Keep ticking off that list!

goldpants, 4 January, 2013 at 16:00 Posted on Planning 0 17

We've been wedding planning since May and now 8 months later it feels like we're slowly getting things done! We're nit getting married until May 2014 but I can now see how quickly that will come around - it's now only next year! (so much easier to say!)

We've booked the venue, the registrar, the photographer, hair and make up artist, made the save the dates (not sending them out until the summer) and now today we've booked our evening entertainment, an accoustic guitarist who Dj's as well.

We found him months ago but really wanted to think about what we wanted ... six months later we still want him so booked today... and when I received the quote I was surprised he was far cheaper than I was expecting Smiley smile weheee!

Off to an open day at our venue on sunday to meet the caterers and have some tasting sessions so that is the next big decision to make..

Then in a couple of months I will begin the dress shopping Smiley smile and I'm thinking wedding rings should be sorted sooner rather than later. And have been drawing up some hen do plans as in may I need to book the time off - Valencia city centre villa for 10 people for 3 nights Smiley smile And in May we can also start looking at booking our honeymonn too!

Really am quite enjoying this so far and loving all the time I have, but also really excited that things are also moving quickly and the months are passing so fast.

Any other spring 2014 b2bs surprised by how quick the time is passing?? Suddenly I don't feel so ridiculously organised and it seems reasonable that I'm now planning a wedding for next May.

Can you think of any other things I can get out of the way sooner rather than later?

Thanks all x

    Hi Carly,

I contacted the registrars when booking the venue and our date has been provisionally booked in writing, just have to give notice later.

Our office is Chelmsford in Essex and I know a lot of them are different but if you haven't already it can't hurt to try! Smiley winking

What is your wedding date in May and where are you getting married? xxx

Hi! We're also May next year (4th), it's so exciting! Smiley smile

So far we've sorted venue, caterer, registrar, photographer, videographer, band and entertainment, started buying/making decorations/table stuff etc, and bought my wedding ring yesterday! (OH couldn't decide!) going bridesmaid dress shopping in a few days and might look into suits soon. There's still loads to do but got lots of time so it's nice to be able to spread it out and hopefully not have to stress too much! Smiley smile

good luck with all your planning!

We are 24th may Smiley smile we are getting married at The Grange in winterbourne near Bristol! So excited.

Cant wait to start bridesmaid dress shopping! I thought I knew what colour I liked but now am panicking that on a dress it will be too much or won't suit the girls and then am worrying that the colour will change... But I'm just rambling now!!

will have to look into contacting the registrars so thanks for that as I would have left it until May!

    Xx

    Hi!

I'm March 2014. When I did the whole 'I can't believe we've been married for 6 months' thing a couple of weeks ago I freaked out, it has gone by so quickly. I now have a mini wory about paying for it all. It's so expensive and we are just buying things every now and then as well as saving to spread the cost. I'm glad I can say that I'm getting married next year now as I also felt a bit silly saying not next year, the year after and then people looked at me funny when I said I had my venue booked already.

We have our venue, my dress (got it in a sale & fell in love), BM dresses (not sale but knew they'd be perfet for my bm's), tog (OH's friends who are professional togs), save the dates (Vistaprint special offer - although these won't be sent out for a few months). So basically the things I have booked have been special offers or fell in love with dresses!

We've also enquired about a DJ who did my sisters wedding and am awaiting a quotation. That's it. I'm cooling it down on the planning, just gathering ideas now and then will book and pay for registrar in March as we cannot do it any sooner than a year before.

I think you have the big important things done to be honest. It's good that you've been organised though, means you can enjoy the planning like I am! :-)

Are you having a blue colour scheme?

I've got teal bridesmaid dresses but wasn't originally planning on having blue until I saw these in a shop and fell in love with them for my bm's.

Not sure whether we'll incorporate this colour elsewhere, haven't decided yet.

They are lovely! Our scheme is pale green and I love this dress - my maid of honour has lost a lot of weight recently so putting off the dress shopping so we get the right size nearer the time but this is the dress I'm in love with!

    Another blue! Yay!

I LOVE that dress! Such a beautiful style. I also would have probably had green if I could have chosen but I just loved this dress as soon as I saw it and had to get my bm's it! Green's my fave colour. To be fair, my house is equally decorates in green and teal so it was bound to be one or the other. haha.

I think I could look at dresses all day long!

I got my bm dresses from monsoon. I've only got 2 bm's but I found it hard getting the sizes in the end as they sold out in shops & had to use their postal service where they find where they are in the uk and send them to you! There are a few around on sale but limited sizes. I'm just glad I took the plunge and got them.
