Less than 7 weeks, major panic about everything!

Lilacbouquet, 12 May, 2018 at 16:45 Posted on Planning 0 2

How do I fit everything in with the time I have left? All of the big things are done, but all suppliers need finalising with guest numbers, the wine etc needs choosing with the barman, BM shoes to buy, MOB shoes and bag to get, then there are tonnes of bunting left to make, table boards to choose, final venue decor, confetti etc etc.

I seem to not have enough free hours in the evenings or weekends, we have many appointments booked but there are still some bits left to decide on like the chair sashes. Why is it these little details suddenly matter so much. I'd never paid them much attention before.

it just seems a bit too much in a very restricted amount of time, 2 years seemed ages at first, and now it's nearly here. I can't picture the venue yet, we are decorating it from scratch ourselves and with hire items booked but I can't visualise the final look.

Could there be any daft things big or small that I could have overlooked?

Do you think 2 days off work is enough? It's on a Friday and I've got the weds and thurs booked off to collect my dress and get the centrepieces to the florist and to start decorating the venue.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to stress yourself out. It's only you who knows how it should look. None of your guests know so if you run out of time to do a couple of small things they're not going to know anyway. It's like doing a speech and missing a bit out. Only you know what you've missed out but your audience won't know. Don't lose sight of what the day is all about - you and your partner getting married. It's not the end of the world if there's no bunting up.

I get married a week on Thursday, also booked 2 years in advance and wondering where has my time gone? I had a similar panic about 3 weeks ago, I found writing everything down and crossing it off once it was done really helped. You'll be surprised just how much you can get done in a short space of time. Try and get it sorted now rather then in 5 weeks time just so you can relax before the wedding and not cause yourself unnecessary stress.

Delegate and oversee! (spoken like a true project manager!)

is there any way you can get into the venue one evening and do a "mock up table" of the things you can nail down and see how the table looks? i know you are hiring things in but if you know how you want it to look you might be able to delegate those bits to other helpers, leaving you time to sort the hired in stuff and be able to oversee and tweak the bits you need to?

get people involved with the promise of a free beer or wine- get everyone round once or twice to help out making bunting or gluing and sticking things that you need, make an evening out of it with some music and food- a few pizzas and some wine.

a list is definitely a good idea- then maybe order it in timeline so you know what is most important now and what can wait a little bit, it will help create a clear picture of where your time needs to go and when.

two days will be fine as long as you plan and use up all the goodwill you can in getting other people to help you Smiley smile

    hope that helps :-)
