JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY - WHAT DO YOU THINK? - Inner Bridezilla - Fess up!!!

slou90, 3 April, 2013 at 11:01 Posted on Planning 0 48

So I just wanted to see - out of curiosity - what are your top 3 materialistic things for your day ! In order!

Forget the rings and the vows and the love ... I want to know what your inner bridezilla thinks is important Smiley winking

For me:

1: VENUE - I wanted something beautiful , individual and different

2: DRESS - I wanted to feel like a princess - lucky for me my mum bought my £1500 dress and my god it is beautiful

3:CENTRE PIECES - i can't imagine my tables without them Smiley smile

Now you go Smiley smile x

    Hmmm...this is an interesting one.

I would have to go with the venue - mainly as we needed one which could hold lots of people, but we also wanted the right atmosphere also.

Food - This again makes the atmosphere I think

Quirky little things - I love going to weddings and seeing all the little things and touches that really make it, and me and OH are really hoping to create this so it reflects us!

Good idea for a thread Smiley smile

    1. Dress

    2. Dress.

    3. Dress.

(The venue was uber-important, but a necessity. I'm not sure I think it materialistic to want to spend a lot of money on a venue. Whereas wanting to spend a lot of money on a dress is!)

I agree! I nearly put this as my number one - although I couldn't have got this dress without it suiting my venue! If that makes any sense!!! x

1: PHOTOGRAPHER - Memories fade but photographs last forever the H2B didn't actually get a say in our photographer i had already set my heart on ours.

2: DRESS - i wouldn't rest until i found the perfect one... Lucky for the MIL2B i found it quickly so she didn't have to trawl trough hundreds of dresses with me.

3: HARPIST - I wanted one and went all bridezilla on my poor H2B when he said about not having it.

Dress, need to look like a princess....Kate Middleton eat your heart out lol

    Tables centre pieces

    Venue - in that order

I have 237 people at my wedding and nowhere pretty enough could host that amount of people. So had to use the Univeristy of Nottingham Conference Centre...Its on beautiful grounds though, lake and gardens!

Jewellery. I LOVE my jewellery, so that was important. Had to get my Hello Kitty fix into my wedding.

My boys outfits. Was more bothered about what they would wear, than myself. Spent longer searching for their outfits, than my dress.

My shoes. I love funky shoes, and had a tea length dress, to show my shoes off.

    Erm,

    1. Shoes.

    2. Zelda Heart necklace

    3. ..... erm, the cake?

jeez thats harder than i thought. I'm a hoarder by nature i thought it'd be easier. My dress though pretty is more of a necessity in my eyes. i could go out and buy another and feels just as good. i would be more p***ed at losing the money on it.

For me it has to be

    1. Venue, I really wanted something exclusive to us and somewhere we could stay for the weekend, thankfully Boy wanted this too

    2. Photographer, I was incredibly fussy when it came to a photographer and spent just short of 3x the price of my dress on it

    3. Flowers, not got them yet but have got the most amazing florist and I spend ages searching through her blog at her beautiful work

Venue - we had so many compliments on our venue

Dress - no need for explanation!

Food and drink - again, lots of compliments on the food (quantity and quality) and free-flowing booze

We actually didn't want a reception at all and only had one becasue we thought it would be a bit odd if we didn't - and people had kindly travelled to join us so we thought they could do with food and drink.

    Good thread!

    1. Chairs - I don't like chair covers and our venue chairs are grim so we hired them instead.

    2. Veil - I was determined not to have a really expensive one and am no probably having one that's costing me £300!

    3. Dress - I went a bit over budget on my dress but meh!

Nice try, but none of those are "materialistic" things. How many hours did you spend on your dress again? Smiley winking

    Oh bum. Aren't they?

My dress was uber-cheap though and my time is free (to me) so that can't possibly count. Also, i wasn't that fond of it - it did the job but i wasn't in LURRRRVE with it!

    3. OH's suit- we've not purchased yet, but the budget i've set aside for this is more than my dress. It's important to me that he looks and feels great, so the budget is there just in case he needs to spend a little more.

So far that is. I imagine myself getting materialistic about all kinds of ridiculous things as it gets closer,

Invitations - I think they set the tone of your day and we spent a lot having them made.

Flowers - We spent a lot of money on flowers but I think they were worth it - I cried when i saw them. It was the only time i cried the whole day.

Venue - We wanted the venue regardless of cost. It wasnt extortionate but it wasnt a bargain either. We wanted to get married there from the first day we found out you could!

    I would say...

1.Dress - I was ALOT fussier than I thought I would be when it came to finding the right dress!

2.Photographer - my friend told me she regrets her photographer and I think that such a sad thing so it made me more determined to find the perfect one. Luckily OH agreed that its one of the most important parts as it helps you relive the memories

3.Venue - again, I was super fussy when it came to finding the right venue.

I could probably add more to the list...maybe Im a bit of a bridezilla ? haha

    1. VENUE - The one we've chosen doesn't actually cost that much considering but it was really important to get it right.

    2. FOOD & DRINKS

    3. PHOTOGRAPHER

My dress was really important but I've got one second hand that I'm adding a few of my own touches to so it's not actually that expensive after all.

Not really sure how you can have a top three materialistic things, but the top three generally were:

    1. Venue

    2. Food

    3. Dress

If you're talking about materialistic as in vanity and/or decoration type things:

    1. Dress

    2. Shoes

    3. Bridesmaid dresses

    3. I did want a horse and carriage but wasn't allowed one so I suppose I can't put that. I did end up spending quite a lot of money on my cake topper because I love it, so I will go with this.

    1. Photographer - this is really important to me after being disappointed with our wedding photography (was very cheap!)

    2. Shoes- I love shoes :-)

    3. Venue- I have been so fussy choosing a venue and just the smallest thing has put me off (cant have a red carpet as will clash with my theme) , want somewhere beautiful!
