I've never been there, but I have been to the Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, which is about the same price as Sensatori. Le Blanc was AMAZING! The staff are so lovely, the food was super tasty, and you get resort credits to use in the spa, or on trips etc.

Unless you have a particular desire for Riviera Maya, check out that hotel in Cancun, and see what you think. It was voted one of the best all inclusives in the world last year, and really was delightful.

Hi bex_boo - interested to hear about Le Blanc, we are just looking into our honeymoon in Mexico and are undecided between several hotels including Le Blanc, Moon Palace, Grand Velas, Secrets Maroma and a few others. What made you choose that hotel over any other in the Cancun/Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen area?

We saw Le Blanc on Trip Advisor had won their Travel Awards and seemed to get amazing reviews, so did a little research and a few scanning of various websites, and managed to get it on Lowcostholidays for about £1300 each in October. We also used Quidco for a little extra back. Sometimes Low Cost Holidays have voucher codes too on various websites if you have a little look. I know sometimes Virgin will do price match, but I'm not sure they would on Low Cost Holidays prices as they are only internet operated, and Virgin I think (only think don't know for sure) price match on people who are based on the high street rather than web only.

The hotel itself is really lovely and modern, and very clean. The staff are so friendly and chatty and very sweet. They seem genuinely happy to work there, and we got the impression the hotel management look after the staff pretty well. They were all very lovely indeed. We took US Dollars to tip them, you don't need to tip much, but anything is very much appreciated. I speak a little Spanish and they were really encouraging of it, and helped me with it a lot in a nice way.

The rooms have HUGE baths that are jacuzzi style and lovely. The floor butler will run one for you before you get in if you want, and put special oils and bath salts in, and make it all lovely and cosy. If you download their app on the iPad or iPhone you can see their menus, and bath options, and spa options. You can even have a romantic beach dinner! It really is a lovely hotel. You feel totally relaxed and indulged. When we were there (before we got engaged) I actually said to the boyf that it would be a lovely place to have your honeymoon. Also it's adults only! Sorry to anyone who has children, but when I've paid that much for a holiday I don't want kids in the pool - and they're not. Bliss!

You can also do wine tasting, and tequila tasting there. Loads of lovely things. Or you can do what I did - and mostly be a slug by the pool drinking cocktails. Smiley smile

The hotel is also part of a turtle conservation scheme and they care for turtle eggs on the beach. When the eggs hatch you can go and help them be released into the sea if you're there at the right time. We didn't get to do this, as there were no hatchlings, but it's all done very nicely and is a really sweet thing to be part of if you're there at the right time.

The only downside is the evening entertainment at the hotel - there isn't much. But the beach is lovely, the food is delicious and varied and the cocktails are yummy too. You can amuse yourself. And it's not far from town so you can go in there for an evening. The only thing I would say about going into town is that it seemed quite pricey at the clubs, a bit like going to Ibiza, but you might not want to do that on your honeymoon. As i said, you can amuse yourselves I'm sure. Smiley smile

Thank you, this is really helpful! I particularly like the idea of the turtle conservation scheme and the butler! Sounds amazing! Roll on November!

Heard great things about Sensatori... Wouldn't go by Trip Advisor tbh... I work on basis hardly anyone writes a good review, but people are quick to write a bad one...

We're booking 3 weeks at Moon Palace Golf resort. Been twice before and absolutely love it, so it seemed fitting to go again for honeymoon. Just a shame we have to wait till next May, 10 months after wedding because of money etc. well worth the wait though x

Might be worth having a look on Travelzoo - there is a deal for 10 night all inclusive 5 star hotel in Cancun for £1499 in their top 20 today - flights with Virgin. I think it's selected dates from May to November, and you have to book by the end of March, but might be handy for some of you.
