I'm the first in my group of friends but near the last for H2Bs !! Feel free to ask anyhting on this site as someone will always have an answer. Have you decided on a date etc yet ? It is very exciting but time goes so quick.

Thanks everyone! Well we went to get a puppy - been planning to for ages - on sat so we had this puppy in the car and chris was like lets stop off on the way but i was like no i just want to get him home etc etc. anyway so we had this puppy who was feeling a bit ick on my lap, stopped off for a car picnic in the peak district and im eating my sandwich and suddently this box appears - HUGE surprise! Didnt finish my sandwich and said yes! It was all very crazy and not your classic proposal but lovely. Chris said he was so worried he would lose the ring or i'd find it - i had no idea !

Not set a date i think we will wait about 2 years time to save up and we've just bought a house so time to settle in etc! Plus a good friend is getting married October 2010 so we cant crash her plans!

Chris is from belfast so lots of friends and family back there, im from hertfordshire but we live in manchester so where to have the wedding is the first problem! Maybe ireland as its beautiful over there lots of country houses and castles but then its awkward for people to travel but i guess they would for a wedding and its always cheap flights.

anyone else had this problem?

Congratulations, and best wishes for your big day.

I'd just like to say that you would find it much easier to plan your wedding locally to where you live, as you would have a lot of travelling to do to organise your wedding in Ireland, unless there is someone that you really trust to plan your wedding in Ireland for you.

Thanks everyone! I think we have a rough rough date in mind September 2011 - give us time to enjoy being engaged, sort things out and save up!! Thinking about it we will probably get married somewhere in the North West - ideas on venues welcome! x

I think the first thing my h2b and I did was decide what time of year to get married. It's not only summer these days, which is still a gorgeous time of year to get married, but pretty spring weddings, gorgeous autumn weddings and fab xmas weddings are also the norm now!!! We got married in December on the run up to xmas, stayed at home with family over xmas and looked forward to our honeymoon in early Jan. If you are planning a honeymoon is worth considering when is the best time of year weatherwise to go to your chosen or possible destination. We went to the caribbean so Jan was ideal.

Again, a massive congratulations! It's such an exciting time and you'll soon be very, very addicted to Hitched!!

Ah thanks everyone! The OH has been surprised at how quick im planning things as its like 2 years ish away but as i said alot of women have been planning this alot longer than 5 days lol!

Think we have a provisional venue but was blown away at how expensive EVERYTHING is - I swear they hear the word wedding and just thing ka-ching!

I think one of our biggest problems was selecting our photographer ... only because it can feel like a gamble as the dress you can see and try on, the venue you can visit and so on. With a photographer you can only go on previous albums and more importantly you don't know what they are like a person - VERY important as a rude/pushy photographer can almost ruin a weeding - sadly saw this at a freind's wedding.

We looked at 15 photographers and eventually we settled on Visionista Photography and there personal, relax and unobtrusive appraoch really added to the the day - plus we ended up with some fantastic images. Also in these cash strapped times they guarantee to provide a cheaper service than any other photographer! So it's all good.

Best of luck with your prep - it's scary and fun at the same time! Like a rollercoaster!

We had that problem about where to hold our wedding as we live in Staffordshire all of my family/friends live in worcestershire and OH family friends live all over the place including oz and china - so we decided on worcestershire as no matter where we had our wedding OH family would have to travel so thought make it easier for one side of our families!! Ireland would be fab tho!! My friend lives in Staffordshire but got married in Scotland and one of the main reasons was that she knew people who were coming were coming because they really wanted to as they were prepared to travel so far and spend at least one/two nights!!

It may be 2 years off your wedding but it will soon come around so get planning now! I have had clients book up to 3 years in advance for my photography service !

Not only that, but there are lots of people on here who you can get loads of advice and help from and make your planning even more enjoyable. I'm sure you will be on here chatting quite a bit ?

Anyway, once again congratulations and I hope you enjoy your time here on Hitched.
