Las Vegas - Shows Rec's

MBK, 7 January, 2009 at 14:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 22

Anyone got anything to rave about?

H has managed to find an excellent deal so we are off for a long weekend in March.

I am a Vegas Regular but the shows dont baffle me as such but we will only have limited time and want to make the most of it.

Thanks

E

Can I be very rude and ask how much it is costing? I would LOVE to go to Vegas, but don't have a clue where to start with looking for deals.

Ooo ooo .. stopover in Houston first on your way! It's FAR to far to travel in one go you know - you'll need a break! Seems like when I'm in the UK there is some catastrophe or another stopping us getting together, so perhaps this is the best option! ?[half serious icon!]

I've seen "O" at the bellagio which was excellent if youre into shows. really spectacular. also seen the dancing/rude one at the MGM which was great, cant remember the name. definitely go to "forty deuce" when youre there, its at mandalay bay - a burlesque show, very cool. not a show as such, its a small club, the show starts at midnight. its super sexy, but not at all smutty, and the clientele is 50/50 men/women. book a seat/table though, if you dont, the standing part gets VERY crammed.

you could get a great deal, espn at the moment. the hotels are desperate to sell rooms. any travel agent or holiday website would be fine (but the deals on expedia always seem expensive to me). avoid thomas cook at all costs, i ve heard some hideous hideous reports.

Saw Zumanity a few years ago at I think New York New york. I loved it (but love all Cirque shows). It's a bit more risque than other Cirques but nothing OTT. OH wasn't overly convinced, he liked the girls in the big wine glasses but wasn't too convinced when it was just the chaps ?!

I love Vegas, even just sitting back and people watching. have a great time.

Hi Nick - will check out 'O'

I think the MGM rude one is Humana yes?

Yes we usually stay at THE Hotel so have had the Ivan Kane forty deuce rammed down our throats everywhere you turn before.

I quite fancy one of the Cirque shows is Ka abit old now? Will check them all.

Nick, are you referring to the Crazy Horse show at the MGM? We went to see that one, was quite good.

Also went to the Phantom The Vegas Spectacular, liked it very much (I usually really don't like musicals)

It's at the Mirage. We went to see it last March and loved it. Was Mr P's first Cirque show, and not having any preconceived ideas, he was in awe. It was great to watch his face actually! He's also a big Beatles fan, so it was a bonus, plus it was our anniversary, so the title was appropriate (it not nauseating!)

Don't bother with David Copperfield if he is still there. He was good, but not great at all. Definitely better on TV than live IMO.

Elton John was great - loved his show.

We have seen Cirque du Soleil's KA and O in Vegas, and they were both brilliant! O is slighlty better I think. I really liked David Copperfield and would also recommend going to boxing if you get a chance!

O is spectacular, but I think Ka surpasses it. If I could only see one show in Vegas I would make it Ka.

Penn & Teller at the Rio are great, if you're into magic.

We saw Penn and Teller and Love in June , both fab in different ways.

If you haven't been to Cirque before Love is a lot of fun (but take a cardie because the a/c is set to deep freeze in there).

I'm so jealous , we loved Vegas.

I guess as we will be at the MGM then Ka is easier as we dont have to drag our arses far!

Yes I thought so when friends spent the best part of £1000 to go to Dublin for 3 nights! we will be paying quite a bit less and going a lot further!

Vegas totally rocks - would love to see boxing if there is some on will investigate!

    Again thanks All x

Our friends went for Christmas and raved about the Cirque de Soleil show at the MGM Grand - think it was the Ka one on a specially built stage that goes vertical!

I've seen Ka and Love and personally preferred Love. Is Tom Jones in town when you're there? I keep missing the bugger. ?

We saw Penn and Teller and tbh we thought they were absolute shyte. The humour was very 'American' and for most of the act, they concentrated on screaming abuse about George Bush and burning the American flag.

We saw Mamma Mia too and it was brilliant. We both loved it.

    I love Vegas.

Another vote for 'O'. Amazing. H isn't in to those sort of shows but it blew him away.
