Ladies, what are you doing with your hair?

Titchymichy, 8 July, 2014 at 07:36 Posted on Planning 0 13

I have (so far) elected to leave my hair as I normally wear it. Short layered blonde bob. I used to have long dark hair but fancied a complete change about a year ago & has it cut shorter, starting with highlights I've gone blonder & blonder!

Having really fine hair, my current cut makes it look thicker & more substantial but I'm still not sure I can keep any slides or combs intact as they normally slip out.

Are any of you shorter haired & what are your plans?

I have short flat fine hair. I'm having it glossed the week before the wedding and then will be lifting it a bit on the day with a lethal combination of products (it won't stay up for long as really fine) and wearing an alice band style hairband so no need for a comb or clips.

I know you wanted brides with short ish hair but as my hairs a few inches from my bum I thought I'd tell you what my mums doing with her Bob. My mum has double growth so has her bob quite layered, our stylist is putting loads of volume in it on the day and a fascinator, for a bride with a Bob I think a simple hair slide can make a hair style.

Can't offer any suggestions as have long hair but have you booked a hairdresser yet? As when you go in for your trial you could ask...I'm sure they will have suggestions for stuff you could do that you hadn't even thought of. It would be good if you could take some cheap hair accessories with you that they can play around with, then you'll have more of an idea of what suits you, will stay in your hair etc before you buy anything. Hope this helps x

All I knowit I wont be having an "up do". I only ever wear my hair up at work or for "casual" stuff like gardening or food shops. When I go out I do my hair down, straight or curly. So I wouldnt want to have it much different to normal. I am considering extensions so that I can "tumble" it down one shoulder.

I wore mine how I usually wore it. I had a bob type style at the time.

it was straight, down with a headband

I usually have a bob but have been growing it since I booked the wedding in December and its now just past my shoulders. I'm having extensions put in and having it left down and wavy x

My clip in extensions only cost £50, maybe you could get some? It would make your hair much thicker? x

I have fine hair and have it all very short and choppy. I was planning on getting those hair spiral things that you twist into your hair. Once I've got some product on my hair they should stay in, I'm just getting some very small, fine diamonds - so subtle but there!

I have grown mine from a bob and I have the same issue as you in that mine is fine. I'm having it up in a sort of casual, curled bun thing and I got some short extentions to pad it out a bit rather than add length. I have two hair appointments left before the big day and I have to keep talking myself out of having it chopped off because mine really doesn't last looking nice all day in just a bob cut.

    Fine hair is a curse!

I also have ridiculously fine hair. I always had it long (bra-strap length) until about 18 months ago when I decided to chop it into a long bob to look more 'professional' for work. Then 6 months after that, OH went and proposed!

It's now grown to about my shoulders, but I have bought Halo extensions for the day as I want my hair in a low, loose side bun and there just isn't enough of my hair to make that look good! I've got my hair trial on Friday (eeee so exciting!) so fingers crossed it works & looks good.

I've got a side tiara (on a headband) and some little bun pins as there's no way a comb would stay in my hair.

This is what I am hoping mine will look like. I am off for a trial tonight. but it has to be said, I already have long, dark hair and a fringe, so hopefully not too much for the girl to have to do! Just a bit of waving, bouffing and a strategically placed tiara thing.

The girl doing mine told me to Google celebrities with a similar hair style to mine (they don't have to look like me facially necessarily) and to see some red carpet pictures of them all styled up. Then you can get a good idea of what your hair is capable of.

Who is your celebrity hair twin? Maybe we can all have a browse on Google images for some inspiration for you?

    My youngest has fine hair and had it cut into a bob for the same reason as you but with loads of products she's going to wear her hair like this for the day;
