Living in the UK, staying in Spain (holiday) and Marriage in Gibraltar?

Mrs-Winslow-To-Be, 22 April, 2013 at 13:58 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 2

Is this possible? I know it sounds stupid but if we were to get married in Gibraltar, we said we would like to actually stay in Spain for the before and after but only go there for the actual Ceremony/Reception.

Has anybody done this? Was there any trouble with crossing the border? We are looking to get married May 2014. I've heard a lot about trouble with cars getting through but I don't particularly want me and my guests to walk through the border in our wedding attire?!

Many thanks!

I am also thinking of doing this. (We will be living in Spain from next month, and it will probably be easier to plan a wedding there rather than via Google and lots of trips home to view venues etc!!) Was very disappointed to find out that we can't actually get married in Spain (you have to have lived there for two years), so thinking of legally tying the knot in Gibraltar and nipping over the border to Spain to celebrate. I think this is quite common (and easy).

I have found this website to be useful http://www.flyawayweddings.com/legal/uk/ http://www.flyawayweddings.com/gibraltar/

    Good luck! x
