Ladies dress too small?? is this even possible? please help.

kiiradee, 3 April, 2011 at 17:42 Posted on Planning 0 12

Right so ive lost 17 stone in two years and i am between dress sizes at the momment 8/10. i have a unique taste and ive seen the dress i love in a uk bridal liqudation sale on ebay. it was unbelivably cheap and it should be here in two working days... im just worried as i know last time i was measured my measurments were 36 bust 29 waist and 36 hips. the dress is a standard size eight and measurements are 35 bust 28 waist and 38 hips. so its 2 inches too big on the hips but 1 inch too small bust and waist.

i got it for a very stupid price so im not at a huge loss if doesnt fit but i doubt id find a dress i love as much. im getting married november do you think its possible with a bit of dedication that i can drop an inch from my bust and an inch from my waist. i have gone down from uk size 32 to where i am now within 2 and half years. im just hoping i can get into this dress.

what do you think?.

oh to add the dress is a corset back style.

Wow amazing effort! its obviously much harder to lost weight but with a good trainer you should be able to sculpt your body to the shape you want in the time you have and fit the dress. Trainer's can be expensive but there is loads of information on the net on targetting different areas of your body. Definitely worth a try if you love the dress!

    Good luck!?

Thankyou ladies. believe it or not the dress was 80 pounds.. sample sale listed as unworn and not tried on. so yes i will take it into a store and see but first i want to see if i can tone up. i should feel confident as i work in a toning centre its just i have lot of loose skin which is not possible to tone... but ill try my hardest as i LOVE the dress. x

Have you actually tried it on? I don't think going by inches is a realistic way to know if a dress fits or not. I had tried on a dress that was my exact size going by my inches so thought it would fit like a glove but it was too small in reality.

    Lovely dress btw. x

That dress is stunning! Amazing price too,I'm sure altering it won;t be an issue, the seams usually have about an extra 1.5 inches in them

If it is a corset back surely you can just adjust the ribbons a little to tighten or loosen them in the right places. Pretty dress!

Well done on your weight loss, that is incredible! Im sure you could do it no problem! As far as losing inches go I find it easier to do this through toning up at the gym than dieting.

Although i damaged my knee in January and couldnt get to the gym and as a last ditch attempt to get in shape for my wedding (its on Saturday) I tried the Flabelos machines at my local sunbed shop. They claim you can lose a dress size in 2 weeks and I admit i was sceptical however I ahve been using them for about 2 months and I have dropped a dress size, toned up everywhere and lost about 1-2 inches on my thighs, waist and chest! They have been a life saver for me and I will defo be using them when i get back from my honeymoon!

That is an AMAZING weight loss - absolutely amazing. Good for you! With a personal trainer you can definately sculpt + tone ur body but 'spot' reducing is not always possible - and sometimes you can actually get larger - albeit more toned + defined looking. However I am also lead to believe by bridal shops ref my BM dresses that they can be let out one size. Let us all know how you get on with your bargain fress!

Thankyou everyone Smiley smile this forum rocks.. i contacted the seller before i paid and she said there is a generous amount of material in the seams should the dress need to be taken out a little. and that it should fit due to the back so feeling more positive.. ill let everyone know when it arrives X
