    Hi and welcome to HITCHED!?

Sorry don't have experiences of weddings, just wakeboarding and it really is a gorgeous setting. What makes you want to go there for your wedding?

Congratulations on the engagement! You'll find loads of help and advice here.

There are some lovely venues around Loch Lomond... Cameron House, Duck Bay, Ross Hall .... I've filmed a wedding at the Youth Hostel on Loch Lomond too - it was great for smaller weddings. You can also get married on a boat on the loch ? http://www.cruiselochlomondltd.com/weddings.htm

have fun planning, there are lots of local hitchers and hibs who can help ?

Thanks for the welcome, Ruth! We decided on Loch Lomond as we live in Glasgow and have been to Loch Lomond a few times together so thought it would be a lovely setting for our wedding, without being too far away.

Ebee- Thanks! I get bad seasickness though so not too sure that would be the best idea! ?

Aw thanks Jen (just assuming that's your name, lol)! It is a lovely setting!

We viewed Lodge on Loch Lomond and although we thought it was lovely, it just didn't 'feel' right if you know what I mean. We've also looked at Ross Priory which we didn't like and are viewing Cameron House on Sunday.

    Fingers crossed!

No official date set yet but we're thinking 2010. What about you? Do you live near Loch Lomond?

I've heard a lot of good and bad feedback from Cameron House so I'm not holding out too much hope for it to be honest!

Aw wow, we used to go to school in Kilmacolm!

We live up in Glasgow now so not far from Loch Lomond at all!

I'm starting to get a bit more excited about Cameron House now! ?

    Hi Jen

We have booked Cameron House for next year. We went to Lodge on Loch Lomond first and thought it was a bit too small, we then went to Cameron House and were blown away, it is just gorgeous ?

If you have any questions i'd be happy to help

    xx

    Aw that's fab!

Anything you could tell us about Cameron House would be much appreciated since (as you probably know) the wedding brochure and website tell you absolutely nothing! Is it as pricey as I've heard (if you don't mind me asking)?

Hi there, can't tell you anything about prices for weddings but h2b treated me to a night there when we got engaged (it was also my birthday) and it was fantastic! I didn't want to leave the next day! I would've loved to have had our wedding there but just knew it would have been way over our budget!

Aw, what a lovely location to get engaged! ?

I am pretty nervous about the price too, but we've already decided that if we really love it, we'll cut numbers to make sure we get our perfect place! Fingers crossed!

    Hi Jen

I'm more than happy to help ?

Cameron House charge £1700 for the hire of the Lomond Suite (which is huge!!) for your wedding breakfast and reception, a piper, a toastmaster, all your stationery like menus, place cards and table plan, all your table linen, napkins and tealights, cake stand and ceremonial sword to cut the cake and a night in a suite for the bride and groom ?

They also keep 10 rooms aside at a discounted rate for guests wishing to stay.

The rest of the cost depends on which menus you choose and which drinks package so you can fit it round your budget. The only downfall is that if you are planning on getting married on a Saturday from June to September you have to have a minimum of 150 guests, any other date has a minimum of 100 guests.

    Hope that helps.

When are you going to go and see it?

    Suze

Thanks a million, Suze! That helps a lot! It sounds wonderful!

We're going to see it on Sunday at 2pm (can you tell I'm counting down the hours, lol)! I really hope we fall in love with it as much as we did the location and the grounds.

We're looking at having 40-60 guests so we wouldn't be able to have the Lomond Suite but apparently there's a smaller room downstairs called the Morning Room that holds up to 40 so we could have that for the meal and the ceremony but we'd ideally like to invite 20 extra for the evening so hope they can accommodate that!

A friend h2b's family got married in the Morning Room just a year or two ago and they raved about how wonderful it was and said that although it seemed like a lot of money, all the extra touches from the staff made it worthwhile. They apparently go above and beyond, stuff like having the on-site hairdresser to come and tidy up the hair (even though it had been done elsewhere earlier in the day) for no extra cost! ?

    No problem, glad it helped.

I'm sure you will love it when you go, when we went they showed us one of the rooms and it was gorgeous, it even had a small putter machine thing at the end of the bed to practice your golf ha ha!!

The experience I have had so far with the staff has been very good. The menus for the food also look amazing-we can't wait to go for our food and wine tasting.

I hope it all goes great on Sunday and you will have to let me know what you think ?

    xx

    Hi,

Sorry to jump in on the thread but my colleague went to a wedding recently in Cameron House and said it was nice food etc but they weren't too pleased at having to pay £190 for a room for the night and the drinks were very expensive (price comes with a 5 star hotel though). Might be something to consider for your guests if you aren't putting on buses to take them home.

    Good luck on Sunday.

H2b is 23 and was class of 2003 and I'm 22 and was class of 2004.

It's a very small school though so I probably know people +/- 5 years of us!

Thanks PG, we were planning on putting on a wee minibus if enough people don't want to stay!
