Happy Pancake Day ?

Is anyone giving up/starting/changing/examining anything for Lent? I am giving up chocolate. I am not completely sure of my reasons for this. It boils down to something like: to make me stop and think a bit.

I'm also going to put some effort into supporting a fundraising campaign for a school in Mozambique that my nursery is involved in. Starting with donating something chocolately to the luxury hamper raffle ?

Thought this was an interesting article: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/features/3635541/Lent-Are-we-giving-up-for-the-right-reasons.html

Good luck anyone else!

I think we should stick to one day a week as otherwise I'm bound to miss it.

    What does everyone think?

I've just spoken with our vicar and apparently I don't need to take a course to be confirmed I just need to go and meet with her. I'm really lucky as our church only do confirmations every 2 years and the next is the 29th March so they're going to include me in that. Going to chat with the vicar on the 14th. I'm really looking forward to it.

Woohoo! count me in too please! my somewhat enthusiastic plan for lent is to give up chocolates, sweeties, crisps, alcohol and eating out (!) all of which are nice and i will miss. the nearest i have decided to allow myself is yoghurt or jelly... i go to church on sundays for the 8am BCP service but it would be good to spend some time having more of a study of it all for lent.

I'm not giving anything up for Lent, but I do have a plan which I hope, will change my life, and the life of others.

Each week I am going to donate a bag of clothes / books / presents to our local charity shop.

I'll gain by feeling I have a little contol in my life, and the local community gain from the sales they make.

Not the usual kind of Lent thing, but better than giving up something just for the sake of it, with nobody benefiting IMO.

I've found an online daily study here too for anyone who wants to do a daily one. I've set it as my homepage so I remember.

I've just done today's and it's great - just the kind of thing I need. Highly recommended for anyone looking fro a daily study.

The weekly ones will be god to do together too.

Mondays or Tuesdays are usually best for me as I can hitch from the office during the day (except, sods law, for next week ? - but I could log on in the evening from home instead). Though to be honest, I don't mind when it is.

Shall we say Mondays then? Although I'm away Monday - Wednesday next week so will be a bit late with my contribution!

Can I join too, regaining some faith may be a real help to me right now. I love Evelina's idea as well, but that might be a cheat as I already have 2 bags waiting to go.

Not sure if anyone saw but we are starting our confirmation/lent classes next week. They are on a Monday evening so if anyone thinks feedback from them (what we discussed etc) would be helpful then I can feedback on a tuesday?

    Gnomette thats a good idea.

I think it may be difficult to keep the thread to just one day as we all have various commitments. How about we start the discussion of a Monday and then people can add as the week goes along?
