Kids goody bags

parma violets, 26 July, 2014 at 20:00 Posted on Planning 0 7

I am trying to make up goody bags for my wedding. The little ones have not been too bad but I am stuck on the bags for the 10-13year old boys. It is not helped by the fact that I am not allowed any crayons or pens at all. Does any one have any ideas or suggestions? So far they have a mini-finger skateboard set and loom bands. Thanks x

Can you have colouring pencils? If yes then puzzles for them to do.

Disposable cameras with a list if specific things to take photos of.

No colouring pens, pencils or crayons. Thanks for reminding me about the camera idea. Just need to sort the list out. X

I've only done boxes for the 4 under 10 year olds that I have! Should I be making one for the 3 kids I have 10-14 years old. Damn...I'll ask their parents lol

The only children will be my nephews and niece who range in age from 6 months to 13 years. A bit tricky to find a cut off point to stop so easier to do all of them. X

You could allow them to bring their electronic gizmo. Normally we ban them at family gatherings, but perhaps allowing them to use them at set times, on silent or with earplugs. I think it's a difficult age. Loom bands are a good idea, but depending on your date, they might not be flavour of the month then. I know at a family party last weekend the kids all brought theirs and they kept them happy for hours.

I know this might be odd, but I'm looking at play dough for our youngsters, aged 2-5, and that made me think, how about a modelling kit of some sort. I know our older ones love playing with that kind of stuff. Almost allows them to be little kids again. You could give them plasticine and ask them to make a model with a prize for the best or something similar.

What about a pack of playing cards? You could put a booklet it with instructions for some simple games, that way they can play together or on their own. You can get some cool designs OH has a pirate lego pack! X

You can get little packs of lego that are to be built into something particular, I remember such things from a happy meal as a kid, so maybe you can find them cheaply on ebay?

Other than that, their psp, Nintendo ds or even their parents phone will probably be in high demand, as kids prefer gaming nowadays anyhow.

Or, at that age, they can run around outside with a ball, if the weather is nice :-)

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have a look at cards... Maybe grab some uno or top. Trumps. I gave got some garden games from them also. I will hunt down some lego or machino kits. I think electronics is a no for our family. Thanks x
