Leg Toning Trainers

overtherainbow, 14 April, 2011 at 10:55 Posted on Planning 0 15

Does anyone own any and, if so, just wondered if they do actually do what it says on the tin?

I brought a pair of Reebok Easytone trainers in the Next sale. To be honest I wouldn't pay £70 for them. I think that for some people buying them would encourage you to go out walking more than you would have done before which, even with a regular pair of trainers, would tone your muscles anyway (IYKWIM).

That said, I wear mine all the time as I bought them to replace my previous pair of trainers and they are very comfortable as I do a lot of walking.

I've got the Skechers ones and they definitely work your legs harder when you walk. They just look a bit "special". also I wouldn't say you could run or do aerobics or anything in them because you would no doubt break your ankles.

The Reebok ones look much nicer but not sure if they have the same effect.

I own a pair of MBTs which cost £165 (I know, I know...I'm very naughty about these things, you see, I do spoil myself rotten I'm afraid). However, I do walk to and from work everyday and I have had them 18 months and they are as good as new (had to buy one new set of laces, that is all). And I do think they make some difference to be honest (although I am quite fit and swim most days - however I have a super busy job and eat A LOT of cake to get through the day, too!).

I would definitely buy another pair - although they look ridiculous, they are giant and when I stand still I rock forwards...which can be alarming for others when stood in a queue.

    K xx

I could really do with another pair of trainers anyway as mine are getting a bit wrecked now and as my birthday is coming up thought Mmmm... maybe! I do go for a long walk first thing on a morning so thought these may help a bit more cos legs are the hardest thing as you get older to keep toned. Might go and try some on and drop some hints ?

I walk around 5 miles a day in ordinary trainers (it's a long commute) and my legs are pretty well toned.

I HATE the look of the "special" shoes. I have size 8 feet anyway and would look like a freaky clown thing with those on, so no way am I wearing them!

I also have MBT's and have had them for about 4 years so before Sketchers, Fitflops and the like came on the scene!

I can't comment on the others but MBT's were the original 'leg toning' trainers/shoes and I noticed a difference in my legs when I first started using them, don't notice it as much now but that may be because I am used to them now - I now do my gym workouts in them....they have also helped me stopping my feet pronating so badly.

They are very strange when you first try them as the sizes come up so much smaller, you think you are going to fall backwards all the time and your legs ACHE the first time you wear them for a long time but I am a fan and would recommend MBT's to anyone.

Yeah I think there must have been a patent on them so no one could copy the design or idea for a long time. I could never afford MBT's when they first came out though.

OH works in the 'sports biz' and apparently all these reebok gym clothes and extra special toning thingies in shoes and the material are complete BS. My point to him was surely they wouldn't be allowed to advertise it if it doesn't work? Seems there is some clause somewhere these companies can describe things how they like. I personally have tried the fitflops and the reebok flipflops and both felt really uncomfy for me so I didn't stick with them.

WWS. I do a lot of walking any way, and can't say I really notice any difference when using the Easytones.

Its a little machine that you stand on and you have to draw your legs together. Sounds weird I know. It takes a lot of effort but its worth it. Just google legmaster - they had them on the gadget show!
