Live flowers???

Megh, 30 September, 2012 at 13:43 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi,

I have been asked to organise flower arrangements for my sisters wedding, she would really like live flowers. After spending several days searching the net and calling florists, I am stumped! Does anyone know of any garden centres or florists that specialise in this sort of decoration? I'm not looking forward to attempting my hand at growing my own ;-) would be much appreciated if someone has a recommendation.

Thanks in advance

Meg

I don't know how creative this is, but I just looked up M&S- and most of the things under their plant section are flowers. (And some of them I can see working really well as centrepieces) Waitrose also have a potted plant selection (although not as wide and I'm not as keen on it). You could get some from a supermarket the day before but it could be risky.

I've also had and received flowers from this company- I can't attest to their house plants, but their cut flowers last for ages and seem very high quality to me, so maybe their house plants might be good too? http://www.bunches.co.uk/plants/house-plants.php

Can't attest to this company at all, just saw them on Google: http://www.bloom.uk.com/Flowering-Plants/MCategory_24551_38363_-1_13551

I can see it's been done, but there aren't a lot of companies out there that do it from what I've been searching.

    Hope this helps.

Most florists should be able to do this for you....I think nearly all the florists I have looked at have some live work in their portfolio (these tend to be larger London Florists mind) Where in the country are you?

I suppose this depends a lot on what time of the year the wedding is...in spring you can buy flowering bulbs like hyacinth, iris, muscari, tulips and narcissi which would be easy ...in summer it will depend on what is available in the garden centres in pots. What sort of thing is she after?

Thankyou so much for looking! She is wanting large table dressings and large live flower displays for the church, I think I'm going to have to be a bit more creative rather than looking for an easy option Eek! It will be at the beginning of July in North Wales, there should be some colourful flowers about at least. Quite excited about the challenge.?
