My H is 6ft 1", I'm 5ft 4". In the past I found it unfair if he got a bigger portion than I did so for years I've been eating the same portion as him. This explains some of my spare tyre. The rest is explained by my love of Wispas.

I'm trying to watch my portion sizes as there is no way I should be eating the same amount as my H.

We have the same, but if I accidentally make one portion slightly bigger then I have it myself, cook's privilege.

ETA we're pretty much the same height and weight so I don't see why he should get more than me. ?

I eat between 1/4 and 1/3 less than my OH. And we still weigh the same ? (Can you believe that a 30 y/o is a little over 9 1/2 stone - he eats like a horse!)

No, but H is a greedy git and will often finish my smaller portion when I can't as well!

No way. He eats at least double what I do. He always clears my plate after I've finished eating too.......I think he just has hollow legs though as he is as thin as a rake.

H2B gets the bigger portion. We generally use the two-thirds to a third rule.

I can easily eat the same portions as H and manage dessert as well - there are some foods I can eat more of generally, mainly carb-fest foods such as pizza and cake. I have to control myself though as I could quite easily be very overweight if I ate like that all the time.

I used to but now I stand over him while he serves up and make sure he has more than me. And I've given up puddings (he always manages something after our "main") and then he'll usually go on to have supper before bed too! And he's still leaner than me! <unfair icon>

    me too..........

I'm adopting a new regime though and feeding us both a bit less full stop as I've decided that the tell tale half a stone has got to go

We've just come back from holiday and frankly hadn't realised we looked so terrible in our swim wear!

H and I cook separate meals as I have a lot of food issues (some medical, some faddy) and he likes a wider variety of food. I would say most of our meals are about the same size, but as mine are low fat and his aren't I'm still the healthier one.

I am glad some of you have said yes!

I always have the same size portion and even eat his leftovers!!! PIG!

I eat like a man!! should really try not to have the same sized portions but as someone else said we are about the same height so id feel cheated if i had a smaller portion!!?

We almost always plonk the food on the table and help ourselves. I generally have slightly less than him, but he has seconds. He's a lot bigger than I am.

I used to eat to eat about half what he did when we met. Over the years my portion sizes have crept up and we now eat about the same. I'm trying very hard to cut down on both our portion sizes.

We used to eat about the same but now I'm eating less than him. However he usually just has three meals a day and sometime misses some if he's on a difficuly shift, whereas I'm at home so tend to graze as well!

I lived with my nan as a teenager and she would always dish her partner up hayooge portions of food compared to ours and I used to feel hard done by decided it was an outdated sexist thing! ?

Cue me striving for 'equality' in my marriage ?

Oh dear, no wonder I'm so fat! I try to have less but in real terms, the difference is probably insignificant, ie will put a few extra roast potatoes on his plate but not count the couple that I swipe when I'm dishing it up ? Depends what it is though, I've got a lot better recently at rescuing the situation if my H is serving up as he will make mountains of rice and have probably about 3-4 times as much as you really should so I've got better at stopping him doing the same with mine as I'm afraid if it's on the plate, I will just eat it ?

I used to, but over the last few months I've ben trying to control my apetite. Now, I always have less meat and potatoes than him. If we're having a vegetarian bean type dinner I'll usually have as much as him, though he nearly always has seconds. Anyway, it must be doing some good as I'm steadily losing weight at the moment.

When I dish up tea; I do give H more than me. However, this only started when I began dieting and now I am pregnant it has remained as I tend to eat smaller portions throughout the day and snacks too ; )

I eat more throughout the day and get hungry quicker whereas he can manage on nothing until dinner. I will also have biscuits, crisps, chocolates and the occasional bit of fruit to keep me going between meals. Portionwise we eat about the same amount, but recently I am trying to cut down seeing as I'm 5'6" and he's 6' and weighs 12 stone and I'm 3/4 of his bodyweight.

Exactly WSS - generally I will give him about 2/3 of what we cook, and I'll have the rest. Quite often I'll have more veg/salad though, and he'll have more meat or carbs.

When I dish up it's usually the 2/3 to 1/3 ratio, however when H dishes up he'll always dish equally as he thinks it's wrong to give himself more. Then he ends up finishing mine as I can't eat that much. He's much bigger than me though.

We eat the same amount of meat or other protein and I probably eat more veg/salad. He eats vastly, vastly more carbohydrate than I do though- I generally have about 3-4ox pasta, say, whereas he easily eats 12oz(!)

I think I eat more during the day as I have breakfast when I get to work and he doesn't, plus I snack on yoghurt and fruit, and he doesn't. I make us both a packed lunch and that is usually the same - either sandwiches or some sort of salad. Today I made salad from the left over rice from last night & made sure he had more of it than me, plus extra tuna.

For the evening meal, I always give him the bigger piece of meat or fish, plus more carbs. he is 6'4" and a good 7" taller than me, so he should eat bigger portions than me. If there are left overs, he will often tuck into that, and he will then have chocolate in the evening (more than me)

We both need to eat less, however as I am now upduffed, I don't want to diet as such, but I do watch what I eat.

    Same as us.

I do have a bit of a issue with how much food he prepares when he cooks. He sees a massive portion as 'normal' as that's what his mum does, when in fact she cooks enough for a regiment. I think that's mainly because I don't want him to end up obese, with all sorts of health problems, like his dad.

I get the bigger portion - it's bad though and it shouldn't be like that. I have tried to start giving H the bigger portion in the hope that it will help me loose weight.

H is 6ft and like a rake, no matter how much he eats he puts no weight on. I'm 5ft 5 and overweight, i need to eat less.

I'm afraid I eat much less! There was a time I could match what any man could eat but those days are long gone. The nuts thing is, I was so much thinner when I could eat more. ?

Last night we had pan fried smoked mackrel (I had one fillet, he had two), warm tomato salsa, bean mash (he had about 1/3 more than me) and salad. The only thing I ate more of was salad.

No way, I'd be the size of a house and Im big enough already! He needs much more food than me, it's not a case of being fair it's a case of his body needing more fuel than mine does.

I'm quite surprised at the amount of women who eat the same size meal as their partners.
