Little niggling worries......

ladyworm, 22 September, 2012 at 08:34 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi Hitchers!

I woke up this morning with a few things on my mind, and was hoping for some help and advice from all you knowledgable people!

Basically I'm worried about how I get in and out of the side of an old VW camper van in with my largish dress and shoes?

Also, and sorry for lowering the tone, but what is the best way to go to the toilet? I've heard backwards is best from some people, the other way from others.....

Sounds really silly but I do stress about the little things!

Thanks in advance, LW x

Can't help you with the toilet as I had a short dress but the doors are quite wide, Ours had the sink in but we still both managed to sit down on the step. if yours doesn't have the sink there will be loads more room.

You will be fine with the camper- I had a tea length dress and it was fine to get in and out but the staff are used to helping ladies in and out of cars in long dresses so they will be able to assist you.

Cant help with the loo situation as again my dress was short. I hear form the long dress brigage that sit on the loo facing the wall with a BM holding your dress out at the back is the way to go.

Can't help you with the toilet thing I'm afraid but with getting into the camper- you could buy one of those little plastic step-stools,I think they sell them in pound shops-just leave it in the van and pop it onto the pavement when you are getting in and out?

Well I can help with the toilet thing ? my dress was long, lace and loadsa layers. I used my MOH which was my sister as she has seen it all anyway. We used the disabled toilets as much more space, lifted the skirts up and to one side, she then scooped it all up in her hands and held it slightly up while I did the deed and cleaned up. It all depends on the layout of the toilet as it was easier for us to do it at the side. Once I was done we stood in the middle of the loo and fluffed out my skirts. Only went to the loo twice but second time we were sooooo much quicker.

Thanks everyone, I'm sure I'm just being silly over the little things. Maybe the wedding dreams I'm having where I trip and fall down the aisle aren't helping :-)

Yep, facing the wall is the best way for the loo... But remember to take your under-crackers off first!

Mine were fine just pulled down!

I went backwards so I faced the wall and got either my mum or hubby to hold the dress up at the back and it was fine. If your venue has a disabled toilet go for that as the extra space made it a lot easier.
