who might not be on FB, granted), yet all the suppliers are linking, liking, sharing and commenting on each other.
You don't fancy changing your toppers to to be intricate dress designs rather than people? Hehe. It's a lovely idea for a cake, but surely with so few guests you do not need that much cake, and why would you want it? You'd have your actual dress to show people! Very strange
Hmm I agree it's quite odd. Think this TOG is related to another TOG who does A LOT of advertising around here (Manchester/Cheshire) and seems to have a lot of industry friends. There is a local wedding mag you get at wedding fairs which is just full of these suppliers congratulating each other. Always the same ones. Made me steer well clear. Incidentally a bridal shop seems to be 'liking' a lot of his photos on facebook but their branch in my town has closed down.
That is just monstrous! Even the bride doesn't look happy about it. I know it's all about the bride on her big day but surely that is taking it too far! Hey everyone - look at this cake statue - of ME!!
I'm thinking they spent so much money on cake, shoes, doves, dress etc that they couldn't afford any more guests. You have to work out your priorities and cut your cloth accordingly
Can you imagine the cake cutting? Where would you cut?! Or do you just stab it?
As a photographer, I often get in and shoot the "other room" and a lot of venue details when the guests are dining, and I often shoot the room the wedding breakfast is in before the guests arrive and move everything about, In this way, you can get the details, and everthing laid out beautifully, as it was intended to be seen.
Often, in the gap between the meal and the evening, the room where the dancing / evening do is going on is laid out ready, and you will often find the odd guest taking a quiet moment in there. Thats what I can see in these images.
If a couple had a cake like this at one of the weddings I was shooting, it would clearly be an important thing to shoot, and for sure, I would capture it, and go to town on it a bit, just like this photographer has. I guess the shoes are the bridesmaids, and again a lot of brides love the detail shots.
All I can see here is a normal wedding, where a lot of money has been lavished on things that are important to the B&G. The photographer is doing a good job of recording what is around him, in a way that fits the wedding.
Some people "do labels" others don't. They are not important to me, but if they are apparently important to some brides and grooms, because of this, I often shoot them, because for some people, its part of their day. Most photographers will get a feeling for this, and it may have even been discussed before the wedding.
Don't forget that also, Photographers are often approached by the cake maker, band, DJ, caterer for shots of the products & staff in action/situ. Had I made that cake, I would be wanting one!
