My husband is the only thing which gets me through the flight - i'm such a wimp.

But I also pack: Warm socks, travel pillows, ipod/kindle or simular etc (OH usally downloads a film onto his too), earplugs, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream and a spare top in case of any turbulance (or other) related spillages!

DS type gamey thing? Puzzle book? MP3 player?

I think the only long haul I went on was with a huge bunch of us to Florida and we kept ourselves entertained with the films and TV channels from what I remember.

Now I would say kindle, lots of water, moisturiser spray thing for your face, blanket for feet and legs, and layers to put on top if it's draughty.

It's been a few years since we did a long haul flight.

    My essentials would be:

Lots of Books (these are now redundant as H bought me a Kindle), magazines and Flight socks.

H normally brings a daft game like "Top Trumps" which passes time on for us. H watches the in-flight films, but as they don't have HoH subtitles, I can't really watch them.

I'm lucky - I don't get travel sick generally (the only time I have was a stupidly rough journey across the channel on a ferry) and its not something that bothers me.

Pyjamas and bed socks (I have absolute disregard for dignity when it comes to being comfortable on a plane).

Make up removal wipes, a deep night moisturiser, eye cream, eye mask, lavender oil and an exfoliating face scrub to wake me up before I get off!

A baby blanker and about four pairs of clean knickers...I don't know why, just in case of an emergency I suppose!

Kindle, iPad, puzzle book, iPod, Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, water, jumper, wet wipes, mints, a book (in case my Kindle fails), make up (to put on before we land) and money for when the duty free trolley makes an appearance.

BV - How do you get a Manicure kit on with all the "sharp objects" rules these days? I am liking your thinking though!

I haven't travelled much since the new rules, but I have a glass file for shaping and then my nail buffer ones aren't sharp. I've never been challenged about my orange sticks for doing my cuticles.

I don't take nail scissors or clippers on, I try and do the nail cutting before I travel so it's just shaping, buffing and polishing on the plane itself. It's so nice to have time to sit and do it properly!

I shall be pinching this idea for our upcoming travels BV ?

I have been known to paint my nails in departures before, when we were delayed - thank goodness for Boots!

I take yoga pants, a t shirt a cardi and socks and go and get changed in the loo as soon as the seatbelt sign goes off, that way Im comfy and I can get changed back into nice maxi/cardi just before landing and not look like a bag of rags!
