Kinda O/T - how do I get rid of my dark eye circles for the big day?

SaSaSi, 15 April, 2011 at 14:01 Posted on Planning 0 30

As above ladies...

Ive been using the garnier roll on since before christmas every night before bed but I have big dark circles under my eyes still ☹️

I know Im prob not resting enough & gettin enough sleep but seriously who does when you work, have a house & are planning a wedding?!

I drink at least 2 litres of a water a day & eat loads of fruit & veg so I dont believe they are diet related....

I know my make up lady will be able to cover them but I'd rather there was none / less to cover to begin with!

So ladies, recommend me your lotions & potions...Ive got 11 weeks from tomorrow to get them sorted!

Not a great help but i have never found anything that helps my dark circles except plenty of sleep and of course clever make up, so i would just let your make up lady work her magic cos I dont know about you but there are not enough hours in the day for enough sleep for me!!

Lots of sleep, water and fresh air! Creams containing vitamin K are supposed to help dark circles.

Don't worry, your make up lady will sort them on the big day!!

There was a product called Eye Con that benefit did which has sadly been discontinued. It has been replaced with this:

    http://www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk/gp/product/B004P2D5TM/sr=1-1/qid=1302873180/ref=sr_1_1/275-6717625-0453005?ie=UTF8&n=48506031&bcBrand=core

If it's even half as good as Eye Con, it's well worth it even though it's a bit pricey. I'm buying some on Saturday myself....

I've had dark circles for years and I sleep loads, eat well and drink plenty of water. I think it must just be the way my skin is, just as others are prone to spots or redness etc. I've never found anything that will actually get rid of them, although I do like to use an eye cream to keep the area soft (I have generally dry skin).

Makeup is all that I can do to cover them. At the moment I'm using a MAC concealer stick which I'd highly recommend.

I'd get yourself on to some of the cosmetic counters and ask for samples. As for YSL Touche Eclat I would steer clear of it on the wedding day as it's too reflective and will make you look odd in photos.

You sound like you're doing the right things diet wise and like others have said, make sure you get lots of sleep & try to apply an eye cream morning & night. I don't think the Garnier roll ons to much IMHO. I think you may need something more concentrated.

ETA: The Origins eye creams are really good and they usually have samples.

I am afraid to say that sleep has little to do with it (from what it sounds like in your case).

I have the same problem, I drink loads of water and eat fruit and veg (I am a veggie), most nights I get enough sleep, yet I always have dark circles. It's because some of us have very thin skin underneath the eyes- I think what is showing up is blood vessels or something. If you don't get enough sleep, it will make it worse but, if you are like me, you will always have this problem.

The YLS stuff is good (until it wears off) but expensive. Boots No7 o a version that is much cheaper (£15) and is excatly the same. It's in a stick and is called something like, "light reflecting concealer". If you can get one of those £5 off vouchers, so much the better. I use this every day!

Hi Sasa, I have the same worry, although like a few of the others have pointed out I dont think it has a lot to do with your sleep/diet/water intake, I would say it helps but it wont diminish them completely, I think it may have something to do with your skins elasticity, anyway I do use the YSL toucheclat, and I also use the labarotoire Garnier pen, which helps but again it doesnt make them vanish, I guess nothing you use will make them dissapear, and we aint getting any younger, so unless you have cosmetic surgery your stuck with them lovey. Your make up lady will work ownders on the day you'll be fine.

I had problems with dark circles under my eyes and Benefit Eye Con made them disappear to the point where people were asking me if I was doing my eye make up in a new way as I looked different.

Fair play Mooey but I think for the majority using a cream helps, but doesnt make them disappear completely, I guess it just depends on your skin type. I'd liked to have tried benefit eye con myself but hasnt it discontinued?

It's normally genetic. If a good diet hasn't sorted it, I'm afraid covering it is probably the solution.

    Best option:

    ?

Sadly with the option Cricks has suggested you can still see under the eyes. I'd accessorise the bag with some hooge Deidre Barlow specs.

I have very big circles under my eyes and am resigned that no lotion or potion will ever get rid of them as I do think it is genetic...

If it's any use - I use Boots No 7 No 7 Instant Radiance Concealer on a day to day basis (it doesn't last all day but is very light), but was looking for better coverage for the W day so yesterday went along to the Bobbi Brown counter and they recommended corrector as a base layer, and then concealer and then powder, under the eyes, and then their own version of the radiance concealer (going to use the Boots one instead) on top of the lids and powder to finish. Not cheap (£40) but I hope it will last the whole day.

I honestly cannot recommend the Bliss range enough - their energizing eye mask completely took away my dark circles when i tried it. You can buy them at Debs and larger boots and asos

I am a complete convert to their range - the triple oxygen mask was INCREDIBLE when i first used it - it was so brightening its literally changed the colour of my skin (in a good way!)

Its expensive, but their sample packs went really cheap in the sale which is when i stock up.

I suffer with bad circles even tho i only drink water, have good skin care routine (dermalogica) and sleep loads!!! I have found the best cure to be nivea eye cream (About £5 from superdrug) the best thing, it comes in a little blue glass pot.

I have found this thread very interesting as I have very bad dark circles due to long term anaemia.

as im dark skinned I find it impossible to use a concealer as I then look like I have big 'light' circles around my eyes?
