Kids Input

Sparklebright, 25 September, 2012 at 21:41 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hiya

My partner has 2 kids and I want them to feel like they've made their mark on our wedding. I wanted them to do something crafty like making signs or something but I'm running a bit short on ideas.

we already have our table names etc done and jars painted!

Any suggestions would be very welcome

What about helping to make the favours? Are you having a photo booth, they could make the props? Maybe have a sweetie table and let them pick the sweets, jars, etc?

They are 6 and 7, both boys,

Favours are done, no we aren't having a sweetie table or photo booth.

In the wedding they are being ring bearers wearing matching suits to their daddy (they are going to look major cute!) i've also done a massive photo board with pics of our days out as a family which is super cute

We've asked our nieces (5&7) to draw a picture for the front of the invite & order of service...it remains to be seen whether it's a good idea or not!!! But kids love decorations and things - could they make bunting or anything or do pictures to decorate the venue?

What about confetti cones ? are you having them ? they could help fill them .....might end up with more on the floor than the cones though so buy extra ...then they can hand them out to guests on the day.

Make the cones yourself and let them design them ???

We've got four children, 3 boys (10, 7 and 7) and a daughter (5). The 10 year old is acting as best man, one 7 year old is giving me away (think my Dad is mighty put out about this but tough) and the other 7 year old is being the ring bearer (and chief dancer apparently lol) and our daughter is a flower girl.

We're going with the confetti cone idea as well.

I let my daughter pick the flower girl dress so in effect she has picked the whole colour scheme.

We had a couple who had there kids draw a picture of a bride and groom and we scanned and used this as an illustration on invitations which went as follows:

    Lola and Sophie Maxwell
request the pleasure of your company
to witness the marriage of their Mummy and Daddy
Sarah Jane Lynch and John James Maxwell
    at a ceremony....(etc)

I thought it was a really lovely and wonderful idea to have the children invite everyone, and to include them in such a big way. It would work very well to make step parents feel special as well.

Could you give them some special jobs on the day such as collecting music requests or announcing the first song? Or announcing cake being cut etc? Or maybe ask them to give a speech? xx
