I have - I guess it could vary greatly depending on the location, age of building etc but the one that I stayed in was fine. Slightly over-priced IMO, but comfortable and well-equipped.

I work at The Village on average of once a week at least, and have been to several functions there but never stayed over. The Hull one is nice - very clean and modern, but just like a big chainy hotel aimed at business people, not massively luxurious, although the pool looks nice.

It's fine, just a little soulless

    Hi MBK,

I actually live round the corner from the Cheadle Village Hotel. It has recently been renovated so the rooms are nice, but H has colleagues who wont stay there, they say service etc is a bit pants.

I'll look out for you!! If you drink enough, you may not notice if the service is bad?

Yes, once - and never since! And sorry - it was the Cheadle one! It was about 12 years ago though. I don't remember all the details, but they were about the worst bunch of clueless amateurs I've ever come across!

I arranged a business conference there, and it was just awful. So bad that I only paid 50% (and it was several £K) and they didn't argue with me. They were booking conferences during MAJOR building work, so we couldn't hear the speakers - in a small room. There was loads of other stuff that I don't remember now - but generally they were really passive - I was stuck there as we had to do the conference, and they just stared open mouthed like lemons at my complaints - I had to make all the suggestions.

Oh - the worst thing they did was not pass on a message to one of my attendees to call home, despite being told it was urgent and to immediately interrupt the conference. Serious family illness. Just didn't bother to do it. We were reached via mobile an hour later by the main office - this was the days before everyone was carrying mobiles, so it took them some ringing round!

Sorry - that turned into a rant! (the wife got better, fortunately) I'm sure it's all totally different staff now - but it put me off for life!
