Leaving a job WWYD

Leaving job on Tuesday. Reason for leaving is total pr*t of a manager (family friend of owners) who rarely turns up for work andwhen they do makes loads of noise/shouts at staff etc etc making themself feel important. I'm lucky and will be leaving. However I have/had a great team who are exceptional. Feel really guilty about leaving them. My soon to be -ex manager asked me to carry out their appraisals before I left. I've done this however they've all made virtually the same comment i.e. never there, stresses/shouts etc etc.

Now, do I tell the manager before I go about what they've said in the hope that this will be taken on board and there'll be an improvement or do I keep quiet as my lovely staff could end up being treated badly because of what they thnk? If I go to the owners there's every indication that they won't listen so there's nothing to be gained by doing that.

AwwwwwwwwwwArrrggghhhh ?

Think you've just answered your own question there. Personally, if you had a problem with said boss then I would have bought it up when you worked there. Now it just looks like sour grapes, and could possibly affect how the staff staying are treated in future.

I have spoken to soon to be ex Manager when I first realised we had problems. Lots of promises about improving communication / not shouting , supporting me/the team etc etc. After going through this several times I did explain I couldn't work with them and chose to move on.

However the team I've worked with are really good and I don't want them to suffer. There's no sour grapes - I am moving on to something a lot better. What I want is for the team not to suffer. They are all lovely and do a really good job. They deserve a lot better

The only reason there's not chance of anything happening if I let the 'family owners' know about the feedback from the staff is that the manager and the owners are family friends.

If they don't report directly to this person, they report to you (and your successor I assume?) then does this person really affect them?

My new boss shouts a lot and isn't any use - I wish he wouldn't turn up every day TBH ?

Doughnut - he really does get involved when/where he doesn't need to. He undermines everyone

The owners don't appear to know that he's useless. A major customer has called him a 'seagull' i.e. he swoops down and cr*ps on everything.

I'm lucky to be getting out and am really excited about what I'm doing next. However after a very emotional day I just want the really good guys to be looked after.

    Sounds like my manager!

I'm not sure what to suggest... their appraisals are about their performance though aren't they, so it's not really relevant. I'd leave it I think; there's not really anything you can do.

My boss is a seagull too- love that term. There doesn't seem to be much benefit to the staff if you do say something, but it could have repercussions for them. Would the manager not see the appraisals anyway and see the comments for himself?

Guys, I probably won't say anything but my old team deserve so much more!

Seagull is a brilliant term - not only do they 'cr*p ' over everyonne they sure do make a lot of noise while they're doing it !!!

Oh and they also seem to love chips too - if you've ever been down Devon on the coast and happen to have some chips - watch the noisey ones swoop down, making the hideous noise, cr*pping as they go and making sure they get as much as they can for as little effort!!!
