Knickers!!

Storky, 7 January, 2011 at 16:55 Posted on Planning 0 32

Ladies,

I'm fully in list making mode now. Current list is entitled 'Me - making me look pretty'! (How I wish I was joking!)

My thoughts have turned to undies. Any recommendations for posh pants? I know some of you have found some internet frillies and some have gone for high street undercrackers. Where do you rate? Where do you hate?

Bonus marks for any flashes. Not that kind though, you naughty lot!

Ta ever so,

CB x

    Couple of questions...

Are you thinking of having photographs in them as you get ready?

    Is practicality important?

I truly wanted to go for frilly and fancy, but I'm ever a fan of feeling comfy and ill fitting pants do nothing for me. So I went for my favourite Calvin Kleins but with a little lace around the edges. The bra is in the colour that I got and the pants match but I couldn't find a pic of the pants in the ivory. I have got a very lovely babydoll for the honeymoon though ?

    Oooh, good questions.

Erm, I'm not entirely sure poor Teri will want to see me prancing about in my pants but perhaps a cheeky little photo of putting my stockings on? They probably won't be seen other than any awkward poses getting me into my dress.

I want them to be pretty but comfy. Something that he'll notice as special but the smut can wait, he he! I think I'll save anything particularly risque for the honeymoon.

If the photographer gives you just a smidge of guidance, getting ready shots can look extremely graceful... It sounds like hold-ups might be best, keeping the full stockings & suspenders for the Honeymoon.

Can your dress cope with strong edges to your underwear? (i.e. no VPLs possible etc)...

It's thick material so I could get away with some frills, I'm sure. Probably pale colours too.

I'm very tempted for fun to wear some old fashioned frilly knickers, very much like those you'd see worn by CanCan dancers, but I am in two minds.

I'm not sure how comfortable I would be, and I'm really tempted to stay in my Debenhams knicks that I own loads of pairs of and wear all the time.

But at the same time I feel I should have something special for the day.

Comfort is the key!!! Go for something you know you'll be comfy in. If you want pretty undies, you can always nip to the loo and swap your nicks for a prettier pair and quickly put a pretty bra/corset (if you can put one on quickly!) when you whip your dress off - just get hubby to shut his eyes for a few mins!!

I bought a full set of matching, silk, expensive (for me) undies...and wore none of it!!! I don't mean I didn't wear any undies....!!!! On the day, I decided comfort was much more important to silky bits of prettiness, and as our little girl was sleeping in our room on the night of the wedding, then I knew we'd be getting undressed in the dark so hubby wouldn't see them anyway! I'm saving them for our honeymoon instead! In the end I just opted for my prettiest cotton knickers which I knew would be comfy. I didn't want to spend the whole day hoiking my nicks out of my bum!

Never fear, you should still be able to wear your usual pretty nickers all the way through your pregnancy. Unless you favour hipsters, and then you might struggle! ;0)

I would highly recommend Knickerbox for inexpensive bridal underwear. I bought mine from there but they don't stock them any more because - and don't think I'm crazy for doing this - I bought them 3 years ago (before I had even met my h2b) and have been saving them ever since. It is a beautiful ivory satin bra and knickers set with tiny little (fake) pearls on. otherwise you could try Figleaves which has tons of underwear and everything is reviewed by other customers.

Haven't found mine yet, but will be paying more for lingerie than shoes, hair accessories etc combined. Undies are my treat!!!? (can't wear heels, so not paying too much for shoes).

This here be my wedding panties. They are by Fantasie, style is called Ava and available in most department stores and lingerie boutiques, cost £18.50 and have a matching bra, suspender and garter. My BM had a very helpful tip which was to buy two pairs so if things get a bit errr...sweaty, you have a nice clean pair to change into ?

Sorry, couldn't resist. No solutions though, sorry. I'm a handful. And a not particularly big one at that.

After the evening reception we're going to have drinks in the bar and before that I will be getting changed into a t-shirt with 'Mrs ************' emblazoned across the front and something on my bottom half (obviously!).

During the day I'll be wearing my most comfortable knick knacks and will change into something a bit more uncomfortable when I change out of my dress.

I'm just worried that once my dress is off I'll be tempted to go clubbing...

Have you looked in Bravissimo or Leia? My set is available from both and that definitely goes up to a 40DD.

Cricket Bride if you want to push the boat out then try Rigby & Peller. I went last weekend and it was literally breath taking! The most amazing underwear, pricey yes, but the quality is second to none. They gave me a full consultation and when my dress is in then i'll be going back to purchase my underwear Smiley smile

To all the ladies with larger busts, they do a bespoke service too, so they can make your personal bra from scratch! Smiley smile

If i had the picture of the basque i fell in love with i would flash it but it's not on the website Smiley sad

But check the website out if you get some time.

Also i hear that Victoria's Secret ship to the UK now...they may be worth checking out too!

Me too. I would have never guessed that my OH would like them, so dismissed the idea of satin French Knickers immediately. Until he mentioned he would actually like them!!! I have been with him for over 3 years and never thought he'd fancy his new wife in frilly satin French knickers! Something like this he says:

    or:

But I'm going with Ultimo for under the dress and leave the above for the wedding night lol:

Grrr...Had first fitting today and need to change my knicks! Due to my belly button being much akin to the Grand Canyon, no matter how toned the rest of my tummy is the bleedin' dress dips in 😡

Have had to invest in some big panties to smooth over it http://www.marksandspencer.com/Ultimate-Magic-Floral-Waist-Cincher/dp/B003BACS7E?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_20&sr=1-20&qid=1294524922
