Just Married - a few hints from our day!

jess290280, 20 March, 2012 at 08:58 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hiya,

we got married on 3rd March 2012 at 3pm in Liverpool. Here are a few things that we would recommend to others:

1 Get married at 1pm, time ran away with itself on our day so we would recommend slightly earlier.

2 DO NOT let others influence you and that way your day is what YOU want.

3 Do not scrimp on your photographer and ensure they will capture your da how you want, NOT how they want to!

4 Book your photographer to stay for a decent amount of the evening.

We had no bridesmaids, no seating plans, no speeches, no first dance (we're useless dancers) and we had a carvery for our meal rather than a served meal so that people could choose what they wanted on their plate and how much!

We had no stress leading up to the day and on the day everyone commented on how relaxed we both were and that all we did was laugh and smile.

Our suppliers were:

Photographer - Ant Clausen - AMAZING and worth every penny! https://www.antclausen.com/

Flowers - Wedding Flowers by Joanne Wildman. I wanted rustic designs that I gave her and she created them perfectly for me. https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Wedding-Flowers-By-Joanne/118141088271733

Service - St Bartholomews Church, Roby. A gorgeous church with a down to earth, modern vicar.

Venue - Maritime Dining Rooms, Maritime Museum, Albert Dock. Amazing views, amazing food and fabulous people. https://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/merseyside-maritime-museum

Dress, veil and tiara - Society Brides - http://www.society-brides.co.uk/

Brides Shoes - Christian Louboutin - Yes I know that I'm spoilt!

Grooms Suit & shirt - Gieves and Hawkes. Amazing service and a made to neasure suit that can be worn time and time again - https://www.gievesandhawkes.com/shop

Grooms shoes - Barkers from Pavers

Bestman suit & shirt - Debenhams - https://www.debenhams.com/

Hair - Thatchairs, Liverpool - https://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100001128453684

Spa treatments - Renaissance, St Helens - http://renaissanceskincarebeauty.co.uk/

Cake - Cakes by Liz Woodruff - https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Cakes-by-Liz-Woodruff/142643675764979

Favours - charity donations to Myeloma UK in memory of my dad - https://www.myeloma.org.uk/

Cars - Balmoral Wedding Cars - http://www.balmorallimousines.co.uk/www.balmorallimousines.co.uk/info.php?p=2

Honeymoon - Anna at Virgin Holidays in Warrington - so helpful and dead all the research for us, amazing service and an amzing honeymoon (safari in Kenya).

Rings - Stephen Jones in Liverpool City Centre.

Invitations - Zazzle, low cost and excellent quality - https://www.zazzle.co.uk/

Thank you cards - Vista Print using a photo from Ant Clausen - http://www.vistaprint.co.uk

We made our own table centres, card box and sweet displays with items purchased from Country Baskets, Inspirations Wholesale, Makro and Ebay. My mum bought some white umbrellas from ebay (very handy for a British wedding!).

Mother of the bride got her outfit from Vivienne Westwood and shoes and bag from Marta Jonsson.

Mother of the groom got her outfit from Kay Nelson and shoes and bag from LK Bennet.

Father of the groom got his suit from Gieves and Hawkes, short from M&S and shoes from Loake at Pavers.

Good luck to all couples getting married and enjoy the experience Smiley smile

Jess x

Safari in Kenya...AMAZING you will LOVE this! We did it in Sep and the scenery and wildlife was just unbelieveable.

Good tip about earlier! We just set our time for 2pm but may rethink.

Lots of people get married later than this and don't have any issues. Having said that, if you are a winter bride then I think it is sensible to consider an earlier wedding in view of the early dark evenings. It might be difficult to fit in all the photos otherwise.

I think I might have to speak to her, although she might be a bit far (we're in Rossendale). When I win the lottery we're going to have fresh flowers delivered every week ?

I'd message her on Facebook and see what she says. She lives in Skem (I think) and is self employed so she may say OK. Tell her that you saw mine (Jess Bruss) so she has an idea of the style that you're interested in. I'd love fresh flowers every week too but the ones I like tend to be expensive ?

I think I'll speak to the local florist and see how they are but if I don't like their work I'll send her a message. I'd much rather use someone local for a number of reasons but they need to be good!

Do allow artistic licence though and appreciate that an experienced photographer with 100s or 1000s of weddings under their belt will often be able to deliver more than you realise is possible. (as your avatar nicely shows)

Truly glad you had a fantastic day.....?
