(Just for fun) Apart from H2B not turning up, what would be the worst thing to happen on your big day?

I dont think we can have it ommitted as we dont have Banns in scotland so theres nothing to announce our marriage....... so guess we are stuck with it. At te last wedding we attended last may, one of the ushers was asked to cough at the moment to release the tension but I dont even find that funny....

no thats awful!! I'd be scared to ask the registrar to omit that line, think it may be tempting fate - I have an extremely nasty ex!!

    Ahhhh............{smiles, pleasantly in the knowledge that her OH was her first 'proper' boyfriend.}

As a guest at a wedding, I always get jittery at this point too!

It must be the worst thing EVER, if someone were to speak at this moment, even if it is just in jest!

My big one is something going wrong re: my parents being in the same room for the first time in early 10 years after a messy divorce.

This is another of mine, not my parents but h2b's. They haven't seen each other for 15 years. I don't think they'd make a scene at all but I worry about them feeling uncomfortable in each others company on what should be a day when they are happy and relaxed.

Me too. I don't think there is much I can do to make this better. I am actually more worried about my sister as she is close to both and wouldn't want to be seen to take 'sides' so will probably feel uncomfortable too. I guess I'll be a bit sheltered from it being in a bridal blur.

Yeah, I also feel sorry for BIL2b as he gets on well with his dad but may feel guilty when he is spending time with each parent.

This is a good thread for getting paranoia out of the way:

    • Someone being sick in the middle of the dancefloor
    • There being a major accident on the motorway so half the guests can't make it
    • Overhearing someone slagging off the day (even very slightly) and feeling offended
    • No one dances
    • We run out of alcohol (we're supplying our own)
    • I get a cold sore
    • One of us feels ill

Ooooooooooh, we went to a wedding recently and only myself, OH and his brother actually danced! Oh and some fruit-loop-mutton-dressed-as-lamb, who kept checking out OH!

I felt terrible that no-one was dancing!

To make it worse, when the "happy couple", were having their first dance most people (not me!!!!) were outside waiting for the BBQ to start! But then the DJ or best man didn't announce it.
