Keeping toddlers entertained

JessNav, 15 March, 2018 at 13:47 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi all,

I'm getting married in May and have a few children coming, the oldest I have activities for but the 3 youngest I'm struggling. They'll be between the ages of 16 months and 2 years. Are they going to be too young for colouring? I am going to put a bottle of fruit shoot on the table, a bag of sweets, a windmill with their name on it and they've all got a helium balloon, am I going to need anything else? I just don't want them getting bored during the speeches, I don't care if they make a noise, I just want them to enjoy themselves.

Thank you!

    Hi there!

I have had the same problem. Each child is different but I know that 2 years old+ are fine with colouring.

I am not sure about the 16 months though.

We also have a bowl of large lego pieces (not the small ones) that we will be putting on a table for the kids to play with.

    Best of luck!

We’re doing sticker books as our venue doesn’t allow crayons, pencils etc

It's a sweet idea, but I don't think you need to worry about it really. You could leave all kinds of things for them to do and they might keep them busy for 5 seconds or 5 hours, it's impossible to tell! Between 16 months and 2 years the parents will be quite used to entertaining their children and will likely bring some bits and bobs to entertain them. If you really want to go the extra mile, ask the parents of the children concerned if there is anything they'd like you to provide, but I bet they'll not need anything.

    Good luck!

    Bubbles!

Been to quite a few weddings with young children and bubbles always work!

Keep specifically for the speeches. there may be some giggles but seemed to have worked every time.

    good luck!
