lack of shoe inspiration

ames2uk, 30 December, 2011 at 14:52 Posted on Planning 0 21

I'm feeling really uninspired, trying to find my wedding shoes.

I had budgeted an *ahem* embarrassing amount for my shoes as I was hoping to get a pair of Jimmy Choos or Gina's but i can't seem to be inspired by anything so I need your help!

I really don't want white/ivory shoes on the basis that i would never be able to wear them again, so I was thinking of some sparkly peeptoe ones but they all seem ridiculously high. I am comfortable in 3-4ins heels, but i was given some 5ins heels for xmas and they are far too high, hence the dilema with the designer shoes - they are all too high. I'm happy to spend money on a pair if I can wear them again

I was looking at 'charlize' by Benjamin Adams - has anyone had these?

Can you flash me your wedding shoes for inspiration?

These are my sparkly peep toe Jimmy Choos. I would suggest going to try some on as I find them really comfy.

ETA: Plus the foot strap means you're not trying to keep them on your feet which makes them easier to wear.

They are pretty - can i be rude and ask how much they cost? I have budgeted up to £500. That is the sort of shoe i am looking for, as i want something I can wear again.

Under budget then! I got them for £325 last year but they appear to have gone up to £345 now.

My mam isn't great in heels and she bought a pair of Jimmys the same day I bought mine and says they are one of the most comfortable pairs of heels she's worn. If you live near a stockist I'd definitely recommend trying some on.

    They are stunning.

I'll have to see if my mum will go to London with me to look for shoes then!

    Eek! I'm excited for you!

Its definitely best to shop around and don't panic buy, get something that you fall in love with. Another couple of names to look out for would be Miu Miu and YSL. They have lovely ranges in shoes.

Have you thought about Christian Louboutin? Although lots of the heels are really high with platforms they do have lots of 3/4 inch heels and they also have a bridal range which includes sparkle and not just white and ivory but some of the nude shades would be perfect for a wedding to really wearable afterwards too. I always think you'll have brand new red sole wedding pics of them too which always look amazing!

I recently had a ridiculous shoe splurge in Paris and these are actually from the bridal range in Louboutin but I couldn't resist and I'm not even getting married...might have to save them for the day that I do!

They are absolutely STUNNING but there is no way I can afford to buy louboutins - the crystal ones i've seen tend to be £1000+ which is ridiculous!!!! thats more than my first car was worth! I loved the idea of the red sole, as our theme is black white & red - each of us will have something red, and my OH did suggest that this could be the shoes lol

i've had a quick look at mui mui but they seem a bit OTT for me.

I did see a nice pair in Dune, but they were sold out in my size which was a bugger - I can't decide if I want to spend about £100 on the high street which i'll only wear a few times or treat myself to some designer shoes which will last me forever!

Thank you! They were a lot but I love them, they are my pride & joy ha and I don't regret it for one minute. I have a few pairs of designer shoes and don't regret any of them but I also have a few pairs of Kurt Geigers that get more comments than my pair of Jimmy Choos so at the end of the day if you pick a beautiful pair of shoes you'll feel amazing in them, regardless of the price. Don't feel that you have to spend 500 on shoes because you have the budget, if you see some then great but otherwise just see what you find!

Completely agree with this - no point in spending money just for the sake of spending money.

Not sure if designing your own appeals to you? Think they start from £250ish

They are lovely. I think I def need to go to the shop and try some on.

My other thought was maybe some red shoes - has anyone seen examples of brides wearing coloured shoes under a floor length dress? I know many of the girls on here have worn coloured shoes, but i've never seen the actual pic in the dresses to see what it looks like

Quite a few hitchers have had coloured shoes. Depending on the dress, you probably won't see the shoes unless you hitch the dress up to show them off! I'm all for wedding shoes you can wear again if you're spending a fair bit of money on them though.

Have you thought about Emmy, Kate Spade and Aruna Seth too? They do some fabulous shoes.

If you are looking for 3 in heels try Rachel Simpson, hers tend to be around 3 inches and are pretty under budget at about £150 a pair. I had these

haha I love them too, my mum has taken them to her house though because i kept rubbing them as they are so soft and she was worried they would have a bald patch by the wedding!

Mine are Red glitter "dorothy" type shoes from Schuh - they were really cheap, but I loved them!! I don't want too high heel as my H2B isn't that tall!
