Keep Changing My Mind!

MrsFitt2B, 22 May, 2014 at 19:52 Posted on Planning 0 12

Exactly how many times is it acceptable to change your mind about colours?! I'm on to my third decision and I'm driving myself mad!

My first colour scheme, (peacock colours,) was just insane! My second of aqua and coral was more considered. My venue is entirely made of red brick - so although my predominant colour was going to be coral, I couldn't see the bridesmaid dresses being coral. So I thought, that's fine, I'll dress them in aqua and have everything else coral. Now I'm not sure about the aqua at all and still LOVE the coral! I've moved on to mint green, but I just don't love it for bridesmaid dresses.

Like I said, I'm driving myself potty, let alone my bridesmaids. Who, I have to say, have been incredibly patient with me!

Anyone else gone through this?!

I've not had any worries with colours yet but I just thought to suggest something. If you're struggling with the colours, maybe look at bridesmaid dresses and flowers and see what takes your fancy? Maybe pick those that look nice together and then base the colours round that? Good luck with deciding x

I agree with this. If you have a theme then some colours or types of colours might be more relevant but chose your BM dresses, flowers you like and go from there. A colour scheme is often organic and grows with your wedding. I've always wanted a vintage/shabby chic/pearls theme and have gone through shades of vintage pinks, ivory, cream, with some pewter accents. I was lookimng at eau de nil too but my daughter baught the BM dresses yesterday and they're a nice pale/dusky pink so that will influence the rest of the cololurs more now. x

It's so easy to change your mind about colours, there are just too many options! I knew which colours I didn't want and then I was originally set on a mocha type colour. But I've ended up with pale blue with hints of pastels! I don't know if others would agree, but I wanted to make sure the colours suited my bridesmaids and the mocha type colour I liked just didn't suit the one girl.

These are all really good points - thanks ladies. I think I'll see what suits my bridesmaids and go from there. Thankfully thy both have similar colouring, so hopefully the same colours will suit them both.

I'm exactly the same! Haven't started buying things yet, but OH doesn't believe I'll stop changing my mind by the time we do start buying things! I'm loving coral too! (at the minute!) But have also considered red, spring green, blush, and still can't decide!

    I feel your pain.

Colour coordinated invitations sent out, bridesmaid dresses ordered and so on and so forth and what happens? I suddenly think I should've gone for blue. Or maybe dusky pink.

I still love my colours (burnt orange and ivory), but I have now developed them by adding hints of pink. In a subtle way.

I feel your pain as I'm going through this myself. Since we started planning our big day I've had my mind set on gold and dusty rose. But today I found myself looking at ivory wedding dresses! (The dress I have my heart set on his gold) I can be extremely indecisive at times. I just had to sit back, look through my pintrest board and take a deep breath..........and back to good and dusty rose :0)

I'm so glad it's not just me! I think once I've sorted the bridesmaid's dresses I'll calm down a bit!

My OH and I were having a similar issue with colours last night. I've been thinking about colours for a while now and after driving myself mad I asked him to look with me. We want gypsophila, ferns and carnations in our flowers so I am thinking base colours of white and spring green, we like natural colour flowers so pinks for carnations but I just couldn't imagine my fair skinned blonde BMs in pink... so last night we chose this for the BMs, colour only not sure on style...

and will have pale pinks in other details including the flowers.

It's surprising how many colours we don't like or agree on! OH likes reddish pink, I said no, I like mint green, OH said no etc...!

So my advice is start with the BM dresses to get your colours, ask BMs and OH for their opinions too as I didn't know what they liked/didn't like until I asked!

    I am!

At first I wanted a pale gold colour - but getting married in February and not sure if its too insipid for pale winter skin - but now can't decide what else to have.

Then I changed tact and waited and looked around all dresses hoping something would pop out which I loved and could build a scheme around that. But again havent found anything I like. Now my wedding is only 8 months away and I have no colour scheme, no invites, flowers etc sorted and Im starting to panic.

Paul & Dawn - thank you for your suggestions and your dress looks lovely. My bridesmaids are trying desperately to help me and my OH keeps telling me to pick whatever makes me happy! Bless him! But not helpful!

Rachey - your last 8 months are going to fly by! I'd be a wreck by now if I still had all that to decide! I still have over a year to go and I want evrything sorted yesterday! But that's just me!

I really wanted coral for the BMs, but because my entire venue is made of red brick, it would just clash too much. I saw a Mint green dress yesterday, so currently we're still on track for mint green!

I think mint green is a lovely choice, although I really like this colour...

    or this...

I wouldn't worry about the colour of the venue and clashing etc... I initially thought about that but as our venue has a red wall in both the ceremony and reception room I couldn't think of how to work with that so I'm just having what I want instead!
