Sorry I know this has probably been done to death, I've tried to search but I am such a numpty I've given up! After thinking about doing this for some time I have finally decided to go for it. I've had a consultation before so I know I'm a good candidate but I need recomendations of where to get it done.

Thanks

My BIL has just had his done at Optical Express and is really happy with the results. I'm not sure i'd trust a company like that to mess with my eyes though, don't ask me why, I guess it's the stigma, a bit like Specsavers.

I had mine done with Optical Express last May & it's truly the best thing I've done. My FIL also had it done there & a few of my friends...all with positive results.

The pre & post care is really good and they're not pushy. I can thoroughly recommend them and am happy to answer any questions you have about it all

I'm not sure I like these comments, pre-surgery I'd had nothing but good service from specsaver & saved myself hundreds of pounds on trying to make me feel better about my face furniture, and 'seeing' in general.

Sorry, but it just niggled me

I can highly recommend accuvision. They don't advertise, they rely on word of mouth but if you type it in to google you can find their website and some review sites.

I was going to get my eyes done and saw ultralase, optimax and accuvision. Accuvision did loads and loads more tests, asked questions and answered so many of my questions I was really impressed. They showed me the operating room, introduced me to other patients, remembered my name etc. In the end they told me I couldn't have it done and explained exactly why - basically that I had a condition which, after being cut by a laser, would make the surface of my eye unstable and 10 years down the line it would be an incurable condition. None of the others picked this up, and would have signed me off their books by the time this happened. Accuvision have you back once a year if you want for follow up check ups.

I was absolutely gutted when I couldn't have it done, but if I had, I would have definitely gone with accuvision. They have a London and Solihull clinic and I went to the London one. If you want any more info PM me

Our local NHS eye hospital also offers this service privately - if I was to go anywhere I think it may be there.

It might be worth having a look at your local hospital websites.

If you decide to have it done, could you tell all on here please - I'm probably getting it done next year and would love more peoples views!

Oooo isnt it difficult - my colleague had hers done last year and recommended Ultralase! Now someone else has said deffo Accuvision and another says Optical Express. There doesnt seem to be one single recommendation that beats the rest! so how can you choose!

Sorry Tahdah, it's completely my issue, MIL had quite a few problems with Specsavers in the past, bad service, treatment etc. and it's led me to lump all these opticians that offer big discount and fast service opticians into the same category. I'm glad you've had good experience.

Sorry its taken me ages to respond, I've been out all day. Thanks for the replies, its such an important thing to do so I want to get the best care and treatment possible.

I'll google accuvision now and have a look on the optical express website too.

    Thanks again ?

Another vote for Optical Express here! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, from start to finish they were fab. I wouldn't be put off as they are 'high street' (although I must admit I had the same thought at first and did look into options ie the famous eye hospital in London). It was important for me to have someone closish to me as you have to go prior to surgery to see if you are suitable, then several times post surgery to have your checkups.
