Just can't Decide!!

ChannyPink, 25 April, 2013 at 15:54 Posted on Planning 0 13

I'm so going to be rubbish at this wedding planning lark, Struggling so much to come up with anything, Colour, Theme, Everything i like OH doesnt,

We are such a bright lively couple both with loud personalities and I kind of think our wedding should reflect that with a quirky theme,

and he wants pale pink, shabby chic and romance, very nice but just not feeling its quite us!

Hiya. Firstly, I think that you should be really pleased that your OH is every getting involved in decor and themes, I've seen so many brides on here complaining that they are getting nothing from their H2B's on this issue. I've also been fnding it difficult as I am getting more input on these things than I was expecting. I had assumed that he was going to be the sort to say "tell me where I've got to be, and at what time, and what I need to wear and you sort the rest", but no. Anyway, back to you - have you thought about a kind-of Alice in Wonderland theme? That way, it could have the pink and shabby chic romace that he wants (I'm thinking tea cups, roses, and hearts), but you can go a bit nuts with everything else?

You and your OH should definitely put aside time to sit together ( Maybe with a glass-er-bottle of wine) and look through wedding themes until you decide on one! There's so many options that neither one of you should have to settle for something that you aren't in love with, you should be able to incorporate both of your styles and personalities. Try Pinterest.com for wedding themes!

Fab reply! That's what I was thinking, bold but vintage-y. You can do some things delicate but others you can go loud and proud!

Or go movie glamour... As much or as little as you fancy...

Do you have any hobbies together? Or a favorite film? Or a place? you could start with that and hope a theme comes from there?

Going through wedding magazines might help to get some ideas. I was amazed when my other half picked up a wedding magazine and had a read, and just seeing some pictures made him much more interested and enthusiastic. Have you looked at rock and roll bride? There were some cool quirky ideas on there, and as others have said, pinterest!

Have you set up a mood board? I was torn between a couple of idea, the vintage/shabby chic, animal print and Tiffany's blue. Once I started adding things on pinterest I found I was adding more of one theme than either of the others. I then spotted one thing I couldn't possibly not have at my wedding, my pink VW campervan and that was the deciding factor. Much to my OH's relief, he was dreading the whole leopard print thing!

Lol, must say it is a first to see guys getting well into the decor. One thing I've seen which I'm keen for is having the wedding in a retro cinema? Me and OH are massive film buffs and a lot of our time together/dates are cinema/film related so it makes perfect sense for us. Don't know if you could quirk it up with something like an interesting venue?

Why do you even need to have a theme/colour?

We have just filled our day with the things we love.

We are decorating our venue to compliment what is already there including the choice/colour of flowers.

Our invites do not match to any other part of the wedding (its highly unlikely guests will actually bring their invites with them on the day anyway)

Our favours etc are just things we love.

    No matching suits ties etc

Why restrict yourself to one theme/colour when you can have lots!
