Kinda O/T - Dilemma ... Wedding Fayre (edited)

Snow Patroller, 4 February, 2009 at 12:09 Posted on Planning 0 7

I don't know what to do ladies ... I have got a stand provisionally held for me for the wedding show at the Corn Exchange - but my usual 'helpers' aren't available and I don't know whether to

A) risk doing it on my own or
B) not do it at all ....

having been so busy @ Braehead Arena I can't imagine not having a second pair of hands to help out customer wise ... and to have no 'support' for 2 days is also quite daunting (who wil get me cups of tea and cover when I want to have a pee!!!) ?

What do I DO?!!! I have to decide by 5pm otherwise they release the stand. (I've also got a great £££ deal on a bigger stand, which makes it even more appealing!)

**************************************************************************

Got the chance to exhibit again, this time at Corn Exchange (edinburgh) at the end of March... anyone got any feedback (good or bad!) on previous shows?

Any Hibs exhibited at this one?

Brides - have you been to this show?

Thanks in advance!

I've been, went with my bridesmaid last Oct! The fashion show was good, tasted some nice cakes...a nice touch was the free champagne and canapes, and the lovely table decorations. I didn't actually book any suppliers as a result of going to it, but it was good fun! The only bad feedback I would have was that parking was limited and we had to park at the nearby supermarket. But thats it really.

Go for it! I did one on my own for the first time this weekend, and it was more succesful than any other I have done. If people really want to chat to you they will wait, just make sure you've got plenty of info to hand that they can take away if they're not able to stop and talk to you. It wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be, and I was much more focussed on chatting to customers than usual. I'm sure someone on an adjacent stand will bring you the odd cuppa!

    Hi SP

If you have the £££ then go for it. It is great advertising. Don't feel pressured into it though by them saying they need an answer back to them by a certain time. I keep getting calls from weddings venues inviting me along (and i'm not even live yet) but then wanting stupid money especially the NEC (not really an invite then!). I don't think i would be paying their prices for a couple of years yet ?

    Hi Ya

Sorry I didn't manage to get back to you before you left for Glasgow. No worries though.

How did the Braehead one go for you?

Thanks all ... I didn't go back to the organisers today so there is a chance I've lost the stand anyhow, but I just felt I was being pushed to make a decision ... I'll call on Monday and see what the score is ....

Spring - yes, it is really good advertising, and you see potentially instant results, where as super expensive glossy mag ads are a bit like a waiting game ....

    BabyW - braehead was brilliant!

I'll come and work it for you, I'm doing the Ingliston one this weekend with my work and I've been working at them in belfast for years. I live in edinburgh and wouldnt mind it one bit.

I love wedding shows (for some reason!) and i'd more than happily come along to keep you company and work the stand.

    (not an internet weirdy!)
