Hi everyone,

I noticed a lot of brides getting married this year / next year (2015 / 2015) so it got me wondering are there any B2B / G2B or married individuals out there are are doing or have done the long-term planning thing?

How long were / are peoples engagements? and are there any other people out there like me who want to plan WAAAAY in advance?

Currently my friends are comparing me to Monica out of "Friends" lol. Any other "Monica's" out there? lol Smiley smile

    Yes me... Hallo!! *waves*

We got engaged in Janaury 2012 and are getting married next month so we had a 2 and a bit year long engagement.

At first it wound me up as people would say 'oooh whens the wedding' and i'd say 'not till 2014' and they'd lose all interest buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut now i actually wouldn't change it for the world becasue.....

We had 2 years to save up to make sure we got the wedding we wanted

we didn't have to scrimp and save

we got really good deals with the suppliers (we booked that far in advance that many held thei prices for us at the 2012 cost)

We had plenty of time to plan and organise everything, so much so that with 2 weeks left all we have to do is collect the outfits and make the seating plan

We had no panics about everything being last minute and we have had time to enjoy the engagement and planning of the wedding......

So yes, i was a long(ish) term enagagee and i loved it lol! ?

We've been engaged 10 weeks today and get married in 6 weeks and 3 days. so 16 and a half weeks between engagement and planning (we've been together 8 years). It has been hectic and we aren't getting our 'dream wedding' but I never would have because I refuse to spend the money on, whether we have it or not. We were very fortunate that we were offered money by our parents when we announced our engagement and had some money saved up for house renovation which is now going on the wedding so we didn't really need to save as we could get it all in on the budget we had. We are getting married so quickly as it's really important for my OH to have his gran there and she is very unwell. I didn't want a long engagement, and had in my head autum next year, which would have been just over a year but we are slightly older and planning a family and I wanted to be child and bump free on the day.

I don't see any issue with a long engagement as long as you actually plan to marry- I know several couples who have got engaged to just be engaged, with no plans to marry- one friend has been engaged for nearly 10years, they never plan to married another friend has been engaged for 3 years to a man who doesn't believe in marriage so an engagement was a compromise- they will never marry and just be engaged forever!

Hello, we got engaged dec 2012 and we get married dec 2015 so we'd have been engaged just over 3 years. We didn't plan anything for the first 9 months but iv found it so stress free having so long to make decisions and being able to have breaks in wedding plans
