I'm not sure you'll get a hotel in that area for your budget, unless hostels appeal. I don't know a lot about London hotels tbh but we've put friends up in the Days Inn at Waterloo before. V similar to travelodge - cheap and cheerful, but you get a comfy bed and a private bathroom. Think a double room is circa £70 a night. It's v close to the south bank London action (10 min walk) and v. close to a tube station (Lambeth North).

ETA: You could probably get a hotel for one night in that area within budget, I'm sure others will have suggestions as to where.

Thank you for your replies. Funky, yes just hotel budget. I guess we could stay further out and get the tube but I have no idea of time/distance! We are only an hour and half away on the train so one night would be doable as we could come down early morning and not leave til evening time the following day.

Some of the airbnb places are excellent, I found this one for my friend to come and visit, it has ensuite and seems very reasonable.

I'm really not pushing the hotel I recommended, just trying to give you an idea of timings: Lambeth North - Oxford Circus (literally around the corner from Bond St, a 3 minute walk depending on crowds!) takes 7 minutes.

Thanks Twiga, I'll have a look!

I just meant not knowing anything about London, names of areas could be the opposite end of the city and take an hour or so to get to! A friend has told me bond street is in Mayfair but I have no idea of different places! OH knows I'm not good at stuff like this which is why I'm wanting to *try* and organise something, and get it in the right place!!

Bond St where all the shops are is not in Mayfair... after a trek Bond St does lead to the Mayfair area, just.

I think you may struggle on your budget in the bond street area unless you bag a bargain deal. We stayed here the night before our wedding http://www.themontcalm.com/index.php?option=hotel&hotel_id=94&gclid=CPrrvdeFtrwCFUT3wgodv10A9A which I think was £250 a night it's in marble arch so walking distance to bond street/oxford street.

That said I live in Greenwich and you can get a tube Jubilee line to bond street in about 20mins there's a holiday inn near North Greenwich you could probably get 2 nights on your budget.

Also Have be a look at the tube map on the Tfl website it also has a journey planner so you can type in a hotels postcode and travel destination e.g Bond street and will yell you the journey time.

There's a Premier Inn in Hampstead very near Belsize Park tube station. Would probably take 15 minutes to get into Oxford Circus/Bond street area. Belsize Park has lots of lovely little cafes as well for breakfast and you would be about twenty minutes from Camden market. There's also one near King's Cross, again would take very little time on the tube to get where you want to go.
