...with the bridesmaids that is!

I know its quite normal practice for bridesmaids to pay for their own dress these days, but my goodness I felt awkward!! We have offered to pay for their hotel the night before, shoes and accessories etc but still I'm glad that is out the way!!

Yeah, I'm leaning towards we'll pay for the dress but they supply their own shoes (because I don't give two hoots about shoes, not a shoe person!) but not sure how I'll broach this subject just yet. I'd rather spend £100 on a dress each than get a £50 dress and £50 shoes.... maybe that's just me?

Hadn't even thought about accommodation tbh! Crud!

2 / 3 responses were fine, as I expected, waiting on the third which I also expect will be fine... I do have 2 young bridesmaids, not sure how my daughter would react to "hey by the way this is coming out of your pocket money" ? So I think I'll buy hers hehe!

Provided there's no weddings the day before at Moxhull we can have the 2 bed cottage which is a bargain at £165! Otherwise it will be the Belfry which is going to cost a bit more! Plus then need a car... fingers crossed for the cottage being available!

I waited to have this discussion and so glad I did! I managed to find the perfect dresses ultra cheap, so it meant I could then buy them shoes and accessories too Smiley smile

I'm yet to have this conversation with my BMs... Added difficulty is that even though all six are adults, two definitely aren't in a position to pay for their dresses. How to treat them all fairly?!

On a slight tangent, but what are you thinking of buying your BMs for thank you gifts?

It is difficult for sure. 3rd bridesmaid just agreed that it was perfectly ok PHEW!!!

Bridesmaids gifts..... wowsers, haven't even thought about it! Probably something they can keep Smiley smile I think they all have Pandora bracelets, so likely a charm of some kind

I find this a difficult one. I have 2 bridesmaids and I wouldn't expect them to buy their own dresses/shoes/accessories etc as it is my wedding. But saying that, If I was a bridesmaid, I wouldn't expect the bride to buy my dress :/

I have paid for both bridesmaids hotel the night before, hair, make up on the day and will also buy the dresses and accessories.

I'm having 3 bridesmaids - 2 of them I would say couldn't possibly buy their dresses for financial reasons however the other one could but then if I bought 2 and not the other it's not fair so I'm really going to shop around and try and buy all 3 dresses as for shoes and jewellery etc they can wear what they like.

It went without saying they would buy their own. But I found amazing amazing ones for £40 each so I've said I want to pay. They are getting their own shoes and accessories as long dresses and I want them to all make it their own. They were so grateful and I'm v lucky I found them so cheap! x

I was planning on buying mine to begin with, but the high street failed us (they are both unusual shapes and sizes!) and they found a dress in a bridal shop that they both liked, so we went with that, and I'm paying half, they're paying half. We got them good deals on the accommodation and they ebayed the perfect shoes!

I paid for my BM's dresses which were £185 each. I am also paying for their professional hair and makeup on the day and have bought them gifts.

I felt awful asking them to pay for their own hair/make up trials, shoes, nails etc but the way they saw it was they would have needed to buy a new outfit anyway so haven't spent/saved any more than what they would have IYSWIM?
